Delphine stiffened upon hearing the words. She could be as close as sisters with Leah, but when it came to the unpredictable and dangerous Griffith Squire, she always kept the safest possible distance.
"That lousy piece of paper, why are you still holding onto it?" Leah gritted her teeth and said, "Stop scaring Delphine all day long. You're so insufferable—be careful or no one will want you."
Griffith snorted coldly, the smile at the corner of his mouth deepening as he spoke in a low, threatening tone. "Leah Squire, if no one wants me, isn't it because of you? Look at you—can't carry anything heavy, can't do any chores. If I marry a terrible sister-in-law, you might just starve to death."
