However, this young man had stayed with the group ever since they took out Gruding, which baffled Ben greatly. He knew that the young man and several of his companions came from gentry families. Though not particularly powerful, they were, at least, descendants of nobles.
With such a background, there was really no need for him to mix with mercenaries. According to Antitina, this group was considered rebels if spoken kindly, but in reality, they were not much different from bandits who ruled the mountainside.
The real robber groups simply lacked people who understood the noble rules of the game, like him and noble daughters.
