Chapter 128 - 125

What kind of enemy is the hardest to face?

Overwhelming power can be terrifying—but a calm opponent is far worse.Especially when that calm opponent also wields great power.

There is no true invincibility. Yet calmness, paired with caution, minimizes flaws, reducing danger from great to small… and from small to nearly nothing.

Xuan was truly troublesome.

Mammon's crimson eyes narrowed, and with a flick of his hand, the six Heavenly Orbs in the sky descended like a rain of meteors, blazing white tails dragging across the heavens.

Seeing the attack, Shen Ji retreated at once, veering sharply, then lunged toward Mammon.

"The Light will bless us."

Ecbert raised his staff. Holy radiance surged, reinforcing the barrier of light that encased him.

One after another, the six Heavenly Orbs slammed down, shaking the world with violent tremors. Dazzling white brilliance erupted, swallowing the battlefield.

Mammon's robe whipped in the gale of backlash. He stared into the storm, lips curling faintly."Impressive… but he's a Light Elemental. The Sixfold Heaven will hardly harm him."

Shen Ji landed at his side, expression as cold and pale as carved jade. Her blade glimmered with restrained light.

Mammon turned to her. "Another Redeemer—was that you?"

Shen Ji's eyes did not waver. "Yes."

Her voice was flat, without pride, but without regret. "This one's defenses are too strong. Without preparation, I cannot break him."

Mammon smirked. "Then we strike together."

For now, the enemy of my enemy was an ally.

Mammon's gaze shifted toward Jerna, still locked in battle with the giant-headed warrior. With the sacred griffin beneath her, Jerna matched him blow for blow. The knight's spear and the griffin's wings tore wounds into the colossus's body; blood streamed down his massive frame.

"The Head can defeat a Redeemer," Shen Ji said calmly, confidence unwavering. "It's only a matter of time."

Mammon shook his head. "Time is exactly what we don't have. The longer this drags on, the worse it will become. And the temple…" His crimson eyes darkened. "…the statue is still our greatest threat."

Shen Ji's lips pressed into silence. She understood.

"Someone must hold this old man," Mammon muttered, glaring at Ecbert, whose barrier still pulsed with power. "Elementalists… left unchecked, they become living batteries of destruction."

"Naruto."

At Mammon's call, Naruto's golden bell chimed once more.

Jingle—

The air warped. A hulking green demon wielding a vast death scythe emerged, scarlet eyes gleaming with the mark of the Winded Ones. At the same time, the ground ruptured with a thunderous quake, and the colossal body of the Deadland Storm Worm burst forth from below.

Shen Ji's empty eyes flickered briefly. "...S-class monsters."

The numbers branded in their eyes made it clear—both were part of Mammon's faction.

"When… did you gather such power?"

Mammon's lips curled. "They'll keep the old man busy. You and I will finish the knight."

Shen Ji nodded. It was the most efficient path.

Ecbert, however, did not share their calm. His barrier flickered out, his aged gaze narrowing coldly upon the newcomers.

"Demons… and worms." His voice trembled with disgust. "The Abyss and the Zerg—scourges of creation. That you consort with such filth confirms it. Evil such as yours… the world of the goddess does not need."

His staff blazed.

"Xuan Guang—Sevenfold Heaven!"

The sky quaked. A colossal magic array spread wide above, seven suns of holy power condensing within its orbit.

Mammon sneered. "And yet your goddess's world has no place for you either."

Jie jie jie jie—

The Death Scythe Demon vanished in a flicker, reappearing behind Ecbert. Its massive scythe whistled down toward the Redeemer's back.

"Light and shadow reversal!"

At the same moment, the Storm Worm lunged, tearing forward with earth-splitting force.

Ecbert's aged spine stiffened—danger surged in his heart. Without hesitation, he abandoned his casting, holy light flashing into a barrier of pure brilliance.

Clang!

The scythe slammed against the shield, sparks of darkness against light.

Ecbert turned, eyes narrowing at the demon's grotesque grin."Filthy devil…"

This was wrong. The Death Scythe Demon should only move through shadows, yet their battlefield—flooded with holy radiance—had none to anchor it.

An ability far too dangerous for any Elementalist to ignore.

Mammon's eyes glinted. He leaned toward Naruto and whispered, "They'll hold him. Now… the knight."

The bell chimed again.

Jingle—

"Vampire Magic—Space Displacement!"
