The man drove back to the villa, entered the bathroom for a cold shower, and lay on the large bed, breathing somewhat heavily. His mind was filled with Delphine Carter's pale, perfectly ordinary face—small by comparison, her eyes larger and more luminous than other women's, yet without any distinct features.
The next morning, Delphine took Nicholas and Benjamin to preschool. It was the first time the two little ones went to school together, which proved to be a new and exciting experience. Benjamin was especially delighted; finally, she wouldn't need to stay home and drink that hated milk anymore.
