Quincys… humans endowed with numerous abilities that distinguish them from ordinary humans. It is said that they are the opposite of Shinigami as a whole. This race holds high spiritual powers, giving them the gift of seeing spirits, having their spiritual consciousness awakened, and thus being able to sense the presence of hollows, as well as the means necessary to confront and exterminate them. This practice caused the Quincys to be almost extinct by the Shinigami in the past, since the excessive extermination of hollows ended up causing a great imbalance in the flow of souls. However… some of these powerful beings still inhabit this world...

It was raining heavily in Karakura. The thick drops of water and the dark clouds that filled the sky turned the afternoon into night. The wind blew fiercely, leaving the city deserted in the middle of the afternoon. But such weather conditions did not represent any impediment to the person who walked calmly along one of the city's streets.
This person was wearing a purple cape that covered his entire body down to his ankles. He wore a suit the same color as the cape, a gray shirt, and a loosely knotted purple tie. The waterproof fabric of the cape kept his clothes dry, and he held the end of the hood over his head so that the wind would not wet his hair, also trying to prevent water from splashing onto the lenses of his glasses.
He stopped walking under a canopy to protect himself from the rain for a moment and took a piece of paper with an address from one of the pockets of his backpack. After putting the backpack back on his back under his cloak, the young man looked around and saw what appeared to be a ramen stand, very common in villages in shinobi countries. The inviting smell of the food soon made the boy's body give the biggest sign that it had been a while since he had eaten. He quickly went to the stand, sitting on one of the empty benches, and was immediately greeted by the attendant there.
- Welcome! Good afternoon, young man. What do you want? - the middle-aged man asks politely, while serving a glass of water to the newcomer.
- Good afternoon. A bowl of shoyu ramen, please.
- Right now.
Leaning his right elbow on the counter as he waited for his meal, removing his hood and revealing his silver hair, the young man reflected on how that place and that food reminded him of another person. An energetic boy who had recently achieved his dream, and was even able to forgive the terrible things he had done, and thanks to that, he was here now. He was taken out of his thoughts when a steaming, tasty bowl of ramen was placed before him, and separating the pair of chopsticks and picking up the spoon, he felt the relief of the hot broth warming the inside of his body, satisfying his hunger and giving him a feeling of comfort due to the cold. However, the tranquility of his meal would not last long.
- One more!
The loud voice and altered tone of the person made the boy with glasses look to his left, immediately assuming an expression of astonishment upon seeing that it was a woman, and that she was completely drunk.
- But, Shiba-san, you've already had too much to drink, and you're barely conscious. Please, it's best to go home for your own good.
- I didn't ask for your opinion, you old fool! Give me another glass of sake and that's it!
Feeling deeply ashamed at how low people could sink, the young man decided to ignore the scandal and finish eating as quickly as possible so he could get out of there. As soon as he finished and paid for his food, he was surprised by the poor cook's distressed cry.
- A doctor, please. - he says when he realizes that the poor drunk girl had just passed out on his counter.
Hearing that, the boy promptly took a case out of his backpack, and supporting the woman's head on his shoulder, tilted her skull back slightly, and made her smell a cotton ball soaked in alcohol, making Shiba slowly recover her senses, even though she was still not in a condition to say anything.
- Master, do you have a lemon in your kitchen?
- Of course, boy, what do you want it for?
- I need you to squeeze the lemon into a glass so she can drink it immediately.
The man agrees and does as he is asked. With effort, the young man gets Shiba to drink the bitter liquid, and it doesn't take long for her to show a slight improvement.
- Amazing. You're a doctor? And yet so young? - the man asks in amazement.
- Let's say yes, but it was nothing serious. - he answers calmly, adjusting his glasses, directing his words to the woman in front of him - Do you feel well enough to go back to your house? It seems like the rain has stopped, anyway.
- I don't think I can do it alone. - he says, still groggy - If it's not an abuse of your good will, could you take me?
Before the boy even realized it, he was already walking with Shiba leaning on his shoulder, but when he tried to ask her for her home address, he was taken by surprise when she fainted right in his arms. He sighed in defeat and concluded that there would be no other way but to take that unknown woman to the apartment he had previously rented, wondering in his mind if that was the welcome that this city was giving him.
...:::~X~:::...
It was already night. The moon was hidden by the clouds, and the ground was still damp from the rain that afternoon. In a quiet and uncrowded square in Karakura, more precisely on one of the benches arranged there, a young couple exchanged a sweet and slow kiss. While their tongues danced harmoniously inside their mouths, the boy's long fingers entwined themselves in the long hairs on the back of the redhead's neck, who was enjoying that pleasurable moment as much as he was. However, before they could even run out of air, the tender kiss was abruptly interrupted when he felt a strong twinge in his right arm, bringing his left hand to the source of his pain, to his girlfriend's astonishment.
- Ishida-kun! Are you okay? - Inoue asks apprehensively - Is that pain again? But it's been more than a week since…
- Don't worry, Inoue-san. - he interrupted her with a simple smile, in order to reassure the redhead - I'm fine, really, after all, you healed my wound, remember? - he lied, because the pain he felt inside was almost unbearable, as if it was tearing his flesh, but he didn't want to worry the young human - Unfortunately, it's getting late. I'll take you home, okay?
- Hmm…
She simply nodded her head, and the couple headed to Orihime's apartment, where Ishida would then head to his own. Holding hands, they walked in silence, each remembering in their own way the beginning of their relationship. Uryuu had always had a special affection for his friend ever since they invaded Soul Society in order to rescue Rukia. He firmly believed that that tender feeling had triggered an overwhelming love, and he waited patiently for the moment to declare his love to her, until, about two months ago, they started dating.
With Inoue, everything happened very differently. The redhead had always been in love with Ichigo, but her hopes were more than destroyed when he and Rukia made their relationship official. The Quincy's declaration was the trigger for her to decide to change her life and try to be happy with someone who truly loved her. Whether that relationship would work out or not, only time would tell. However... little did they know that from afar, from inside a luxurious silver Mercedes , someone was watching them, and seemed quite interested in what he had just seen there
It was almost 9 p.m. Kukkaku was practically passed out on the bed of the young man who had kindly saved her from her drunkenness. He wrapped her in his raincoat, as the tiny piece of red fabric she was wearing as a blouse was not at all suitable for the rainy and windy weather. He carried her home covered, trying to prevent the woman from catching a cold. After sleeping for a few hours, Shiba slowly regained consciousness, when a delicious smell invaded her nostrils, bringing her comfort.
She didn't recognize the place, but it was probably the room of the boy who had helped her in such a deplorable situation. Kukkaku got up with some difficulty, and trying not to make any noise, she decided to investigate the cause of the wonderful aroma of food that spread throughout the apartment and invaded her nostrils, making her stomach grumble, crying out for food. She stopped next to the kitchen door, from where she could see the silver-haired young man with his back to her, cutting some vegetables with extreme skill, while something boiled in two pots placed on the stove next to him. With an apron tied over a shirt whose color matched that of his hair, and with the sleeves rolled up, that mysterious-looking person seemed quite focused on what he was doing.
- I'm glad you're awake. - he says with a discreet smile on his face, even though his back is to her - You must be hungry, so just wait a little longer and it'll be ready soon. You should go back to bed in the meantime.
Kukkaku widened her eyes and blinked several times. How did he know she was there, if she had taken every care not to be heard? And his back was turned. Could she still be drunk, and all of this was just a crazy dream where she was saved by a young, handsome, and talented man? Could the very existence of that kind and helpful boy be another dream caused by too much alcohol? If so, she didn't want to wake up so early. The brunette then accepted the stranger's suggestion without protest, and went back to bed.
Ten minutes later, the entire meal was laid out on the small coffee table next to the bed. Although the apartment was not that small and had a living room with a sofa and another table, the boy thought it best not to make the girl work any harder, and took the entire meal to the table in his own room.
- Please sit down. You need to eat well to regain your strength. - he smiles once more.
The former noblewoman sat on the fluffy rug around the table and looked at all the food. A typical Japanese meal and quite colorful. She wasn't very used to the type of food from the World of the Living, but everything looked so delicious.
- You seem a little hesitant. Here we have miso soup with tofu, scallions and udon, accompanied by a bowl of rice with grilled mackerel and hijiki salad. I hope you like it. - he explains kindly, picking up his chopsticks and starting to eat his own portion.
