When Delphine arrived at the villa, she saw the front door slightly ajar. It was eerily quiet—no sound of Benjamin's crying. Her panic grew instantly.
"Benjamin?" Delphine called softly, then followed the staircase up to the second floor.
"Mommy." Benjamin's black, shining eyes lit up the moment she heard Delphine's voice. The little girl hugged her plush bunny tightly and dashed out of her room, calling out in her crisp voice, "Benjamin is here!"
Seeing that she wasn't crying or seemed frightened, Delphine finally exhaled in relief. She rushed forward, looking at the little girl dressed in her pink nightgown snuggling her bunny plushie. She kissed Benjamin's chubby cheek and murmured softly, "Benjamin, you scared Mommy."
Benjamin pouted and muttered, "It's Daddy's fault."
The little girl reached out to hug Delphine, planting a comforting kiss on her cheek. In her gentle, sweet voice, she said, "Benjamin won't cry next time, no matter how scared I am. I promise."
