The Barn Owl, also known as the "monkey-faced bird" or "grass owl," is a type of raptor.
In the food chain, it naturally holds a dominant position over the Pigeon King.
Coupled with a slight advantage in attack and defense, its speed and power also surpass the Pigeon King's.
Therefore, once the Barn Owl was summoned, Virt's Pigeon King could only flee in panic!
Clutching the red team's Magic Guide Sphere, the Pigeon King dodged and weaved through the air, but it was no match for the Barn Owl. Its wings were repeatedly gashed by the owl's beak and talons.
But when its magic value dropped to a certain level due to its injuries, a bright white ripple suddenly spread across its body, and its wounds began to heal at a visible rate.
Its magic value was also partially replenished.
This allowed it to successfully hold on until the end of the first round, and it was still evading!
...
Virt kept a close eye on the 30-second countdown, so he immediately drew two new Magic Guide Cards.
He pinned his hopes on these two cards.
And the Magic Guide Cards responded to his expectations!
"Troll!"
Seeing the ugly yet powerful troll on the card's face, Virt's heart instantly calmed down.
He felt a sense of, "With a Troll in hand, the world is mine."
And it was true.
In Virt's mind, the Three-Eyed Squid was likely Scott's strongest three-star Magic Guide Spirit. With the power of the Troll, crushing it would be a foregone conclusion!
This meant victory was assured!
Superior summoning speed.
A superior Magic Guide Spirit.
How could he possibly lose?
After a quick mental calculation, Virt felt victory was in the bag.
All that remained now was to summon the [Troll]!
The cooldown for a normal summon was long over.
He began the summoning without hesitation.
"Fight for me, Troll!"
A white light shot out from the card face and landed in the summoning area.
...
[Card Name: Troll]
[Type: Spirit Card]
[Level: ★★★]
[Race: Demi-human]
[Attribute: Normal]
[Magic: 1200]
[Attack: 1500]
[Defense: 1400]
[Special Skill: Sacrificial Ram, Berserk]
...
A troll as sturdy as a small mountain rose from the ground!
The Pigeon King, once again covered in wounds, immediately fled behind the Troll.
The pursuing Barn Owl was intercepted by the Troll!
With a roar, the Troll swatted at the Barn Owl with its massive palm!
"POOM!"
The millstone-sized palm hit its mark perfectly.
The Barn Owl was instantly blasted into specks of light!
The [Barn Owl] Magic Guide Card in Scott's hand immediately turned gray.
His expression changed slightly as he placed the [Barn Owl] card in the bottom-left corner of the card table.
The defeat of his Barn Owl cost him a precious flying unit.
Fortunately, the Pigeon King's wings were already severely injured; it couldn't fly high no matter what.
As for the healing skill it had just displayed—healing skills always have long cooldowns, making it difficult to use one a second time in a single duel. It could basically be ignored.
The real challenge now was facing that top-tier three-star Troll!
...
Just one Troll!
"If you really think a single Troll can render me helpless, then you truly underestimate me."
Scott muttered to himself.
He was a second-year student, after all.
Although he had previously been brainwashed and lost in resentment, two months had passed since the end of the Goddess incident.
He had not wasted his time in these two months.
Otherwise, he wouldn't have participated in this recruitment tournament.
His grades were indeed not good, but he wasn't an idiot.
Why would he show up just to be embarrassed?
...
After adding two new Magic Guide Cards to his hand, Scott smoothly began casting a normal summon spell.
Meanwhile, on the field.
Having killed the Barn Owl, the Troll seemed extremely excited, beating its chest with its two thick arms, showing off its strength—a common courtship behavior for male trolls.
"Troll!"
Virt stopped the Troll from showing off further.
He then pointed at the Three-Eyed Squid and shouted, "Crush it!"
"ROAR!"
The Troll let out a final roar and charged toward the Three-Eyed Squid!
It didn't use any skills.
Nor did it need to.
Pure physical dominance was enough to overwhelm the Three-Eyed Squid!
The two clashed in the middle of the field.
Facing the charging Troll, the Three-Eyed Squid whipped out a tentacle and lashed it forward!
But the Troll casually caught the tentacle, and with a powerful tug, pulled the Three-Eyed Squid's body forward, off-balance.
It let out a monstrous laugh, grabbed the tentacle with its other hand, and then, pulling alternately with both hands, it forcibly dragged the Three-Eyed Squid right in front of it!
