The call to Tong Yao was made by Connie, as she feared Tong Aino might go off on a tangent full of exaggerated stories. Connie also voluntarily explained how Tong Aino had jumped into the lotus pond to save her, even though she had an allergic reaction afterward.
Tong Yao was naturally heartbroken, but despite her distress, she didn't want Connie to feel pressured. So, she comforted her, saying that while her son had suffered a bit, at least he successfully brought back his wife. That, at least, was a joyous occasion.
The matter with the fifth uncle finally came to an end, and everyone was able to breathe a sigh of relief.
