The more they laughed, the more awkward it became.
"My boss asked me to go back and read, so I need to buy some books first."
Chloe Grant didn't want to continue the awkward conversation, so she went straight to the point.
"I'll take you there," Jacob Lee said instinctively.
As he spoke, he moved a step closer to Chloe, but she quickly took a step back.
There was a sense of defensiveness.
Jacob paused.
Chloe used a smile to hide her awkwardness, "No need, I drove here myself. Your hand is still hurt; you should rest more.
Let me call a driver for you; it's pretty dangerous for you to drive like this."
As Chloe spoke, she already had her phone out and was making a call.
Jacob originally wanted to stop her, but he just moved his lips and ended up saying nothing.
He silently watched as Chloe called the chauffeur, then hung up the phone.
"He's nearby and will be here soon." Chloe shook her phone and said.
Jacob looked at her.