But this was an unwise move!
The Three-Eyed Squid simply looked up and spewed a jet of black ink at the Troll!
The ink was a generous amount, splattering all over the Troll's face and mouth.
The Troll was momentarily stunned, then its eyes flew open, glowing with a bloody light!
"AWOOOO!"
It howled desperately, reaching in with its giant arms to grab the base of two tentacles, then mustered its strength and pulled them apart forcefully!
"RIP!"
One of the tentacles was torn off!
The severed tentacle dissolved into glowing stardust.
The Three-Eyed Squid shrieked in pain.
But this struggle bought time.
Scott flicked the Magic Guide Card in his hand, and a glob of black ink fell from the sky, drenching the Three-Eyed Squid's head!
The Troll was too close and also got hit by the ink.
The areas touched by the ink immediately started smoking, as if corroded.
The Troll recoiled in pain.
But the Three-Eyed Squid, which had been doused from head to toe, showed no signs of corrosion at all.
Instead, its body turned a pure, inky black!
The Troll, with its keen bestial instincts, instinctively took a step back.
The completely "inked" Three-Eyed Squid then opened its third eye!
Virt had always thought the Three-Eyed Squid's third eye was just for decoration.
But that perception was completely shattered at this moment!
A jet-black beam shot out from that third eye, piercing straight through the Troll's shoulder!
The Troll's left arm instantly went limp.
After a brief delay,
it let out a blood-curdling scream!
The shriek was so piercing it seemed to stab right into one's soul.
Virt's face changed dramatically!
...
Outside the field.
Those who knew a little about Scott all wore expressions of disbelief.
Even Dark was quite shocked.
Scott's move just now completely upended his perception of the guy.
The "ink" that fell from the sky was clearly a special item specifically for the Three-Eyed Squid.
The ink-covered Three-Eyed Squid had obviously been enhanced.
This enhancement was likely a comprehensive boost to its magic, attack, defense, and even its special skill!
This was practically equivalent to an evolution!
Or to use another word—demonization!
Professor Nini had just taught the definition of "demonic beasts" in Magical Beast Studies, and Robert had been the one to provide the detailed explanation.
The original demonic beasts were just ordinary animals, but they underwent a modification process called "demonization," not only gaining magic but also the means to release it—that is, special skills!
From what was happening, the Three-Eyed Squid's "inkification" was almost identical.
At this moment, even if the Three-Eyed Squid hadn't reached the standard strength of a tier-two Magic Guide Spirit, it was definitely much stronger than before.
The fact that it had so easily grievously wounded the Troll was a clear testament to this.
"Scott actually had a move like this up his sleeve?"
Dark was never stingy with his praise for others.
At the very least, that [Ink] card had impressed him.
...
Meanwhile, at the judges' table.
Professor Fox had completely recovered from Dark and John's duel earlier.
He was even looking up at Professor Jones!
Although he hadn't actually taught Scott anything about that [Ink] card, it didn't change the fact that Scott was his student.
But Professor Jones was thinking about something else. Her gaze was fixed on Virt's back, a hint of worry in her eyes.
A person can't always face defeat; Virt needed a resounding victory to complete his baptism by fire!
But this current duel was unlikely to be a resounding one.
...
"Magic Guide Summon!"
After calming down a bit, Virt immediately summoned a [Magic Restoration Potion] and smashed it on the Troll.
The Troll's magic value recovered by 100.
But the [Magic Restoration Potion] couldn't heal injuries.
It only managed to temporarily calm the Troll's emotions.
"Create some distance!"
Virt shouted his command.
...
The transformation of the Three-Eyed Squid was terrifying.
He didn't know how many more times it could fire that beam from its third eye.
Creating distance was the safest course of action.
Besides, the Three-Eyed Squid was completely coated in that "ink."
The "ink" was extremely corrosive.
Just now.
The Troll had only been splashed by a little of the "ink," and a large patch of its skin had been corroded.
Pain would only drive the Troll into a frenzy.
But the damage from the corrosion would continuously drain its magic.
Until he figured out the specific effects of that "ink."
Virt didn't want to put the Troll in danger again!
...
However, as the enemy retreated, he advanced.
When Scott saw the Troll backing away under Virt's command, how could he not press his advantage?
The Three-Eyed Squid instantly shot out three black tentacles. One wrapped directly around the Troll's neck, while the other two coiled around its feet!