A few seconds after her host began eating, Kukkaku felt more confident and did the same. She loved food, and she had to admit that this boy knew how to cook divinely well, because everything was delicious. The miso broth brought a comfortable warmth to her insides, and the mild flavor was divine, as was the rest of the food.
When she finished, she stared at the floor. She felt ashamed of having gotten drunk again, but at the same time, her heart experienced a new kind of emotion that she could not explain, but which was very pleasant: the simple tenderness of being helped by someone.
- Thank you… for everything. - she breaks the silence, surprising him - I'm embarrassed for having caused you trouble. I think I'd better leave now.
Kukkaku stands up abruptly, and the boy follows her movement, but she loses her balance when she feels a strong vertigo. The boy's incredible reflexes make him support her in his arms and carefully place her on the bed.
- It's not very wise to go out in the state you're in. - he says in an extremely calm tone - Alcohol poisoning doesn't leave the body in such a short time. It's better to rest here, even if it's just for tonight. - he concludes, adjusting his glasses against his face, before completing his thought - You need a good cup of strong, bitter coffee, but it's better to leave it for tomorrow, otherwise you won't be able to sleep.
Kukkaku was increasingly confused. How much more was this unknown young man going to surprise her? Her face was slightly flushed, and she felt his hand rest on her forehead for a few moments.
- It's probably a 39ºC fever caused by some intense or recurring emotional stress, added to the wind we caught a little while ago.
- Alcohol poisoning? Fever? - the brunette thinks in shock, blinking several times - Are you by any chance a doctor?
The dry and direct question does not change the boy's neutral expression, who ends up noticing several cuts and scratches on the girl's right knee, and these injuries spread to her shin, which he only noticed because of the slit in the long skirt she was wearing. Silently, he places his hand on the affected area, and a green energy begins to flow through it to Kukkaku's body. By using his Chakra, Kabuto's eyes take on a golden color, like Orochimaru's eyes, being the only aftermath left on his body after his former master took his DNA back. As soon as he begins to use his Medical Ninjutsu, the small cuts disappear almost instantly, making the woman assume an expression of pure shock, which was only not greater because he had his face turned away, not allowing her to see the change in his eyes, which returned to black as soon as he finished.
- Indeed… I guess I can say I'm a doctor.
- What is your name?
- Yakushi… Kabuto Yakushi. I apologize for not telling you before, although the correct thing would have been for you to say your name before asking mine. - he answers calmly, maintaining his friendly expression.
- Sorry, Doctor. - She scratches her head a little awkwardly - My name is Kukkaku Shiba. But your name doesn't explain what you just did. Are you a Shinigami by any chance? - She asks apprehensively, but he doesn't seem to be impressed by that question that seemed more like an accusation.
- Shiba-san, right? - he begins to gather the utensils they used to eat - I'm afraid I have to disappoint you, but I'm not what you just called a "Shinigami".
- But how could it not be? What you did just now wasn't a cure kido?
- Kido? I can't clearly understand what you're trying to tell me, but it might be because of the fever you're feeling right now. - the platinum-haired man replies firmly - Instead of worrying about whether or not I'm what you think I am, it would be more logical to prioritize your own recovery. I recommend that you sleep for now. - he says calmly as he gives her a fever pill and a glass of water, which Shiba ends up drinking without question.
- This guy is definitely a doctor... he sounds just like one. - he thinks to himself, as he closes his eyes.
When Kukkaku finally falls asleep, Kabuto places a fever patch on her forehead to enhance the effects of the medicine. Afterwards, he takes a hot bath, puts on a pair of comfortable long-sleeved pajamas, and lies down on the couch to rest, as it has certainly been a long day…
...:::~X~:::...
The gate of the imposing Ishida mansion opens, allowing the car to enter. After parking it in the large garage, the owner of the property heads to the main hall, climbing the stairs towards his bedroom. Once there, he hangs his jacket on a tripod next to a large closet, takes off his tie and opens his blue shirt. Relaxed, he lies down on the king-size bed, reflecting on what he saw before arriving at his home.
His son, Uryuu, was happy and apparently well. He didn't know he was dating someone, since they both live apart, but that night, he decided to follow the young man secretly, because about a week ago, he felt a kind of bad omen about him, a sudden anguish, and decided to check if his only son was okay.
Upon concluding that Uryuu was in a romantic relationship, he felt a mixture of relief and fear, because although seeing him happy was good, it could also be the case that the relationship did not work out in the future, causing the usual disappointment that everyone must experience in their lives. Reflecting on this took Ryuuken Ishida to the most delicate point: his own interior.
He remembered that he had never truly fallen in love in his life, and even though he had been a widower for years, he was more concerned with maintaining his profession than meeting people, rarely getting involved with women he wasn't interested in, only to satisfy his sporadic sexual needs. At that moment, he noticed how empty and dull his life was, with nothing that fulfilled him completely other than his arduous mission of saving lives in his hospital.
Leaving aside so many thoughts that would take him nowhere, the platinum-haired man went to the bathroom in his suite, where he relaxed in the warm waters of his whirlpool, before enjoying a peaceful and well-deserved night's sleep
Walking aimlessly through the streets of Karakura towards his apartment after leaving Orihime at home, Uryuu stops walking when he sees a certain place. He was near the city park, and like a flash, images were forming in his mind. The moment when he was hit by a hollow's cero. He had a vision of him and his girlfriend leaving a movie theater, and suddenly, a gorge opens in the sky, followed by a considerable number of Gillians, which the Quincy defeats without much trouble. However, an Adjucha infiltrated among them hits him in the arm when he stands in front of Inoue, in order to protect her. Everything happened very quickly, and neither of them could identify where or even which hollow the cero came from.
Thoughtfully, Ishida puts his left hand back to the injured area. Although the pain was not present at that moment, his soul was very worried, since, even though Orihime had used her powers, the effects of the wound returned, causing a notable apprehension in the brunette, especially considering that hollows are very dangerous for the Quincys.
Arriving at his apartment, he goes to his bedroom, where he takes off the shirt he was wearing and looks at himself in the closet mirror. Amazingly, his skin was intact, however, the consequences of that night would still prove terrible in the very near future...
...:::~X~:::...
The day was about to dawn when Kukkaku opened her eyes. She felt the medicinal patch stuck to her forehead come off as she rubbed her temples. Surprisingly, she was feeling relatively well, compared to her previous hangovers, where she would wake up the next day feeling as if she had been run over by a truck. This time, she woke up with a slight headache and feeling unwell, still a consequence of the fever. She had to admit that she owed her current condition to that unknown young man, who by some force of the heavens, appeared to help her. She felt moved by this. She was not used to kindness, but above all, the mysterious boy who introduced himself as Kabuto Yakushi was an enigma, and Kukkaku Shiba loved enigmas. That was what she thought as a mischievous smile played on her lips.
She decided to get up, and as the curious person she was, she went to spy on the owner of the house. Kukkaku went to the living room, where she found the young man asleep. His glasses were on the small table next to the lamp next to the sofa, the silver threads spread across the pillow. His calm and even childish face caught Shiba's attention, who smiled weakly.
- Wow... but this little rascal is actually very handsome. - she thought to herself, but shook her head, as she found him very young. Her level of "excitement" for handsome male specimens also had its limits.
Judging by the appearance of the apartment and the backpack he was carrying, Kukkaku deduced that the boy had just arrived in the city. Curious, she went to the backpack that was half open and took out a kind of box. Inside it was a set of scalpels, scissors, and other medical instruments, as well as a few pieces of clothing and a notebook. The brunette looked at the boy again. He was sleeping soundly. His eyelids were heavy. Kabuto seemed genuinely exhausted. Kukkaku assertively deduced that it could be from the trip. She then decided to go back to bed and let him rest until he woke up on his own.
And that was exactly what happened when the clock struck around eight in the morning. Kabuto woke up after a well-deserved night's rest. He looked at the time in alarm. It was the first time he had woken up so late since he could remember, as he was always very busy with his experiments and medical work, and it wasn't uncommon for him to stay up all night working. But he was really tired. The trip had been long, and had consumed more of his chakra than he had anticipated. After slowly sitting down, he took one of his hands to the small table, ran his hand through his hair, making its usual ponytail, and put on his glasses. Looking at the coffee table, he was surprised to see breakfast ready, and Kukkaku sitting in front of him, smiling slightly, with her green eyes shining at him.
