Feeling gloomy, Titus Zane actually overlooked the fact that it was already past midnight in the United States, until Beatrice Hargrave's voice came through the phone, accompanied by a yawn, as she asked, "Carry, have you run into some trouble? Why are you calling me so late?"
Titus Zane suddenly realized her mistake and mumbled, "No," but then spoke up again just as Beatrice Hargrave was about to hang up and continue resting.
