Lee shouted, and the air currents around him suddenly became more violent.
Veins bulged on his forehead, and the light surrounding his body grew brighter.
"This is amazing," Kakashi murmured. "This kid is truly a genius."
Lee suddenly let out a roar, then vanished.
At the same time, Gaara flew into the sky in an awkward posture.
"What?!" Everyone was stunned, unable to comprehend what just happened.
Kakashi knew it had to be lee.His movements were simply too fast for the eye to catch.
"Where are they?!" Everyone frantically looked around for the two fighters, but neither was in sight.
"Up there," Haruto said to the two girls beside him.
Hearing this, Ino and Hinata quickly looked to the sky and spotted Gaara.
"But..." Ino said in surprise, "I still can't see lee!"
"Where is he?!" Chōji asked, spinning in circles in search of lee's shadow.
They only saw Gaara's sand slowly lifting to meet him in mid-air.
"That's incredible," Sakura gasped. "The sand can't keep up with their speed!"
In the air, cracks spread across Gaara's face.
"Sand Armor again?!" Lee's voice rang out.
"Then take this!" He flashed in front of Gaara and struck him with a whip kick.
"Swoosh~~~"
Gaara plummeted like a cannonball.
But before hitting the ground, lee appeared again and launched him skyward.
"Bang!" "Bang!" "Bang!"
Gaara was being batted through the air like a sandbag,lee's figure a blur.
"What?!" Even the Hokage and Kazekage were shocked.
Not even they could track lee's movement. His speed was unbelievable.
Snap!
A stray piece of sand struck Sarutobi Hiruzen's wine gourd, turning to dust.
"Has Gaara's sand armor been broken?" he murmured. "If this boy grows up, he could become a pillar of Konoha."
He glanced at the Kazekage.
"You're doing well to keep calm," he thought silently, turning his attention back to the match.
"You are tough," lee said. "Then how about this?"
He turned to look at Neji in the stands.
"Neji, watch closely!"
Everyone shifted their gaze, finally locating lee mid-air.
"I prepared this move for you!"
"But since we won't meet in the finals, I'll show it to you now."
Neji activated his Byakugan and gasped.
"What?! All of his muscles are torn..."
"Lee... why?!" he whispered.
Why go so far when it's clearly a losing fight? Why not accept fate?
"This is the final blow!" Lee declared.
"The Fifth Gate: Gate of Limit... OPEN!"
His punch collided with Gaara.
Boom!
Before Gaara hit the ground,lee's strike had already cratered it.
Gaara then slammed into the pit, enlarging it.
Silence.
The crowd stood frozen.
"F***! Ruthless!" Haruto exclaimed.
"Neji..." Naruto said, swallowing nervously. "What did you do to Lee? Why does he hate you that much?!"
Everyone turned to Neji.
"I..." Neji's mind spun.
"Lee... thank you."
Naruto clapped a hand on his shoulder. "If you ever need it, Team 7's door is open to you."
Ugh...
A voice came from the pit.
"You bastard! How dare you hurt me this much!"
Gaara was still alive.
"His gourd..." Kakashi muttered.
Inside the crater, a massive hand of sand cradled Gaara like a baby.
"It protected him," someone said.
"Alone?" Naruto asked.
"It seems so," Chōji replied.
"Tsk, tsk..." Haruto clicked his tongue. "No power rivals a mother's love."
Kai stood still, stunned.
Even after opening five gates, Lee still couldn't defeat Gaara.
"Die, bug!"
Gaara raised his hand to command sand to crush Lee.
"Stop!" Neji shouted. He recognized that attack. It would turn Lee to pulp.
"Sensei, end the match!"
Kai moved to save Lee but was frozen in place by an overwhelming aura.
"Don't move," Haruto said calmly.