- Good morning, Kabuto-sensei.
- Kabuto... sensei?
His expression was one of pure confusion. Yakushi remembered that the only people who called him that were his test subjects during the time he worked for Orochimaru. It seemed strange to hear someone addressing him like that outside of an environment that didn't bring back any memories he could be proud of, if he could even think of it that way. That was when the voice of the unknown woman interrupted his thoughts.
- I think it's natural. Since you're a doctor and you helped me, this should be the most appropriate way to call you, right? - she jokes, winking at him - Since I already feel better thanks to you, I wanted to repay you with this meal. I hope you like it.
The platinum haired man nodded and sat down, picking up the pair of chopsticks.
- Itadakimasu.
Kabuto then tried the fried egg. It was burnt and extremely salty. The miso soup was way too rich. It was all terrible, and the poor guy had to run to the bathroom to spit it all out and quickly brush his teeth.
- Huh? Kabuto-sensei, is everything okay? Didn't you like the food? - the brunette asks confused.
- Have you tried it?
- Not yet. - She scratches her head, somewhat embarrassed.
- I think I should.
After tasting the meal, Shiba had the same reaction as Kabuto, and ran to spit out the mess.
- I'm sorry... cooking isn't one of my specialties, but I wanted to try anyway, and it didn't work out very well. - she says, looking downcast and embarrassed.
- Don't worry about it, what matters is that your intentions were good. You can leave the food with me, okay? - he offers her another one of his kind smiles, which she immediately returns.
- Listen, Kabuto-sensei, is this your first time in this city? I've never seen you around here.
- Yes. I got here yesterday afternoon a little before we met at the ramen stand. - he answers bluntly, focused on his work at the stove - I know it's none of my business, and I apologize for being rude, but why did you drink like that? - It was his turn to ask.
An awkward silence formed between them, and soon Kukkaku's face was invaded by shy but uncomfortable tears, which appeared every now and then without permission. The boy bitterly regretted the question when he saw that it did nothing good for her.
- Sorry. I didn't mean to bring up bad memories. Just forget the question and relax. - he concluded, placing a steaming cup of coffee in front of her and some cookies on a plate, while preparing the bowls of soup.
Kukkaku closed her fingers over the fabric of her skirt, crumpling it. She felt like she really needed to talk to someone, and who better than him? That guy didn't know anything about her, so he would be able to listen to her problems and understand her much better than anyone who already knew her story, without demands or any kind of criticism. She began to drink the hot liquid carefully, feeling that it would do a lot of good for her headache. Kabuto did the same and ate in silence, giving her space to speak up when she felt safe to do so.
Not long after, Shiba began to speak, and Kabuto's attentive gaze fixed on her, showing that he was willing to listen with great consideration.
- I... have always lived an empty life. I have had some losses... my brother died in the line of duty in circumstances that to this day seem somewhat dark and nebulous to me. I have also never been lucky in love. I always end up being abandoned or replaced by someone else. And with each disappointment, I feel my being sinking deeper and deeper, so I give in to alcohol trying to forget these frustrations, but when I wake up the next day, I feel sick from the effects of the drink and with my emotions increasingly devastated. A tomorrow always worse than yesterday, where life seems to make less and less sense. It is very desperate and I don't know what to do anymore. - she spills her entire story in one go, and bursts into tears right after, under the young doctor's sorrowful gaze.
Kabuto walks around the table and gently places a kiss on Shiba's right hand, who feels his heart warmed by yet another gesture of his.
- Believe me… I know how you feel. - he helps Shiba dry the tears from her face, arousing the former noblewoman's curiosity even more - I'm not an expert on romances, but I think you'll find the right person one day. A man who will love you with all his heart and never abandon you.
- Thank you. You're so cute. Do you mind telling me a little more about yourself too? - She gives him a pleading, almost childish look.
- In my case, I never knew my place in the world. I don't know who my parents are, if I have any other family members, much less my real name. - he looks away, looking out the window and the birds flying outside - I was found as a child and raised in an orphanage. When they found me, I had a head injury and no memory. I was only five years old. But I feel a terrible emptiness for not having my own identity. I just wanted to find... my true self. - he finishes his story with his head downcast.
Kabuto omitted the fact that he was a ninja, in the same way that Kukkaku did not say that he was a soul. It was logical that for both of them it was convenient to hide these "small details".
- It must be terrible not knowing who you really are and having no one to lean on. I'm so sorry. - Kukkaku said sadly.
- Since we're being honest... can you trust me to tell you what happened to your right-hand man? He doesn't seem to be alive.
- But what do you mean? What are you talking about? - He widens his eyes and blinks several times in shock.
- Sorry for the indiscretion. What I just said sounds like complete madness. Forget it. If you'll allow me... - he places his hand on Kukkaku's forehead, checking that his temperature was normal - He no longer has a fever. If you're taking a doctor's advice, you shouldn't drink, okay? Then Kabuto-sensei declares that you're discharged. - he smiles amiably, which is immediately reciprocated - Now, if you don't mind, I need to take a shower, go out to buy some things and get settled in. You can stay here as long as you want. - he says kindly.
Kukkaku followed the boy with his gaze until he entered the bathroom. It was obvious that he was no ordinary doctor. How was Kabuto able to know about her arm if she was wearing a gigai in the living world that made her look like a human without any flaws? Did he see through the gigai? But if Kabuto Yakushi was not a Shinigami, then who was that mysterious man really
When Kabuto finished his bath and came out wearing a purple robe with a towel drying his long silver hair, Kukkaku was no longer there. On the table in the room was a note, which the doctor picked up and read without delay.
" Thank you so much for your kindness and for healing me. Welcome to Karakura. I'll be visiting soon. I wish I could be your friend. Good luck on your new journey, handsome Kabuto-sensei! - Kukkaku Shiba."
Kabuto blushed as he read the last sentence, especially since beneath the brunette's signature was a kiss left by her on the paper with a lipstick mark. He thanked the heavens that she hadn't done it herself, otherwise he would have been redder than a tomato. The Medical Ninja had always considered himself a shy and withdrawn man, and girls weren't listed among his best specialties.
Looking at the sink, the platinum-haired man notices that the dishes were clean. She had been very kind before leaving. Kabuto had no idea how explosive, loud and aggressive Shiba could be, but fortunately the Medical Ninja treated her with kindness and courtesy and received the same in return. He gives a slight smile, and putting on his suit again, he decides to go out into the city. Kabuto needed a lot of things to make his new home the way he wanted, and to do so, he would have to buy some things. The day would be long…
...:::~X~:::...
The sound of hard, hurried footsteps could be heard shrilly in the corridors leading to the Hokage's office. The second person was having trouble keeping up with the one in front, as he tried to run with a little pig in his arms. The blonde opened the office door like lightning, causing the acting Hokage to raise an eyebrow in confusion.
- Is there a problem, Tsunade-san? - he asks in his usual excessively calm, almost irritating tone.
- Have you lost your mind, Kakashi? - the woman screams at the top of her lungs - You've barely become Hokage and you're already doing shit?
- Could you be more specific? I don't know what you're referring to. - the platinum-haired boy yawns boredly, making a vein pop out on the legendary kunoichi's forehead.
- Don't play dumb. Of course I'm talking about Kabuto Yakushi! - she exclaims, giving a strong slap on the table, which only doesn't split in half because she controlled herself as much as possible.
- Hmm… and what about him?
- You let him leave Konoha without any kind of restriction or anyone to watch his steps. Has he gone crazy?
- According to Orochimaru's own words, Kabuto has a minimal chance of doing something harmful again, so I see no reason for you to worry so much. - he gives a slight sigh of tiredness - Besides, his regret is genuine. The fact that Kabuto broke Itachi's genjutsu leaves no doubt about that. Just let the boy follow his own journey in search of the identity he so longs to find.
- It's not that simple! I don't agree with letting such powerful and dangerous Ninjas as Orochimaru and Kabuto loose out there doing whatever they want and you know that. - he retorts with extreme anger in his voice - I just hope that the excessive naivety that you and Naruto showed towards those two doesn't bring serious consequences in the near future. Come on, Shizune.
