On the way to the quarters, I saw Rania and mother talking to the king. He stopped halfway, and though I could not hear what they were saying, the look on his face told me everything. He was angry. They seemed to be trying to calm him, to stop him from doing something, and I had a feeling it had to do with Fortuna. He was serious this time. He had truly turned his back on her.
"I heard that Rosalind and the queen had quite a fight in the courtyard today," Marissa said suddenly. I turned quickly, eyes wide, staring at her. Was she serious? Was this some sort of joke? Rosalind and Fortuna were always together like they shared one soul, even though Rosalind already had a twin, Rania.
Rosalind had often taken sides with Fortuna, even when it hurt her. She once stood against me just to defend her, and that was part of why her brother locked her away. To hear that they had a fight sounded strange, almost impossible to believe.
