...

Powerful demons are coming!

Hearing Ekbelt's words, everyone present frowned. The so-called "powerful demon" in his mouth—there was no need to guess.

It could only mean one thing.

An epic.

"Abyss Demon…"

Xiongshou's brows knitted. From a long-term view, the Light God Realm was indeed far more dangerous than other dimensions—for they undermined the very foundation of mankind. They shattered human will, eroded resistance, and replaced it with blind devotion to their so-called Goddess of Light.

That was the destruction of civilization itself. The Light God Realm must be expelled at all costs.

But at least the Light God Realm did not slaughter humans outright.

The Abyss, however, was different. Its monsters were savage and cruel—killing on sight, treating humans as little more than livestock.

If the Abyss truly sent down an epic, it would not be a threat to the distant future. It would be the nightmare of the present.

"…Damn," muttered Shen Ji, lowering his head. His voice was expressionless, yet heavy.

Humanity had evolved at an astonishing pace. In only three short years, they had advanced from mere scientific civilization to the S-class of supernatural civilization—a progress that would normally take centuries. Shen Ji himself now stood at the peak of S-class combat power.

But the time was too short. If given one more year, they could have touched the epic rank themselves. Then, they would not face such overwhelming terror so helplessly.

They had already risked their lives to drive back the Light God Realm, yet now the Abyss descended. And in truth, was this not partly their fault?

Still, could they really be blamed? For the sake of this world and mankind, they had marched into Hangcheng, sacrificed their lives in battle, and held the line against the Light.

"How many strong demons can the Breaking Stone bring down at once?"

Mammon's eyes flickered as he looked at the towering pillar of black magic light.

"One epic at most," Ekbelt answered firmly. "That is the limit of the Holy Stone's endurance."

If it could summon more, Asmit would not have come alone.

"With one epic, Asmit can handle it," Mammon muttered, eyes narrowing. He already bore the Light's gene, and from the Abyss he had absorbed only the Death Scythe Demon's. One epic could be managed.

Ekbelt's tone carried pride. "Do not underestimate him. Asmit has received the Goddess's blessing. His strength surpasses most epics."

Mammon's lips curved into a faint smile. "Good. If Asmit can block the epic, then the rest is manageable."

Shen Ji and Xiongshou felt a measure of relief. Yes—if the epic were restrained, they could handle the others. Once, they had been mortal enemies, but now… what enmity mattered before the Abyss?

Just as Xiongshou began to speak, a deafening crash shook the city.

All eyes turned.

A figure wreathed in holy light was blasted from the skies like a cannonball, smashing through a building that collapsed into dust and rubble.

Silence fell.

"That… looked like Asmit, the Singer of Light," Li Yuqin said carefully, his eyelids twitching. No other light creature in the city could fly unaided. Flying was the mark of the epic.

Ekbelt's expression darkened. "Asmit… repelled?"

"It seems the Abyss's epic is stronger than expected," Mammon muttered grimly. Their fragile hope collapsed with those words.

From the shattered temple, a monster emerged—its body glowing lilac, wings of golden flesh unfurled wide, a massive purple scythe clutched in its claws. Its form was part ape, part beast, with a tail lashing like a whip.

Ekbelt's eyes widened. "The Hell Guard!"

"No… it's more than that," Mammon whispered. His gaze shifted past the Hell Guard, and his blood ran cold.

Another figure followed—a tall, slender demon, cloaked in black and crimson robes, crimson magic boiling from his form. Twin horns crowned his head, and a flame-shaped mark burned between his brows.

His face… too close to Lilith's.

Abyss royalty.

"An epic Great Demon of the Abyss? Impossible!" Ekbelt roared, emerald flames flaring in his eyes. "The Holy Stone cannot transmit two epics at once!"

But Mammon's eyes narrowed further. "What if he crossed while still S-class… and ascended to epic only after arriving—using some alien treasure?"

Ekbelt froze, realization dawning.

"Then… it is possible."

Mammon exhaled slowly. "We must retreat. Two epics—this is no battle we can win. First, we regroup and decide how to face the Abyss."

He cast a final glance at the temple's top floor.

And deep within his chest, rage smoldered.

"Lilith… wait. One day, I'll strip you to the bone."
