Isaac grinned when he heard Chairman Lucius.
Chairman Lucius froze, seeing that smile. His face stiffened, as if something unpleasant had crawled into his mouth.
"You earned it already?" he asked.
"Yes."
"That shouldn't be possible. The sixth day isn't even over."
Alice stepped in before Lucius could say more. "He's not lying."
Chairman Lucius turned to her. Then he looked back at Isaac.
A strained smile pulled at the corners of his lips. It was the kind of smile that didn't reach the eyes.
"I see. I'm happy to know you're a capable person."
He didn't mention the deal. There was not a word.
Alice didn't let it slide. "Uncle, you promised him something."
Lucius blinked. "W-What might that be, my dear niece?"
"Me."
Lucius's face drained of color. He stared at Alice for a long second, then shifted his glare to Isaac. His expression was tight, jaw clenched.
Isaac could almost see the internal struggle play out across the man's face.
