On a 1.5-meter wooden desk sat a desktop computer, a laptop, and an English book left open and face down as if paused mid-read. Not far off, a Go board was set up with scattered black and white pieces mid-game, and beside it lay a well-worn strategy manual that was nearly falling apart from frequent use.
