Chapter 96: Dark Demon Masters the Art of Luring Monsters
"Hey!"
Princess Anna stood on her tiptoes, climbing onto the castle window, looking from the third floor to the external bridge on the second floor.
A three-eyed Cuttlefish descended from the sky, seizing the opportunity to grab the young lady on the bridge. Just as the young man on a date with the young lady was about to make a move, the Cuttlefish's tentacle pressed against his throat.
Scott, wearing the Cuttlefish suit, walked out from one end of the bridge, his voice hoarse from being filtered by the suit, "You better not scream, or the skin on your throat won't be as tough as your mouth."
Bruder immediately swallowed, looking somewhat timidly at his childhood sweetheart who was caught by the Cuttlefish's tentacles.
But Marley shouted without hesitation, "This is a magic spirit, someone is attacking us! Bruder, go call a professor!"
Bruder mustered his courage and shouted, "But if I go, what about you?"
Marley: "Don't worry, we are a couple ordained by God. This is just a trial we must overcome. I'll be fine."
"Then, then I'm really going..." Bruder took a small step back.
Marley's eyebrow twitched, "Go quickly, I'll wait for you."
"Wait for me!" Bruder turned sharply and actually ran.
Even prime-time soap operas wouldn't dare to portray it like this.
Watching Bruder's figure disappear at the end of the bridge, Marley's expression darkened.
She said in a low voice, "Alright, classmate. Attacking people at school isn't some fun script. When I was in my first year, I saw you researching how to refine a three-eyed Cuttlefish."
Scott: (⊙_⊙)
The three-eyed Cuttlefish seemed to sense its master's emotions, and the tentacle holding Marley actually loosened.
Marley forcefully pried open the tentacle, slid to the ground, turned, and delivered a flying kick!
Before that, a magic card slid from her sleeve to her fingertips. With a mere 3-second summoning time, her flying foot was covered in a layer of leg armor gleaming with metallic luster.
"Bang!"
The explosive power was unparalleled.
The point of contact between the three-eyed Cuttlefish and the kick instantly caved in. Then, it let out a sharp cry, its enormous body sent flying like a rubber ball, slamming hard against the castle wall!
"Splat."
...
Scott: ▣_▣
...
Marley clapped her hands and said softly, "It's a perfectly good Halloween ball. I don't particularly want to know what you and your companion are doing. Tell him to release Bruder, and I can pretend this never happened, hmm...?"
Before she finished speaking, she suddenly looked up and saw a small tiger with snow-white wings descending from the sky, bringing a hammer down on Scott's Cuttlefish suit.
Scott screamed without warning and lost consciousness.
The second princess put away the [Wings] magic card in her hand, somewhat awkwardly dusted off the small tiger suit, and said well-behaved, "Hello, big sister."
A strong one!
Anna had originally wanted to perform a "magical girl descends from the sky to beat up bad guys" scene, but she hadn't expected that just as she jumped out of the window, the bad guy would already be subdued.
Marley clearly saw Anna's intention and immediately showed a gentle smile, "Are you a first-year?"
Anna's eyes darted around, "Yes, I am!"
Then she naturally latched onto this heroic young lady.
She followed Marley until Marley rescued her childhood sweetheart from Pufferfish's grasp.
...
Meanwhile, Princess Angie, wearing the little bear costume, let out a "Tch!" and happily ran off in another direction.
Thus, the two little princesses parted ways.
Scott, however, was awakened by the Pufferfish who had escaped back. The two supported each other as they walked into the castle. Though the road was long and arduous, they pressed on.
...
At the same time.
Dark Demon had already moved from the second floor to the third.
During this period, relying on DemiDevimon and Eevee, he had reaped considerable rewards. However, he hadn't encountered any more "hidden ghosts," only gaining a lot of credits.
On the first-year Nobles' House leaderboard, his ranking began to rise steadily.
This undoubtedly attracted the attention of Virt and Robert. Virt immediately felt a prickle on his back and also rushed from the second floor to the third.
The ghosts on the third floor were generally stronger than those on the second, but still limited to the first tier of 1-3 stars.
However, the three-star weaklings no longer acted alone, and the number of three-star ghosts had increased.
Dark Demon even saw a large group of ghosts draped in sheets wandering the corridors!
Considering his limited number of cards, Dark Demon didn't provoke them easily. Instead, he took a detour and quietly crept towards the fourth floor!
After the trials of the second floor, Dark Demon had somewhat understood the movement patterns of these ghosts.
Thus, combining his card quantity and types, he formulated a new strategy, preparing for a big move!
Starting from the fourth floor of the castle, powerful four-star ghosts began to appear, and two-star and three-star ghosts also started to group up. From time to time, students could be seen being chased around by hordes of ghosts.
Well, just like now!
Hearing the sound of many ghosts rapidly approaching, Dark Demon immediately hid in a small alley.
Then, he saw a somewhat familiar senior from the Nobles' House sprinting past, followed by a horde of mummies!
The mummies' movement speed was slightly slower than a normal person's, but behind this group of mummies was a witch riding a broomstick, constantly casting acceleration magic.
After the senior student ran past with the horde of mummies like a train, Dark Demon emerged from the alley, quietly wiping off sweat.
Then he began to familiarize himself with the environment of the castle's fourth floor.
About a quarter of an hour later, Dark Demon found an empty classroom without even desks or chairs in a corner of the fourth floor.
After confirming there were no "hidden ghosts" inside.
Dark Demon summoned DemiDevimon, patted its cheek, and said solemnly, "I'm counting on you!"
DemiDevimon looked as sorrowful as an old general about to go to battle, weakly saying, "No, can we switch to another beast? DemiDevimon is not up to the task."
Dark Demon: "Self-deprecation is not good. Believe in yourself, you are the strongest!"
DemiDevimon: "Okay then."
Then DemiDevimon flew out of the classroom, heading towards a group of zombies he had discovered during his earlier scouting.
Zombies were even more terrifying than mummies, either missing noses and eyes, or with their intestines exposed, dragging on the ground.
DemiDevimon picked up a stone and threw it in. The group of zombies, who were sunbathing by the windowsill, all turned in unison, their deep eyes fixed on DemiDevimon!
And so, a great escape began!
Just a dozen or so zombies couldn't satisfy DemiDevimon's appetite. It continued to fly to the next destination, cleanly luring a group of Redcap Goblins!
At this time, Dark Demon was waiting quietly in that classroom.
He stroked Eevee's belly with his finger, and after replenishing its magic, summoned it.
"Help!" x13
Accompanied by a gust of wind, DemiDevimon rushed into the classroom. The closest Jack O'Lantern Axeman slashed at it, almost splitting its head in two.
"They're here!"
Dark Demon's eyes narrowed, and he took out [Lust III].
