"He came to drop off little Benjamin." Kyla Zamora nodded repeatedly, her legs still trembling a bit. When the man arrived and learned that Delphine wasn't home, his face instantly darkened. His deep, ink-black phoenix eyes slightly lifted at the corners, sending chills down anyone's spine.
Kyla and Desmond Wood were nearly frozen into statues. Using the excuse of taking the two adorable kids upstairs, they scurried away without daring to look back.
Delphine walked to the window. Across the row of vintage street lamps in the courtyard, sure enough, there was a Bentley parked. It was just positioned slightly off to the side, so she hadn't noticed it when she came back.
"Benjamin, why did your daddy bring you here?" Delphine beckoned to little Benjamin and picked him up.
With his small head tilted, Benjamin softly said, "I missed Mommy. Daddy was upset at home, so we came."