The "ink" on the tentacles' surface made the Troll's skin smoke where they made contact.
It gritted its teeth against the pain and struggled violently.
The Three-Eyed Squid tried to pull its legs apart to make it lose its balance and fall.
Of course, the Troll wasn't going to let that happen.
With a roar, the Troll stood its ground firmly!
And the tentacle wrapped around its neck was grabbed by its right hand!
With its original strength, the Three-Eyed Squid would have been no match for the Troll.
The Troll just had to grab the tentacle and pull to make the Three-Eyed Squid lose its balance.
But now, their tug-of-war had turned into a stalemate.
Clearly, after being "inked," the Three-Eyed Squid's attack power had increased to at least 1500, matching the Troll's!
An increase from 1100 to 1500—a full 400 points!
...
Relying on its one remaining right arm, the Troll engaged in a fierce battle with the Three-Eyed Squid.
And during this gap,
Virt summoned the other Magic Guide Spirit card he had drawn with the [Troll], attempting to have it bypass the Three-Eyed Squid and attack the blue team's Magic Guide Sphere.
However, Scott just gave a command.
The Three-Eyed Squid retreated slightly, extended an extra tentacle, and crushed the mere two-star Magic Guide Spirit to dust!
In the blink of an eye, the second round was over.
...
"Third round, draw!"
Virt's expression flickered; his luck didn't seem to be very good today.
This time, he only drew two filler Magic Guide Spirit cards.
But at that moment, Scott couldn't help but reveal a look of ecstatic joy.
Seeing that Scott had already started casting a normal summon spell, Virt couldn't help but feel tense.
He looked down at the Troll and the Three-Eyed Squid on the field, gritted his teeth, and made a decision.
"Troll, Sacrificial Ram!"
[Sacrificial Ram] was an extremely powerful special skill, but it cost half of the user's maximum magic, a true double-edged sword!
With the Troll's total magic of 1200, using [Sacrificial Ram] would cost a whopping 600 points!
And after taking the Three-Eyed Squid's "three-eyed ray," the Troll didn't have much magic left.
If another 600 points were deducted, it would be left with just a sliver of health.
But so be it!
At least this Three-Eyed Squid would pay an equal price!
"ROAR!"
Receiving the command, the Troll's eyes suddenly turned red.
Its aura became savage and violent!
A bloody light erupted from its body as it charged ferociously toward the Three-Eyed Squid.
Even after being "inked," the Three-Eyed Squid hadn't overcome its slow movement speed.
It had no way to dodge and could only take the Troll's [Sacrificial Ram] head-on!
With this one hit, the Three-Eyed Squid, despite its enhanced attack and defense, was almost blasted into nothingness.
Although the Troll was also in bad shape, its internal magic value wasn't reflected in its appearance; it still looked ferocious.
Seeing the heavily damaged Three-Eyed Squid, Virt immediately ordered the Troll to finish it off.
But just as the Troll was about to strike, more ink suddenly fell from the sky!
The Three-Eyed Squid let out a joyous cry, as if receiving a timely rain!
Then,
its wounds, especially the gash on its front, began to heal at an incredible speed!
This batch of [Ink] was clearly different from the last one.
Not only did it have a healing effect, but it might have also further boosted the Three-Eyed Squid's stats.
It even opened its third eye again, right in front of the Troll!
...
Virt's expression on the red team's platform changed instantly.
This time, the [Ink] could even reset the cooldown of that special skill!
Too powerful!
If hit by that black ray, the Troll, with only two hundred magic points left, would be instantly wiped out.
"Pigeon King!"
The Pigeon King, clutching the Magic Guide Sphere, understood its command.
It immediately released the sphere from its claws and dived toward the Three-Eyed Squid, its sharp beak aiming straight for the third eye!
"SWOOSH!"
The black ray that shot from the third eye.
Vaporized the Pigeon King!
But the special skill once again entered its long cooldown period.
Virt let out a huge sigh of relief, then gritted his teeth again and said, "Berserk!"
Ever since the Troll gained the [Berserk] special skill, Virt had rarely used it.
Because [Berserk] meant uncontrollable.
It was a final, desperate gamble!
...
But the current situation was far too dire.
With only 200 magic points left, the Troll could no longer withstand the Three-Eyed Squid's attacks.
If he didn't take a risk, he probably wouldn't survive this round!
...
"ROAR!"
Activating the [Berserk] skill on its own, the Troll's blood-red maw opened wide, revealing a mouthful of jagged, sharp fangs.
