"If he really wakes up and returns to normal consciousness, he probably won't want to see me. If he still has the mindset of a 5 or 6-year-old, then maybe taking more medicine will help reduce the fever completely," Mabel Quinn said, picking up the bag she brought with her. She gave Dorian Howards a slight nod and then left the room on her own.
Dorian Howards quickly chased after her. "Mabel, have you ever thought that Kyle getting caught in the rain and getting a fever this time might be because of you?"
Mabel's footsteps paused slightly, and she quietly said, "We've already broken up." So whether it is or isn't the reason, she doesn't want to know.
But Dorian continued, "I've never seen Kyle look so conflicted. It's not that he doesn't love you; he's just afraid of loving you too much, leading to too much pain."