She turns on her heel, leaving with blood in her eyes, followed by her faithful assistant, who simply remained silent. She goes to the library, from where she takes out a specific folder, and takes it with her. Yamato passes them both in the hallway, but doesn't dare say anything when he sees the altered state of his former superior, going straight to Kakashi.
- What's wrong, Kakashi-senpai? Is Tsunade-sama in trouble? She looked furious.
- And she is, but I don't have time to explain the details now, my friend, I just want to ask you a very important favor, since you showed up at the right time. Please follow Tsunade-san everywhere and inform me if she does anything crazy.
- Are you telling me to spy on the former Hokage? This could end up costing me my life. - Yamato replies, stunned.
- If it wasn't something of utmost importance, I wouldn't be asking. But I know you have enough ability and skill for such a task, my friend. - he smiles mischievously - Honor our title of highly trained Root ANBU. Now go quickly, I'm counting on you.
Extremely upset, Yamato disappears into thin air without further questioning, even though he did not agree with that unusual mission that was given to him in a hurry, promising that his old friend would pay for it, if anything happened to him. It was at times like these that he was not at all proud of the trust that was directed at him, much less of having been a member of Root.
- Damn Danzou. - the brunette grits his teeth in hatred, promising to get revenge on Kakashi again.
...:::~X~:::...
It was a beautiful night with a clear, starry sky, and an iconic crescent moon reigned throughout Soul Society. The surrounding landscape, close to the east side of one of the Sereitei gates, was made up of a verdant forest of low trees, a mountain, and an imposing waterfall, which had warm waters in the summer, and very cold in the winter.
In the river that led to the waterfall, which in some areas of its length widened into an inviting lagoon of calm waters, a beautiful woman was swimming, showing off her exuberant naked body. She floated at times, admiring the moon, and a smile of satisfaction adorned her full lips without her noticing. The brunette was in love with the crescent moon. She found its shape in the sky magnificent, and that particular phase of the moon brought back unforgettable memories of the happy times when her brother, Kaien, was alive.
Not long after, she came out of the water, picking up her clothes, tying the red and white robe at both ends, as well as putting on the long white skirt, which exposed her shapely and thick right thigh.
- I still can't believe it... - he observes as he brings his left hand to his right shoulder, going down his fake arm - How did that boy realize that my arm wasn't...?
Kukkaku's thoughts were now focused on the mysterious young man she had met the day before. She couldn't deny that Kabuto had touched her. It was the first time someone had treated her with kindness without asking for anything in return. He was a complete stranger who had just arrived in town. The doctor didn't even know her own apartment, yet he didn't hesitate to take her with him and heal her. More than that, Yakushi didn't even dare to look at her disrespectfully, something that was common for Shiba. She had to deal with perverted men staring at her cleavage almost every day, and she hated to admit that she even enjoyed beating up those perverts to pass the time. The only thing she knew was that she wanted to see that kind young man again. She promised to visit him soon in the note she left.
Changing the focus of her thoughts, Shiba takes the newest model of bright red denreishinki from her skirt pocket, dialing without delay, and is answered just as quickly.
- What do you want…? - asks the drawn-out voice on the other end of the line in a tone that is anything but happy.
- Oh, you grumpy little cat! - he rolls his green orbs with boredom - You live with that sleepy cat voice and that dog mood. At least you could serve your best friend with a little more contentment.
- And look who's talking... about "dog humor"? - he says between one yawn and another - Tell me why you called me, because I want to keep sleeping.
- Asleep? I know... you must be fucking that fool Kisuke until you pass out! - he bursts out laughing, while the princess makes a horrible face, despite not being able to be seen by her friend.
- You don't know anything! - she shouts angrily - You have no idea about the scandal Isshin caused here last night behind you, and we didn't know where to find you. You keep doing crazy things like drinking until you fall over, sleeping with strangers and getting dumped. Grow up, Kukkaku! Don't act like a five-year-old child that everyone has to take care of. - the anger was palpable in her voice, and at the same time, the brunette hears the sound of the call being cut off. Shihoin was really very angry.
Head down after the tremendous scolding she received, Kukkaku heads towards her iconic residence at a slow pace. Normally she would be furious at her feline friend's unkind reaction, but precisely because she liked her, her irritation gave way to a hint of sadness, as she felt belittled, as if somehow she meant nothing to someone she loved like a sister. Her mind goes back to Kabuto, and she realizes that a stranger knew how to listen and understand her laments and feelings better than her friend of centuries.
Shaking his head as if he were thinking a resounding "fuck it" to his current lament, he enters his house, more precisely his room, where he grabs a towel to dry his layered and soaked hair. He sits in front of the dressing table, looking at himself in the mirror as he runs the brush through his hair, remembering Yoruichi's words.
- Arrrrgggg! What the hell! Why do I have to listen to that slutty cat if all she knows how to do is criticize me? - he finishes what he was doing, and immediately throws himself on his soft bed, where he would at least try to sleep, trying to erase that unpleasant moment from his mind
Kabuto spent the entire day out looking for the most urgent things he needed to buy. His last stop was at a food stall, where he tried okonomiyaki and tenpura. Everything was delicious, and he even took a good portion of it home to eat the next day.
Arriving at his new home, the young man concluded that the best place to start the change was his bedroom. He then changed the bed linens for grayish sheets and pillowcases of the same color with a purple duvet on top. These were Kabuto's favorite colors, as were his Ninja clothes and the suit he was now wearing. The platinum-haired man also bought formal clothes, mostly purple, black and gray shoes and more sober shirts and ties. He liked this more formal style, and thought that it would give a more normal image to the people of that city. Subconsciously, it was how a doctor should look.
In the most private part of the apartment there was a second bedroom. This extra room would be very important, as the former ANBU would not give up on keeping his studies and research on the human body alive. He still did not know what he was going to do in that city, nor did he expect to find peace in his heart. Kabuto did not know what it was to have hope for the future, nor did he believe that he deserved such a thing. His previous actions were unforgivable, and his presence in the new city was just an attempt to start his life over, even though he knew that someone like him only deserved to be dead.
Leaving aside his bad thoughts, the young man rolled up his sleeves and prioritized doing a good cleaning of the whole place. He intended to tidy up his little corner in his own way .

Tsunade was staying in a cottage with Shizune on the outskirts of Konoha. The blonde had dark circles under her face, as she had spent the entire night awake examining the ninja records she took from the Hokage Tower library.
Shizune slept peacefully, despite her superior's protests. The two of them didn't know that someone quite well-known was watching them outside.
Yamato was tired. Watching Tsunade stay up all night working was truly impressive, but all he could think about was how exhausted he himself was. Despite the distance he was at, the dark-haired man could almost feel the determination and dedication with which she carried out such a task. He was there completely blind. Kakashi didn't have time to explain anything, and the Jonin didn't even know what Tsunade was so insistent on examining. He just needed to be extra careful not to get caught.
A few minutes later, Shizune woke up, looking at her master from the corner of her eye, fearing that she was awake. To the brunette's surprise, the former Godaime was still glued to the papers, and Shizune only wished that she had the same commitment when she had to deal with the endless paperwork in her days as Hokage. She sighed heavily, already foreseeing what would come next, because when Tsunade got something in her head, no one could make her give up on her ideas.

In a nighttime setting with a starry sky and a temperature that tended towards warm, a man walked aimlessly through a world unknown to him. Surrounded by a low forest and walking on rocky ground, the male figure continued his elegant walk, noticing that the amount of Reishi in that place was practically inexhaustible, something that for him was great, if we think about the combat method of the Quincys.
Despite the high temperature, fog was present in the area, a fact that the man found extremely strange, assertively deducing that the phenomenon was present there intentionally.
Cautiously, he walks slowly until he hears a sound similar to the waters of a river or waterfall. Once there, he notices that the fog is getting thicker and thicker, and guided only by the moonlight, he sees the waterfall not far away. When he turns his blue orbs to the right, he comes across an image. It was a female silhouette. Apparently, she was a woman of average height, with long hair, and what caught his attention the most was her voluptuous body, which just by its shape, one could see that the figure had thick, shapely legs, a thin waist and full breasts.
Seeing only the shadow of such a person, the man with silver locks tries to get closer with the aim of asking in which dimension, or even in which world he was, and in doing so, he ends up falling into the icy waters, and does not remember anything after that...