Before completely losing its senses, it lunged at the Three-Eyed Squid!
...
"Fourth round, draw!"
Virt reached for the top of his deck, his heart heavy.
The berserk Troll had not only held off the Three-Eyed Squid but had also managed to take a huge bite out of it.
But in the end, it ran out of magic and died.
Having lost the [Troll], his cornerstone, Virt could only pin his hopes on the [Radiant Python].
Fortunately, he did indeed draw the [Radiant Python] this round.
The other card was—[Forbidden Love]!
Fortune smiles after hardship!
...
Virt's spirits were instantly lifted.
He immediately drew [Radiant Python] and summoned it as fast as he could.
...
[Card Name: Radiant Python]
[Type: Spirit Card]
[Level: ★★★]
[Race: Reptile]
[Attribute: Light]
[Magic: 1400]
[Attack: 1400]
[Defense: 1400]
[Special Skill: Sacred Light]
...
"Sacred Light!"
The moment the Radiant Python appeared.
Virt shouted loudly.
The Radiant Python immediately raised its head, and from the pure white gem on its forehead, a sacred and beautiful light burst forth!
The entire field was bathed in white light.
The Three-Eyed Squid, with little magic left, melted away like water under the glow of the Sacred Light.
...
At this point in the battle, both sides' core Magic Guide Spirits—the Troll and the Three-Eyed Squid—were off the field!
But Virt still had the Radiant Python holding his field, while Scott's side was completely empty.
"What a tough fight!"
Virt let out a breath and immediately ordered the Radiant Python to attack the blue team's Magic Guide Sphere.
Before the match, he had never imagined Scott could be this troublesome.
But now, he just wanted to end this duel as quickly as possible.
However, just as the Radiant Python crossed the dividing line, a Magic Guide Spirit appeared in the blue team's summoning area!
Scott hadn't given up yet.
His deck contained three [Ink] cards with different effects. Unfortunately, he only had one [Three-Eyed Squid], which was ultimately critically wounded by the berserk Troll and then finished off by the Radiant Python.
But besides the [Three-Eyed Squid], he had other Magic Guide Spirits.
Like this three-star vanilla spirit he just summoned!
...
[Card Name: Crypt Meerkat]
[Type: Spirit Card]
[Level: ★★★]
[Race: Beast]
[Attribute: Ground]
[Magic: 1000]
[Attack: 1100]
[Defense: 1400]
[Special Skill: None]
...
A giant meerkat that lives in crypts, its fur had all fallen out and evolved into tough scales, covering its entire body except for its limbs and belly, much like a pangolin.
For this three-star vanilla card, only its defense stat was respectable.
But speaking of vanilla cards.
A Magic Guide Spirit with all its special skills on cooldown is no different from a vanilla card, is it?
At Scott's command, the Crypt Meerkat began to grapple with the Radiant Python!
These two naturally antagonistic Magic Guide Spirits grew more ferocious as the battle raged on.
Virt resisted the urge to use [Forbidden Love] at this moment and summoned another new Magic Guide Spirit.
But not long after, Scott also summoned a new Magic Guide Spirit.
This time, both summoned two-star vanilla cards. Following the Crypt Meerkat and Radiant Python, they found a spot and started brawling.
Then the next one, and the one after that...
Virt's and Scott's deck compositions were actually very similar. Aside from a few magic or item cards, they only had two options: Magic Guide Spirit cards and more Magic Guide Spirit cards.
Most of these Magic Guide Spirit cards were just filler for the deck.
Once their core Magic Guide Spirit was defeated, all that was left were useless cards.
Therefore.
When the Radiant Python and the Crypt Meerkat lost their combat strength in a deadly struggle, both sides could only summon one "useless card" after another.
And because useless cards were truly useless, even taking each other out required a great deal of effort.
Thus, a long, tedious, and skill-less brawl of useless cards began.
Virt's and Scott's expressions shifted from initial gravity to final numbness, unable to utter another word.
The atmosphere was strange and awkward.
The beginning of the match was so intense and exciting, how did it suddenly turn into this stinky, long-drawn-out script?
But there was no draw option in a duel.
If you didn't want to surrender, you could only play one card at a time.
In the end, who knows what round it was.
Virt was left with only his final Magic Guide Spirit—[Magic Beast (Stag)]—and one [Forbidden Love] card!
