"Uncle?" Sophie Foster's eyebrows were tightly knitted, tears brimming in her eyes, as she asked with a wounded expression, "Do you not want to help Lara anymore?"
Suppressing the urge to comfort her, Nicholas Croft responded coldly, "No."
"Are you planning to just watch Lara get locked up?" Sophie continued to ask, as her tears rolled down, making her look pitiful. Nicholas took a deep breath, maintaining his cold demeanor, and said,
"You need to take responsibility for your own mess!"
Sophie once again grasped Nicholas's wrist, crying, "Uncle, please don't abandon Lara. I know you have a way to get her out. Don't let her go to jail, she's really scared…"
"What's the point of being scared now?" Nicholas kept his face cold as he brushed off Sophie's hand once again. "You expect me to cover for you after you've hurt someone so badly they ended up in the hospital?"