Sitting in the imposing reclining chair of his office was Ryuuken, who, confused, began to reflect on the brief dream he had just had. Running both hands through his hair, and then over his masculine face, in order to dry the little sweat that had come off it, the Quincy murmured airily:
- Who could that woman be…? I must be working too much. - he observed as he looked out the window, concluding that it was already night. The only thing he did was gather his things and go back home, in order to rest properly.

That night, Uryuu and Orihime arranged to have dinner at Ichigo's house with Rukia. They wanted to celebrate the fact that the two were dating too, just like them, and they had fun eating together in the redhead's room. They had a sort of pizza and soda party while they played video games. At one point, Ishida went down to the bathroom and changed the bandages on the wound on his arm. The fact that the wound wouldn't heal at all, not even with Inoue's powers, was already keeping the Quincy awake at night, and he had no idea what to do, or who to turn to. Leaving the room, the boy came face to face with Isshin, who immediately noticed the expression of pain on the younger man's face, and the way he held his right arm.
- Did something happen, my best friend's son? - he blurted out at once, receiving a fierce look from the young man.
- It's Ishida! My name is Ishida, if you don't mind. - he replies sullenly.
- Okay, sorry. - He scratches his head a little awkwardly and continues in his playful tone - I just asked because I noticed you don't look very well. If you need any help, just say so. - He smiles amused.
- I'm perfectly fine. Thank you for your concern. Excuse me, Kurosaki-san. - he says as politely as possible as he climbs the stairs back to Ichigo's room.
- This brat thinks he can fool me... - he thinks to himself as he enters the bathroom, opens the trash can and sees the blood-stained bandages - I knew something was wrong. Let's see how long he can last without seeking help... Should I tell Ishida?
- Ishida-kun, where were you? I just beat Ichigo in the video game and you didn't see it. - Hime says pouting, but her expression soon changes when she notices her beloved's face - What happened? You look pale. Are you feeling okay?
- I'm fine, Inoue-san. I guess I'm just a little tired from college and everything. Kurosaki, Kuchiki-san, do you mind if we go now? I'm really sleepy. - he says as calmly as possible, trying to appear normal.
- Sure. No problem. Come back whenever you want. You know we'll always be friends. - the brunette answers happily.
Ichigo accompanied the couple of friends to the exit of their house and watched them leave safely. Upon returning, the redhead notices a worried expression on his girlfriend's face.
- What's wrong, Rukia? Is something bothering you?
- Ichigo… I have the impression that Ishida is not well. - he throws out the information all at once, to which Ichigo only assumes a look of pure astonishment.
- What do you mean by "not okay?" Could you be clearer, my love? - she says the last sentence in a slight tone of irony, something that Rukia deeply hated.
- I just had an impression. I can't say if he's not well physically or psychologically, I just felt that something was wrong.
- Hum… - he sits on his bed, bringing the little Shinigami along to his lap - Then the best thing would be to give him time and space. If Ishida wants our help, he will certainly have all our support as friends.
The Shinigami just nodded in affirmation, while losing her breath because of a stolen kiss from her beloved, and they would stay like that for a long time
That same night, Yamato continued to focus on his mission of keeping an eye on Tsunade to find out if she was planning to do the "crazy thing" that Kakashi was thinking she would do. The brunette then sneaked outside the cabin's wall, which luckily for him was made of wood. It was exactly what he needed to camouflage himself, and using a jutsu, he merged with the wood in order to listen to the blonde's conversation with her faithful assistant, while the former was still analyzing the files with a frightening compulsion.
- Tsunade-sama… how long are you going to continue with this? - Shizune asks, full of boredom and also concern, as she only saw her Master act this way when it came to games.
- I'll keep going until I finish examining every detail about everything that has to do with Kabuto Yakushi in these damned files! - he answers impatiently, swallowing a generous sip of tea reluctantly.
- But why worry about that at this time? If you didn't even bother to do such an analysis when the great ninja war was underway, when he was the one responsible for unleashing the Edo Tensei that caused so many problems...
- Quiet, Shizune! You're distracting me. - the blonde cuts her off harshly.
- Whatever. Then I'll go out to eat.
- Okay, go ahead, Shizune. And take the opportunity to get a boyfriend. - he jokes without thinking, causing a huge feeling of embarrassment in poor Shizune, who leaves stomping.
Dying of rage, the brunette leaves the place. Passing outside, she trips over a protruding rock that surrounds a lake located right next to the window of the room where they were staying. Shizune would inevitably fall into the water, but she felt her body being held by some wooden logs that molded themselves around her waist and blinked her eyes, perplexed. When she turned her face to look back, she was surprised to see Yamato, who by pure reflex in saving her, ended up revealing his presence.
- Yamato-san?! - she almost screamed in surprise - What are you doing here disguised like that?
- Shhhiiii! Please keep your voice down… - he scratches the back of his neck nervously - Would it be any use saying that I'm here on vacation? - he receives a negative nod in response, then hearing her stomach growl and her face blush, all at the same time - I can explain everything while we have dinner, okay? I'm hungry too.
Shizune accepts, and a few minutes later, the pair were already serving themselves various typical Japanese snacks at a stall not far from the chalet.
- Eh? So Kakashi-san asked to watch Tsunade-sama? - he says, almost choking on his drink.
- That's right. But he didn't explain anything to me, he just sent me quickly so I wouldn't lose you, and here I am. - he explains quickly, taking a sip of water calmly.
- I think Kakashi-san is right to be worried.
- Shizune-san, if you could tell me what's going on, it would be a great help. I could calm Kakashi-senpai down and preserve my body against any of Tsunade-sama's furious attacks, what do you think? - she said with a look like a lost dog, which for some reason, seemed to touch the back of Shizune's mind.
- Actually… - she lowers her gaze and her head, bringing her hands to her thighs, while kneading the fabric of her black kimono - I also don't agree with what she intends to do. Tsunade-sama is analyzing all the files related to Kabuto Yakushi like crazy. If I know her well, she'll want to go after him wherever he went.
- If Tsunade-sama took this issue personally, she might well want to take it to the extreme. - he eats some of his udon before continuing - But how much can we trust those files?
- What do you mean? Are you saying that there might be false information? - he widens his eyes, looking directly at him.
- Even during the great ninja war, we were unable to gather consistent information about that boy. - he sighs for a few seconds - I heard that Orochimaru even infiltrated false information about Kabuto so that his subordinate could take the chunin exams several times in a row, posing as a simple Konoha genin, when in fact, he already had impressive medical skills that would easily place him in the Jounin rank. Kabuto Yakushi's true origin is unknown even to him, so I think we shouldn't take the contents of those files too seriously. - he finishes his reasoning by placing the pair of chopsticks on the empty bowl.
- I think so too. - She nibbles her thumb uneasily - But please don't tell Tsunade-sama that I told you this, or she'll kill me! - She says in a higher tone, grabbing Yamato's hands between hers almost in desperation. Such contact leaves both of them with flushed faces followed by a mutual smile as they let go of each other's hands.
- Only if you don't also tell her that you saw me around here, and that I blew my cover by stopping a lady from falling into the lake.
Shizune smiled, and the two spent some more time eating, drinking and talking about more pleasant things than the former Hokage's madness. When the kunoichi returned, she saw that her Master seemed to be sleeping comfortably in her futon, so she prepared her own to rest as well, before being surprised.
- It took a while, Shizune. Is it because you got a boyfriend? Or did you end up drinking more than you should have? - she asks mischievously.
- It's nothing like that! - he turns to the opposite side - I just got distracted listening to the fun conversations of the people around me. That's all. - For the first time he lies to his mentor, but he knew it was for a good cause.
- I know…
The woman's irritated expression soon changes to a silly smile when she remembers Yamato, as she never thought the Jounin would be such a nice person to talk to, both about the problems of Shinobi life, and for casual topics as well. Without realizing it, she already felt anxious to talk to him again.
...:::~X~:::...
A little over two weeks had passed. Kukkaku was lying on her bed, twirling a lock of her hair between her fingers, staring at the ceiling, when the figure of a handsome, silver-haired young man invaded her mind. She missed the doctor's food, and also how comfortable it was to talk to him.
