"But..." Faye Townsend bit her lip: "It's really getting late."
"A little while won't make a difference." He poured her a glass of wine and handed it over.
After hesitating for a moment, Faye accepted it. He casually turned on the device, chose a movie, and the two sat closely together, each lost in their own thoughts.
"It was Uncle Forrest's idea to have Richard marry that girl, wasn't it?"
Faye took a gentle sip of her wine and nodded, remembering Uncle Forrest's words from earlier in the day.
He had said that a man like Richard, who is in his thirties yet unable to stand on his own, is only so because he has not yet met someone for whom he is willing to give his all in protection.
If such a person were to appear, then he might change.
Just like how she herself, back in the day, would go to any lengths for love.
Uncle Forrest said that the Townsend family all have this stubbornness and twist about emotions.
