~Katrina~
"Katrina."
I couldn't believe it. My lips parted, but I couldn't speak. The words wouldn't come out. They were lying—every single one of them. They knew what happened. They saw who started it. But they were scared. Scared of Fortuna, scared of her power, scared of what she could do to them. So they sided with her. Just like that.
"Mother, I didn't start this fight," I said, walking closer to her. I stood in front of her, hoping she could see the truth in my eyes. "Please believe me."
"You?" Rosalind's voice thundered across the room. She stepped forward, her face twisted with disgust. "Since the moment you entered this palace, everything has been upside down. You bring nothing but trouble. Chaos. I curse the day I ever laid eyes on you. My brother may be too blind to see you for who you really are, but we are not."