She brought her left hand to her false arm, and remembered that Kabuto's words had not left her head. Shiba did not understand how on earth a simple human could have noticed such a detail hidden by the gigai. And if he denied being a Shinigami, the only explanation would be that he was a human being with a high capacity for spiritual perception. Did he see her through the gigai? This doubt did not leave the restless woman's head, otherwise, he would not have asked that question.
- Very good! - he suddenly shouts, jumping out of bed - It's time to pay a visit to the handsome Doctor!
...:::~X~:::...
Kabuto's first two weeks in the new city served to put his thoughts in order. The apartment was already tidy and set up the way he needed, but the boy still wasn't sure about what direction he would take, or what he would do with his life. The first thing he thought about was getting a job, but where exactly, if his only talent was healing people? (Or killing them). He wasn't used to that kind of city, since he had lived his whole life in Shinobi countries.
After getting up, taking a shower and getting dressed properly, the platinum-haired man went to the kitchen and prepared a hearty and filling breakfast. He poured coffee into a cup, along with powdered milk, and with the help of a battery-powered hand mixer, he made a creamy latte, his favorite. Just as he was about to drink the hot liquid, he almost choked when he heard the doorbell of his apartment.
Surprised by someone knocking on his door, he quickly gets up to open it, when he comes face to face with Shiba, who enters the place without even waiting for permission to do so.
- Good morning, handsome Doctor! How are you? - she says without any ceremony, greeting the aforementioned with several pats on the shoulder, and Kabuto just stands there without reacting in front of the energetic woman, even more so when she sits in front of his meal and starts eating - Waa! Food! How delicious! Did you know I was missing your concoction? You cook so well. And what a delicious coffee! - she hisses in wonder, devouring the bowl of rice too.
- Good morning, Shiba-san. - he answers awkwardly, going to the sink, where he takes another cup and starts to prepare another coffee with milk, sitting in front of her - Sorry, I had no idea when you would come, so…
- Oh, damn! I'm the one who apologizes! I ended up eating all your food. But look! - he takes a bottle of the purest sake out of his bag, to Yakushi's surprise - I brought this for our lunch! Let's drink together and gossip a lot.
- Sorry, Shiba-san, I don't drink.
- Really? What a boring life! - she sighs boredly - What fun is life if you can't have a drink every now and then?
- Why do there be people who do this every now and then , am I right? - He looks directly at her, who tries to act innocent.
- What an evil Doctor… - he pouts as he retorts - But what about you? How have you been these last few days? Have you made any friends?
- Not really. - he answers directly, placing his cup on the saucer elegantly.
- But what do you mean?! - he exclaims in surprise - I realized that you're a shy guy and everything, but you need to get out of your shell and meet new people, even to get a job, right? Don't you want to work as a doctor? Isn't that what you know how to do?
- You're right, but it's not that easy. - he lowers his gaze momentarily as he explains - I'm not used to the dynamics of these big cities. The truth is that I'm still very lost here, so I don't feel very motivated to leave the house.
- But to get to know a place and get to know it, you need to go out and get used to it, come on! - he says loudly and in a fun tone - Leave it to me, Kabuto-sensei. - he hits his chest wanting to brag, or draw attention to his vast cleavage - Kukkaku Shiba will show you every hole in this dump of a city!
- Thank you, Shiba-san.
- And stop with that "Shiba-san". You can just call me Kukkaku, okay?
Kabuto responds with a smile, and Kukkaku also smiles widely as he pulls the boy by the arm, literally dragging him out of the apartment towards a long reconnaissance walk throughout Karakura.
...:::~X~:::...
It was almost eleven in the morning in Karakura. A nervous Uryuu walked quickly towards Kisuke's bankrupt store, while passing by a park. Suddenly, he stopped walking when he saw Kukkaku from afar pulling the arm of a boy he had never seen in his life. The brunette shook his head in denial, thinking that Kabuto was just another conquest of the bankrupt noblewoman, and just thinking that she would now be "chasing little boys" made his stomach churn. The Quincy certainly knew how this would end: she would get dumped, spend the entire night drinking and wake up embarrassing herself at Ichigo's house once again, as she always did, after all, it wasn't the first time he had seen this kind of scene at his friend's house.
Ishida left aside these details of other people's lives, because the truth is that the young Quincy was very tense and dejected, especially because the wound on his arm was only getting worse, and he tried to hide this fact from Orihime at any cost, however, the constant pain, and even bleeding, made the dark-haired man's objective increasingly difficult. He quickly heads to Kisuke's store, and when he gets there, he looks at the blond man with the hat with an extremely worried expression.
- Good morning, Ishida-kun. To what do I owe the honor of your sudden visit?
- Stop with the useless formalities. I came here looking for answers
The blond adjusts his hat as he processes what the young Quincy wanted to tell him. He quickly examines the wound on Ishida's arm, who has removed his coat so the Shinigami can see.
- Was it the work of a Hollow?
- Certainly. But the worst thing is that not even Inoue-san was able to cure this effect.
- Ishida-kun… - he scratches his chin with the tip of a fan - You and I both know that Hollows are poisonous to Quincys. If not even Inoue-chan was able to cure him…
- And why do you think I'm here? - he replies worriedly - I don't want to worry you or make you feel useless. I just... I don't know what to do.
- We need to look into this in depth, young man. - he observes assertively, and the dark-haired man nods in agreement - I suggest we talk to your father. Ryuuken Ishida can…
- No way! - he snorted angrily - Everyone knows that I don't get along with him. Please, Urahara-san, don't tell anyone that. - the desperation was almost palpable in the boy's beautiful blue eyes.
- I understand what you mean. But either way, you need to be examined closely. I'll try to figure out what to do in your case. Now go home and try to rest. Call me if anything happens. - he says as calmly as possible.
"That's the deal, then. Thank you, Urahara-san. And please don't tell anyone."
- Okay. I'll be discreet, you know.
The blond watched as Uryuu walked away with slow, hesitant steps. Ishida's story was more worrying than he let on, as he didn't want to distress the boy further. That seemingly small and unimportant injury could have serious consequences, since not even Orihime had been able to reject such an event. But why? What would be the real cause? That was what Kisuke wondered and would try to find out.
...:~X~:...
It was almost lunchtime, and in the meantime, Kukkaku took Kabuto to various places in Karakura so he could familiarize himself. From convenience stores, grocery stores, plazas, shopping malls and shopping centers. She also pointed out Karakura Hospital, suggesting that it was the ideal place for him to work. While dragging the Medical Ninja by the arm as "gently" as she could, Shiba got distracted by looking at a window, giving the platinum-haired guy a tug, which makes him bump into another person's shoulder, who ends up being thrown to the ground with the impact.
- I'm sorry about that! Are you okay? - the ex-ANBU asks worriedly, as he helps the brunette to get up.
- But look what we have here! If it isn't Ichigo's friend Quincy chicken. - Kukkaku provokes the youngest smiling maliciously, to which he holds his right arm due to the pain.
- Shiba-san, aren't you ashamed of walking around with "chickens", as you just called me? Well, just look at him and you'll see that this guy can't be more than twenty years old. - he retorts to the provocation, looking at the platinum-haired man, who only corrects him with his usual calm tone.
- I'm twenty-two.
- Whatever! - the brunette turns her face to Kabuto, and then to Uryuu - And who do you think you are to give your opinion on my life, brat?! - she reprimands him shouting with her index finger pointing at Ishida's face, who, like Yakushi, assumes an expression of astonishment - Mind your own business instead of worrying about the age range of the males I fuck, understand?! - she shouts even louder, and the Medical Ninja starts coughing uncontrollably at her nonsensical words.
- That's not the case. - Kabuto retorts with his face burning red after recovering himself - Kukkaku-san and I are just friends. And by the way, can I help you? Your arm is hurt.
- I don't need any help, thank you. I'm perfectly fine. And you're right, this really isn't my business. - he adjusts his glasses as he looks at the pair as they walk away - Continue the walk. - he says dryly, soon disappearing from their sight.
- Even saying that, I can clearly see that his arm is hurt. - he comments as he also adjusts his glasses, giving him a mysterious air.
- But why do you think that, Kabuto-sensei? - Shiba asks, arching an eyebrow in curiosity.
- I don't think so. - he looks directly into Shiba's green eyes - I'm categorically stating it.
