"More, more! More, more!"
Dark quickly grabbed the base of DemiDevimon's wings with both hands to prevent the greed-faced creature from pouncing on the little red flowers in the drawer.
Although snatching the flowers like this was meaningless, DemiDevimon's mind was filled with naked avarice, leaving no room for clear thought.
On its forehead, the crest representing [Greed] was flashing.
The crest of [Pride] was red, but its representative color on the card was dark gold.
The crest of [Lust] was green, and its representative color on the card was pink.
And the crest of [Greed] was purple, while its representative color on the card was blue!
Blue should have been the color of the sky, yet the blue of [Greed II] had a somber tone that stirred avaricious desires in one's heart.
"Sylveon!"
"Mii (> ^ ω ^ <)!"
As Sylveon used its ribbon-like feelers to wrap DemiDevimon into a bundle with only its head exposed, Dark's hands were finally free.
He picked up a pen and paper, observed the crest on DemiDevimon's forehead for a while, and then drew the Crest of Deadly Sin for [Greed].
The center of the [Greed] crest was a mark resembling a lock. Above the mark was the astronomical symbol for Saturn—a symbol resembling an "h".
The outer ring of the crest had a line of English words:
LEVEL-666
SYSTEM:MAMMON
CODE:GREED
And below the mark, on the inner ring of the crest, it read:
CAUTION! PURGATORY LEVEL 5
…
Outer Ring:
LEVEL-666
SYSTEM: MAMMON
CODE: GREED
Inner Ring:
WARNING! PURGATORY LEVEL 5
…
Fifteen minutes later, DemiDevimon returned to normal and received a little red flower as a reward.
An hour later, the cooldown for [Greed II] was over, and Dark summoned little Eevee.
Having witnessed DemiDevimon's entire embarrassing display, Eevee obediently lay in Dark's arms, sticking out its little tongue to lick its master's face, hoping he would be gentle.
Dark was, after all, still just a demon lord-in-training. For now, he merely activated [Greed II] and shone it on Eevee, which immediately started licking him even more enthusiastically!
"Bui bui!"
Under the effect of [Greed II], Eevee, as expected, was upgraded from one star to two.
[Card Name: Magic Beast]
[Type: Spirit Card]
[Level: ☆☆]
[Race: Avian-Beast]
[Attribute: Normal]
[Mana: 500]
[Attack: 700]
[Defense: 300]
[Special Moves: Imitate, Baby-Doll Eyes, Covet]
…
The unchanging Imitate, the greedy Baby-Doll Eyes, the ultimate Covet!
→[Special Move: Baby-Doll Eyes]
→[Baby-Doll Eyes: Eevee stares at the opponent with greedy eyes, making them feel constrained and lowering their desire to attack.]
Achieving the same effect through a different method—perhaps this was Baby-Doll Eyes!
→[Special Move: Covet]
→[Covet: Approaches the opponent to attack while acting cute, and can also snatch the opponent's held item.]
Replacing the [Helping Hand] from [Pride II] was the [Covet] from [Greed II]!
"It's Covet?"
"Does this mean my nice guy has become a petty thief?"
…
While the duration of [Greed II] hadn't yet passed, Dark called over DemiDevimon to assist with an experiment.
"Eevee, use Covet!"
"Buiii~"
Eevee gave an affectionate cry towards DemiDevimon, then struck the classic pose of a beckoning cat and suddenly swiped at it!
DemiDevimon froze, a sudden chill on its head. Its beloved little hat was now in little Eevee's paws!
"Give it back!"
DemiDevimon let out a "Waaah!" and pounced!
…
"What an incredible skill!"
Dark, however, was delighted. As an attack skill, [Covet] had low power, but it came with an unexpected additional effect.
The "snatch" in the special move's description wasn't a true theft, but rather a means of taking an object from a distance.
This effect surely had its limits.
For instance, if the opponent was holding onto an item tightly or had it locked with mana, it would probably be very difficult to snatch.
But on the other hand...
As a Magic Guide Spirit, Eevee's [Covet] could likely "snatch" not just physical objects, but also items manifested from item cards!
To verify this, Dark took out an item he had acquired but never had a chance to use—[Revealing Powder]!
After a successful summon, a small bottle of silver powder appeared in his hand.
Sprinkling or smashing this powder would reveal ghosts or invisible objects within a small area.
And just like that, Eevee swiped at him and got its paws on the [Revealing Powder]!
"Potions can be snatched, so what about equipment, weapons, or even armaments?"
Dark's line of thought suddenly expanded infinitely.
In his eyes, Eevee's [Covet] skill gradually transformed, becoming a "Divine Clothes-Stripping Technique"!
"Sinful! Sinful!"
"Restraint! Restraint!"
"Calm down!"
…
In any case, the creation of [Greed II] was undoubtedly a great success.
Afterwards, before going to sleep, Dark used [Greed II] one more time, this time on the [Trash Slime].
As the only Magic Guide Spirit in his deck without much independent thought, Dark had worried himself sick over it.
But the [Pride] and [Lust] series of Deadly Sin cards were almost useless on the [Trash Slime].
For this reason, Dark had specifically looked up information on the creature known as a slime in the library.
Slimes were fundamentally very simple life forms, but this simple nature gave them immense potential.
It could be said they were a life form that perfectly fit "Darwin's Theory of Evolution."
Influenced by various factors such as food, environment, and genetics, slime populations would undergo adaptive evolution according to "Darwin's Theory of Evolution," developing into numerous branch species.
[Trash Slime] was one of those branches.
Slimes generally had three major traits: transformation, fusion, and devouring!
[Trash Slime] specialized in the devouring trait.
Therefore, among the Seven Deadly Sins, the one with the best compatibility for [Trash Slime] should be [Gluttony]!
And the next best was likely the [Greed] he now possessed!
Since he couldn't extract [Gluttony] yet, the [Greed] series of Deadly Sin cards held the most promise.
"Ma-ma!"
Ditto lay on the edge of the bed, carefully watching its own baby, also hoping it would become a little smarter.
"Magic Guide Summon!"
As the standard summoning was completed, a faint blue light emanated from the [Greed II] card. The light grew more intense, enveloping the Trash Slime.
The Trash Slime, which always looked like a puddle of green ooze, finally showed some changes!
Its body gradually swelled up, changing from a slimy state to a jelly-like one, and its color shifted from green to a bluish-green.
"Puyo?"
The [Trash Slime]'s card face also changed, from one star to two!
Even its [Card Name] had changed!
