Chapter 111: Dark Demon Becomes the Crimson Star
After hearing Dark Demon's account, both the professors and the Headmistress quickly realized that someone else's role was missing from the story.
The Moon Goddess couldn't have vanished into thin air, so a third party must have intervened.
The small sphinx-like spirit circled the temple and then said quickly, "Take the students to the infirmary first. I will notify Sister Carian as soon as possible. Also, Demon, you did very well, but you can leave the rest to the professors. Additionally, if you don't need too much rest, don't miss your first ball since enrolling. I'll be waiting for you in the first-floor banquet hall."
"Yes, Headmistress."
Dark Demon bowed slightly, greeted the other two professors, and then quickly departed.
After Dark Demon left.
Professor Silf finally retracted her gaze and mused, "Pava, what do you think of Demon's words?"
Professor Jones smiled gracefully, "He has secrets, but which of us magi doesn't have secrets? Let's go. At least in this matter, he should be on the good side."
Professor Silf: "Then what are your guesses about the third party?"
Professor Jones said somewhat nonchalantly, "Didi, or Kazel? Someone has to take responsibility for this."
...
By the time Dark Demon reached the first-floor banquet hall, it was already past twelve-thirty.
Headmistress Cynthia was on stage, waving her magic pen, performing various magic techniques in front of the young magi.
Normally at this time, she would have already announced the masquerade ball champion, presented the award, and officially declared the start of the masquerade ball's final revelry.
But tonight, she had clearly made an effort to stall for time.
It wasn't until Dark Demon stepped into the banquet hall that she stopped showing off her skills and said with a smile, "Now, let's move on to the award ceremony. Please welcome the first-year's Crimson Star—Dark Demon!"
"Pop!"
A huge confetti egg suddenly appeared overhead.
As soon as Dark Demon looked up, the confetti egg split open, releasing a large amount of streamers and paper scraps.
Then, his vision shifted, and Dark Demon suddenly found himself standing on the stage, to Headmistress Cynthia's left.
Headmistress Cynthia's silver hair was as striking as ever. Her beautiful face was adorned with a quarter-sized diamond mask, a silver tiara sat atop her head, and she wore a black gown with a long train.
She looked less like a princess and more like the wicked queen often seen in fairy tales.
"Demon, hold out your hands."
"Yes, Headmistress."
Dark Demon extended his hands, and they suddenly felt heavy; an unusually heavy, enormous trophy had appeared in them!
Headmistress Cynthia's voice echoed through the hall: "Come, let us congratulate this year's Crimson Star!"
Thunderous applause immediately filled the hall.
Headmistress Cynthia: "Demon, is there anything you'd like to say?"
Dark Demon: "It's too big."
Headmistress Cynthia: "..."
Dark Demon walked off the stage, somewhat dazed.
He couldn't have imagined that the grade champion's trophy would be such a large gold cup!
If this were taken to Traveler Street to be sold, how many credits would it fetch?
But just as he stepped off stage, before the trophy in his hands had even warmed up, it suddenly began to shrink.
(O°Д° O)
A trophy nearly half a person tall had shrunk to the size of a palm-sized medal!
"No, this is too much, isn't it?"
"Is this how you play with people's enthusiasm?"
Dark Demon wanted to appeal, but the trophy turning into a medal seemed to be a customary part of the Halloween ball; only the first-years in the audience let out gasps of surprise.
He flipped the medal over and saw engraved on the back:
[Curse: Well-Deserved.]
So he infused magic power into the medal and whispered, "Well-deserved."
Instantly, his hands felt heavy again, and the medal transformed back into the nearly half-person-tall trophy!
...
After changing the trophy back into a medal and pinning it to his chest, Dark Demon casually found a place to sit down.
He hadn't paid much attention to the leaderboards; as for becoming the first-year champion, he was just ordinarily excited for a moment.
Next, Headmistress Cynthia continued to present awards.
From first year to sixth year, a total of six grade trophies.
And then the final overall first place, the overall champion—the Platinum Star recipient!
A total of six contestants went up on stage one after another.
Dark Demon saw Senior Pandora successfully win the fourth-year championship but unfortunately miss out on the Platinum Star.
"It seems there are indeed hidden talents among the senior students."
"Dark!"
"Hmm?"
Diana, having squeezed her way over with difficulty, plopped down beside him, a hint of milky fragrance wafting into his senses.
She complained a little, "Where did you go? We were looking for you for so long!"
Dark Demon took a sip from a fresh glass of orange juice on the table and sighed, "Something came up and delayed me. I just arrived."
"Oh, oh, oh." Diana immediately beamed again, unreservedly reaching out to touch Dark Demon's chest, grabbing the Crimson Star medal and examining it closely for a few moments.
Rose walked over, "Congratulations on winning, Dark is indeed the champion."
Dark Demon: "Thank you."
Diana snapped back to reality and quickly said, "Congratulations, congratulations."
Then she began to look forward to the start of the ball.
The two, wearing matching outfits, still looked like a golden couple, quite conspicuous even at this formal masquerade ball dinner.
And Headmistress Cynthia on stage had also begun the next segment, which was the "Princesses' Meeting"!
It was precisely because of the arrival of the three princesses that this masquerade ball had become particularly special.
Everyone had been looking forward to this for a long time.
Headmistress Cynthia drew several glowing circles with her magic pen and, like a magic trick, waved it upwards. Instantly, magic power exploded like fireworks.
"Now, please welcome the princesses on stage!"
Immediately after, the three princesses sitting in the professors' section stood up and walked towards the stage.
Princess Elisa wore standard royal attire. Apart from an exquisite mask that hid her beauty, her demeanor was still composed and elegant, her temperament noble yet gentle.
The many supporters of the eldest princess in the audience immediately cheered.
The little tiger and little bear, who had little presence, also "heave-ho, heave-ho"-ed onto the stage, very obediently walking to either side of the eldest princess.
Only after the fervent atmosphere in the venue had calmed down a little did the students notice the two little princesses on stage.
Some people's faces changed on the spot.
Because the two little princesses had been running around the castle, more than half the people had seen them, and some had even been harassed by them—they were truly mischievous!
And they themselves, of course, hadn't shown the little princesses any particularly good expressions.
After the three princesses finished their self-introductions, it was finally time for the much-anticipated "Dance Partner Selection" segment.
The eldest princess first stepped forward, her gentle gaze sweeping over the students below the stage.
The atmosphere among the students grew tense.