Kabuto's piercing gaze made Kukkaku shiver suddenly. She remembered his comment about her right arm, and how that detail worried her, and that it was even one of the reasons she had come to visit him. She was convinced that he was not an ordinary human, and she needed to get this story straight once and for all. And the first step was to hold his hand tightly with her gigai's right arm, which did not change the boy's expression.
- What do you feel now? Do you think that like Ishida there is something wrong with my arm?
- You're very direct. I like that. - he smiled, adjusting his glasses once more.
- That doesn't answer my question.
- Your arm is completely dead. - he says without filters, to be met with the shocked look of Kukkaku, who after an uncomfortably long moment of silence, decided to speak up.
- How about we go for lunch? I'm starving! We can eat at one of the stalls nearby and have a few drinks. - the platinum-haired man drags her again, with a look of disgust at the idea of having to deal with a drunk Kukkaku again, he continues with her without having a choice, and without understanding why she suddenly changed the subject.
...:~X~:...
During the days that passed, Yamato gathered information about Tsunade's schism towards Kabuto with the help of Shizune, and went to report everything to Kakashi. On the way, he remembered that the last time he went out to eat with Tsunade's assistant, they both ended up drinking a little, and without realizing it, they ended up kissing. This memory brought a cute blush to the Jounin's face, and made him smile. His Shinobi life had never made him think about women, but it was the first time he felt so good and happy with one, but no... even though Kakashi was his best friend and almost a sensei, he wasn't willing to tell anyone about this... at least not yet. The most important thing was to report his information to the Hokage, and that was what he would do as soon as he reached his destination. He recapitulated in his mind everything he heard hidden in the cabin where Tsunade was...
[Yamato Flashback]
- Tsunade-sama, please reconsider. Why can't you enjoy your retirement as Hokage and live peacefully, instead of looking for trouble? - the brunette begs uselessly.
- I already told you no, Shizune! I'm willing to go all the way, and I won't rest until I get my hands on that guy and make sure he no longer poses any threat. - he stomps, drinking a cup of tea.
- And what do you intend to do to find him? I heard that Kabuto Yakushi left Konoha and went far away trying to find his true origin.
- Shizune… have you ever heard of the Shinigamis?
- Shinigamis? - She blinks several times, stunned - Who are they?
- No wonder you don't know... - he sighs, trying to relax, resting his elbows on the solid wood table - I'll tell you everything.
And after Tsunade's long explanation…
- That's incredible, Tsunade-sama! I had no idea that such powerful beings coexist in this world separate from the Ninjas!
- Yes. But these large cities that they look after are very far from the continents inhabited by the Shinobi. In fact, they inhabit a completely different dimension, and only normal humans live in these cities. - he tries to explain in as much detail as possible.
- Wait a minute, Tsunade-sama, are you saying that Kabuto Yakushi traveled to start his life over in that place?
- That's a very valid hypothesis. That sly fellow might think that hiding in a place where no one knows him will make it much easier to carry out his grotesque plans.
- But do you really think he intends to cause misfortune again? Is it really necessary to persecute him like this? - he asks, only to receive a glare from the older woman.
- Damn it, Shizune! What the hell are you, Kakashi and Naruto thinking that you don't see the exponential danger this guy represents? - he snorts as he crosses his arms.
- Ok... it will be as you wish. - she sighs resignedly - Can I ask what you intend to do?
- And isn't it obvious? I'm going to look for our target in Karakura Town. - she smiled like a girl about to do something mischievous.
- What?! - the brunette exclaims in surprise - Tsunade-sama has already discovered the city where Kabuto Yakushi is?
- What's the surprise, my dear Shizune? Being who I am, I can get the most diverse information from people around me. - he boasts and begins to devour a cupcake on the table.
- So? When will we leave? - her assistant asks defeatedly, knowing that it would be impossible to make the blonde change her mind.
- Tomorrow itself.
Shizune swallowed hard. She felt bad for betraying her Master's trust, but she knew it would be better to let Yamato hear everything in secret, and so she did. She just didn't foresee that their last meeting and a few sips of sake would make her smile like a silly girl every time she remembered the kiss they shared, and she just thought about how long she would have to wait to see the sweet Jounin again.
[End of Flashback]
- Is this serious, Yamato?! - Kakashi is extremely surprised, as soon as the wood manipulator finishes his story.
- Yes. It seems so absurd that Shizune-san ended up helping me find out what Tsunade-sama intends to do. - He lowers his worried gaze.
- Alright. I appreciate your effort, Yamato. I'll think about what we'll do next, and when I've decided, I'll call you back.
- Okay, senpai.
With a brief nod, Yamato leaves. Kakashi watches the village through the large window and lets out a long sigh. He was confident that Kabuto had a change of heart. His feat of breaking Izanami was concrete proof of that. He didn't understand Tsunade's fixed idea of chasing him. The human mind was a complete mystery, and the current Hokage would need to think of some kind of plan to avoid conflict, but he knew he would have problems, as the Legendary Doctor was very stubborn.
- Shinigamis… and Ninjas
Kukkaku dragged Kabuto to a food truck where an artisanal burger joint operates. She had overheard a conversation between Ichigo and his friends about these places, and that the snacks they served were delicious. Without any ceremony, the brunette dips her handful of fries into a pot of melted cheddar cheese and puts it in her mouth. Kabuto just watches the scene, admiring the enormous pleasure she feels while eating, while at the same time wondering where all that food went. He watches the woman take a bite of the burger with relish, and almost chokes when he takes a generous sip of soda to recover.
- What's wrong, Kabuto-sensei? Aren't you going to eat? - he says with his mouth full, like an excited child.
The platinum-haired man just smiled at the childish behavior and nodded, starting to taste his snack before it got cold. In fact, it had a very peculiar flavor. The young man didn't remember having eaten anything like it in any of the ninja villages or countries he had visited up until that point in his life, and he knew the ninja countries like no one else, due to his work as a spy. Who knows, maybe being away from all that might have been the best choice? That's what he thought. But the fact that Kukkaku had given up talking after trying to put him against the wall left him very intrigued, but he decided he wouldn't insist, unless she herself decided to tell him.
He happily enjoyed the meal, biting into the burger and chewing calmly, then tasting the fries. Shiba watched the young doctor and smiled like a girl. The man's calm and elegant gestures, his good manners while eating and his serene and well-mannered atmosphere were fascinating, in addition to, of course, his remarkable beauty. It was the first time in a long time that Isshin's niece felt so comfortable in the company of a person. No matter who Kabuto really was, Kukkaku had no doubt that he had already won her admiration and affection.
- Wow... I think I ate too much. - he sighs satisfied, finishing the last sip of the glass of soda with some effort.
- What do you mean? You only ate one combo. - Kukkaku tries to mock him and brag about being a walking eating machine - I've already eaten three hamburgers, two glasses of soda and three portions of fries. The young doctor can't handle anything. - he starts laughing heartily.
- Don't say that. I believe I ate what I needed. On the other hand, Kukkaku-san should avoid excesses in both food and alcohol if he wants to preserve his health. - he smiled amusedly as he appreciated her good mood.
- Cut it out, sensei! We have to enjoy eating as much as we want while we're alive. Once we're in the ditch, it's all over.
- You're right about that. Thank you very much for today. I appreciate you being my only company in this city so far. You've helped me a lot. - He adjusts his glasses in the center of his face, moving some silver strands away from his eyes as he stands up and leaves the money on the counter.
- Wait, are you leaving already, Kabuto-sensei?
- Yes. Kukkaku-san must have other things to do. But come visit me whenever you want. We can go out again like today if I'm not busy.
- Stop it. I have nothing else to do. At least let's go to your apartment together and you can serve me some tea, okay?
- All good.
The two continue walking towards the ex-ANBU's apartment. They walk slowly, as their stomachs are full. Halfway there, Shiba points to an ice cream stand and heads over to it. Suddenly, a gorge begins to open in the sky, and from within it, a Menos Grande emerges. The negative Reiatsu released by the creature is incredible, and Kukkaku soon notices it as he eats his ice cream. Kabuto turns to get a better look at the hollow, but doesn't seem very surprised by what he's seeing.
- Kabuto-sensei! Hurry! Let's get out of here! - the young woman tries to pull him away, but the platinum-haired man doesn't move.
- How interesting. I ended up in a city where monsters fall from the sky. - he comments naturally, and Kukkaku's jaw almost dropped to the floor in surprise.