Meanwhile, Scott still had a one-star Magic Guide Spirit card and an [Ink] card.
Both of their expressions shifted as they broke free from their stupor.
It was finally ending!
Virt immediately summoned [Magic Beast (Stag)].
This initial Magic Beast hadn't appeared in his matches for a long time.
A white stag, glowing faintly, stepped out of the light, pawing the ground gently with its foreleg, looking sacred and beautiful.
...
[Card Name: Magic Beast (Stag)]
[Type: Spirit Card]
[Level: ★]
[Race: Beast]
[Attribute: Light]
[Magic: 100]
[Attack: 200]
[Defense: 100]
[Special Skill: Heart's Light]
...
A moment later.
Scott's Magic Guide Spirit was also summoned.
It was a creature Virt had seen before—a Water Monkey!
...
[Card Name: Water Monkey]
[Type: Spirit Card]
[Level: ★]
[Race: Beast]
[Attribute: Water]
[Magic: 300]
[Attack: 400]
[Defense: 100]
[Special Skill: Poison Finger, Water Jet]
...
A glance at the stats made it clear who was stronger.
Scott knew about Virt's Magic Beast, so he was well aware that the Stag had extremely low stats.
The moment he summoned the Water Monkey, he was already certain of victory.
But Virt, holding [Forbidden Love], was equally certain of victory.
They looked at each other at the same time, their expressions almost mirror images, revealing smiles of relief and delight.
In that instant, Scott's Water Monkey shot forward!
Though only a one-star creature, the Water Monkey was incredibly fast. Combined with its long, poisonous claws, it could easily poison and slit throats.
But Virt was also familiar with the Water Monkey.
So as the Water Monkey started to move, the white Stag suddenly raised its head, unleashing Heart's Light from its magnificent antlers!
The [Water Monkey] was hit first, forced back by the Heart's Light.
Virt used this time to activate [Forbidden Love].
The little monkey froze on the spot.
The Stag then lowered its head, charged forward, and pierced the monkey's abdomen with the tips of its antlers!
With the [Water Monkey]'s defeat, this incredibly arduous duel finally came to a close.
Even Scott, the loser, let out a quiet sigh of relief.
...
"Battle over."
"Winner: Virt Gold."
Even the referee's tone seemed weary.
A smattering of applause broke out from the crowd.
"Clap, clap, clap!"
Suddenly, one set of claps stood out.
The one clapping was, of course, Robert.
"He still won in the end, didn't he?"
Robert clapped forcefully.
...
"Huh, is it over?"
Diana rubbed her eyes and lifted her head from Dark's shoulder, a bit of drool glistening at the corner of her mouth.
She had been woken up by Robert's clapping.
"It's over. Just as I predicted, Virt won."
There was one thing Dark didn't say: the outcome was the same, but the process was different.
Damn!
...
The two professors at the judges' table, who had been on edge at the start of the duel, now just wanted to give their scores quickly.
Professor Jones silently held up her sign.
"Red Team, Virt, 6 points."
"Blue Team, Scott, 6 points."
Professor Fox was clearly getting old; he couldn't stop yawning, but he still gave his scores.
"Red Team, 5 points."
"Blue Team, 4 points."
The fifth-year student couldn't voice his苦衷.
"Red Team, 6 points."
"Blue Team, 6 points."
...
Professor Fox's scoring was indeed a bit strict.
Although the duel devolved into a pecking match of useless cards in the later stages,
both contestants had their moments of brilliance.
As a first-year student, Virt's normal summon speed was very fast, and the quality of his individual cards was decent; he just lacked a tactical system.
And Scott's [Ink] card was genuinely creative.
It was just that his fundamentals were terrible, and he didn't have any tier-two Magic Guide Spirit cards.
If he didn't work hard, he would likely fail the second-year Summoning Arts final exam.
As for whether they could ultimately pass the Dueling Club's recruitment, that would depend on luck.
...
In any case, after this seventh match ended, Dark finally couldn't resist closing his eyes to rest for a while.
Afterward, he watched Sara Swati's match.
The top student from Magic House had shown significant improvement since the last in-class competition, easily winning her duel against a second-year senior.
The entire first round of the recruitment tournament lasted over an hour before finally moving on to the second round.
Rose had been waiting by the notice board early on. As soon as the new schedule was posted, she found the matches for numbers 123 and 666, then managed to escape before the crowd swarmed in.
Thanks to Rose's foresight, Dark and Diana were spared the trouble of checking the schedule.
They chatted quietly during the break. A refreshed Dark was once again looking forward to dueling an upperclassman.
In this second round of the recruitment tournament, Dark and Diana were still at Arena 1, scheduled for the second and fourth matches, respectively.
This meant Dark would be up again soon!
He perked up, "I'm up first this time."
Diana replied, "Next time it'll definitely be my turn to go first!"
...
Not far away.
Owen, standing next to a sign for the "Noble History Research Society," once again sized up the trio on the bench.
A short student next to him couldn't help but look up and ask, "I say, Owen, when are you finally going to make your move?"
Owen flashed his white teeth with a composed look, "No rush, I'm going now."
He had actually planned to approach Dark right after his duel, but then he got distracted by the Son of the Hero's match.
After all, although the Son of the Hero, Virt Gold, wasn't in Noble House, he was a bona fide noble descendant. Who wouldn't want to snag the Son of the Hero for their club as a prized member?
With the Twin Swords of the Kingdom united, the Noble History Research Society would be unstoppable, right?
But unexpectedly, watching that match just made him sleepy!
As a result, he never found a chance to persuade Dark Demon.
As for the other clubs that had tried to recruit him and been rejected, he considered it a matter of course.
In all of St. Marian, only the Noble History Research Society was worthy of Dark Demon!
In any case, he kept procrastinating until the break between matches. It just so happened that no one was around Dark's group, making it a perfect opportunity to go and persuade... no, recruit him!
Owen smoothed his prized golden bangs and strode over.
When he arrived, he made a point to circle around to face Dark, bowing with noble etiquette. "Good afternoon, Demon."
Dark looked up and replied, "Good afternoon, senior."
Might as well call him senior, though I have no idea where he's from...
Owen introduced himself very naturally, "Right, we should have seen each other in the Noble House common room. I'm Mike Owen, a third-year and a member of the Noble History Research Society."
"Noble History Research Society?" Dark knew the academy had many clubs, but he never expected one like this.
Wouldn't it be better to just call it the History Club?
Then you could study whatever history you wanted!
Owen cleared his throat, preparing for a long speech. "Our Noble History Research Society focuses on studying the royalty and nobility throughout history, their rise and fall. The goal is to learn from history and apply it to the future. Every member of our club is a future pillar of the kingdom..."
"Wait," Dark interrupted him directly. "So, senior, you're here to recruit me into the Noble History Research Society?"
Owen gave a mysterious smile. "That's right. If you join our Noble History Research Society, you'll start as at least the vice president. Of course, official membership begins next academic year."
Dark was surprised. "Vice president right off the bat?"
Owen said, "Yes. Your bloodline speaks for itself."
Dark: "Uh..."
Owen immediately added, "If you feel that vice president isn't enough, as long as you stay in the club for a year, the position of president will be yours! I'm sure the current president will abdicate in favor of a more worthy candidate."
Dark couldn't help but laugh. "With an offer like that, if I didn't already have plans, I might have actually been swayed."
Owen immediately caught the hidden meaning, and his heart sank. "What do you mean?"
Dark sighed, "The Noble History Research Society sounds great, but I'm planning to start my own club next year, so I'm sorry. Of course, if you're interested in joining my club, senior, I'll be sure to save you a spot on the waiting list."
Owen fell silent.
After a long moment, he asked again, "Are you sure?"
Dark looked up. "Of course."
Owen shrugged. "Well, then there's nothing to be done. But starting a new club is no simple matter. If you ever change your mind, you can come find me directly. The position of vice president of the Noble History Research Society will always be open for you."
Dark: "Thank you."
Owen then turned and walked away.
His feigned smile suddenly twisted into a vicious scowl!
But the change in expression was fleeting, and in an instant, he was smiling again.
"How'd it go?"
The short student asked casually as he returned.
Owen found a place to sit down and smiled. "He said he's going to start his own club."
The short student nodded. "As expected, it wasn't going to be that easy. But if he's starting his own club, that means he won't be committing to any other clubs before next year. We still have a chance, don't we?"
Owen: "Of course we still have a chance, a very big chance."
Short student: "Hahaha."
Owen: "Hahaha."
Short student: "'Ha' my foot!"
The short student suddenly jumped up and smacked Owen on the head with a folded paper fan, spitting, "Is this how you handle things?"
Owen: "I'm sorry, President!"
Short student: "You useless trash!"