- WHAT'S UP?! Can you explain to me how you can see this gigantic creature, and even more, how can you be so calm in the face of a threat of this size?! - he shouts, but Yakushi's calm seemed unshakable.
- You can see it too, so what's so strange about it? Should we run away? - he says calmly, unaware of the situation.
- This guy has got to be joking... - he thinks to himself - Where is that useless Ichigo when we need him the most? Inside this useless gigai I can't do anything, much less in front of Doctor Handsome.
Ichigo and Ishida sense the hollow's presence and rush to the scene, but Kabuto and Kukkaku are soon attacked. The Medical Ninja quickly jumps in, catching Kukkaku in his arms as he dodges a barrage of attacks from the hollow. Shiba watches in amazement, and even becomes dizzy at how quickly Kabuto moves.
- How did you do that? What planet did you come from, anyway?
- This is not the time for that kind of questioning. We have to defeat this monster, don't we?
As he turns to answer Kukkaku, Kabuto ends up being grazed in the face and arm by one of the sharp spears, and his blood splashes onto Kukkaku, who screams in fright. Another of the spears hits her hair ribbon, leaving her silver locks free, falling over her face.
- Kabuto-sensei!
- Don't worry. I'll fix it. - he says confidently, adjusting his glasses that were about to fall off, pushing a lock of hair back.
- But what are you saying?! There's no way an ordinary person could defeat this thing. - she retorts annoyed, but is surprised to see that his injuries were healing instantly, at the same time that his black eyes took on a significant golden color - Unless... you're not exactly an ordinary human... - she whispers to herself, seeing Kabuto's right hand release a kind of bluish glow when he activates his Chakra Scalpel without even executing the hand seals.
The ex-ANBU runs at high speed, and with a huge jump, cuts the enormous creature in half precisely and surgically, which disintegrates, making the throat disappear, and the sky return to normal, but before that, he takes a small vial from the inside pocket of his jacket, and collects a kind of sample, putting the vial back in his pocket. Sitting on her butt on the ground, Shiba remained with her green eyes wide and shocked as the boy walked calmly towards her, having his long hair ruffled by the blowing wind. A beautiful sight, she could say.
- Are you okay, Kukkaku-san? Didn't you get hurt? - he asks genuinely concerned.
- I… don't think so. Just a few scratches on my shin. - she answers airily, pointing to the affected area.
- Don't worry, I'll take care of it.
This time, Yakushi's right hand glows green, and he heals the small wounds instantly, while the brunette watches the color of her eyes return to normal once he's done.
- That's right, Doctor… - he confronts him, placing his index finger on the tip of his nose, which doesn't move - Do you have any idea what you just did? You just cut a gigantic hollow in half! That was a…
- Chakra in Mesu - he interrupts her as he answers calmly, as if it were nothing.
- I don't understand that language, but don't change the subject. Are you going to confess who you really are? Because this talk about being "just a doctor" doesn't convince me anymore.
- But I'm a doctor. - he calmly adjusts his glasses, receiving a glare from the brunette for his loose answer before correcting his sentence - A Medical Ninja.
Kukkaku fell on his ass. What do you mean, a Ninja? What the hell was he talking about?
- My intention was to live peacefully in this city, but apparently, there are also interesting things to deal with here. - the lenses of his glasses shine, and Kukkaku could see the glint of excitement in the dark orbs - But what about you? Are you also going to tell me who you are, and why you are using an artificial body? - He also confronts her dryly, and she almost falls back with the size of his perspicacity.
- Okay. I'll tell you everything, but... - she smiled mischievously as she linked her arm through his - Let's go to a bar, and I'll tell you in detail.
And several minutes later…
The pair were at the bar, and Kukkaku had already drunk four shots while explaining to Kabuto everything about the Shinigamis, why she thought he was also a Shinigami, and that she was a Soul. Yakushi processed all the information carefully, and smiled at the corner of his mouth, because despite wanting to live in peace, he was happy to have something in that place that he could research. Shiba also questioned him while continuing to drink.
- What I don't understand is how you saw the hollow and realized that I'm using an artificial body if you're not a Shinigami.
- You know, since I was a child, I've been very talented with Chakra control, and because of that, I learned to use Medical Ninjutsu at a very young age. During my ANBU training, I acquired remarkable knowledge in medicine, and about the human body, so it wasn't very difficult to realize that it was an artificial body. - he explains, finishing a glass of juice.
- Amazing! It seems that Ninjas are really impressive! - she says excitedly, her eyes shining.
- Thank you. I hope you can show me your real arm someday. And who knows, maybe I can help you with that, if you want.
- Are you serious? Kabuto-sensei, you're the best! - he grabs him suddenly, and the platinum-haired man's face flushes with embarrassment - I want you to take me home. I think I'm a little drunk, but I'll eat more.
- Kukkaku-san, there's no way... - he sighs resignedly, but agrees to accompany the energetic woman home, when she finally gets tired of eating and drinking so much
Uryuu approached the place where he felt the Hollow's presence, and found it strange that the creature had simply disappeared, when he didn't feel the Reiatsu of any Shinigami nearby. He decided to walk a little further, until he accidentally found Kukkaku and Kabuto again. Ichigo arrived at the same time, and Kukkaku frowned, thinking she was being chased by the "brats".
- What the hell are those two chickens doing here? Are they trying to follow me? Especially you, Ishida. Have you become my fan or what? - she asks, somewhat altered by the drink. Kabuto just watches in silence.
- It's nothing like that! We're here because we felt the presence of a Hollow, but it disappeared. We're trying to understand why… - Ichigo tried to explain the third time he was hit in the stomach with an elbow from Ishida - Are you crazy? Why did you hit me all of a sudden? - he complains, but soon understands that the brunette was referring to Kabuto's presence, and that he was talking about a Hollow in front of a stranger.
- Is that it? You don't need to worry. Kabuto-sensei here cut a Menos Grande in half! - he says happily, patting the platinum-haired boy on the back, whose face turns blue after being exposed like that.
- So that's why you were with Shiba-san earlier? Which Division are you from, Shinigami? - Ishida confronts him directly.
- No Shinigami. He's a Ninja! - Kukkaku spills without filters, and Yakushi almost bangs his head on the table in disgust.
- Kukkaku-san, you shouldn't have told them any of that. - he complains annoyed.
- No? But you didn't ask me to keep it a secret. - she replies cynically, shaking her index finger in the doctor's face, who sighs in defeat.
- It doesn't matter. I'm going to take you home. My father will give you a terrible scolding for getting in this state again. - Ichigo tries to help Kukkaku get up, but gets a slap on the hand in response.
- Cut it out, Kurosaki! I'll leave whenever I feel like it, and besides, Kabuto-sensei here is the one who's going to take me! - he points at him again.
- Sensei?! - the two boys exclaimed in unison.
- What do you mean? You've now found a private tutor? - the redhead comments confused.
- Come on, don't be stupid! Get out of here and leave me alone!
Kabuto watches the boys leave without reacting, and just thinks to himself that now he understands why she couldn't find a boyfriend who would take her seriously.
- Kabuto-sensei, can I ask a question?
- I have no choice. I realized that your curiosity is as insatiable as your appetite. - I smiled a little awkwardly.
- It's just that when you healed me, your hand glowed green, but when you cut that ugly creature in half it glowed blue. What does that mean?
- That's simple to explain. It turns out that Chakra overflows from my hand according to the jutsu I'm using at the moment. That's why the difference in colors.
The platinum-haired man extends both hands in front of his own torso, and each of them begins to glow in a different color at the same time as his eyes also change color, leaving Kukkaku impressed.
- It's ironic... to think that these hands are hands of healing and death at the same time.
- Amazing! I never imagined that Ninjas existed, much less that they could do such impressive things like this.
- That's why I need your complete discretion. - he scratches his head awkwardly - You can tell others that I'm a doctor, but please don't tell them that I'm a Ninja.
- Understood!
After the shouted response, Kukkaku agrees to finally go home. Yakushi helps the woman walk, as the brunette had difficulty doing it alone. As soon as she crossed the front door of the Kurosaki house, she shouts excitedly:
- Ah, handsome Kabuto-sensei! If you were at least fifteen years older, I swear I would throw you against the wall and give you a good make-out session!
The young man's face burned with shame, and even more so because right in front of them was Isshin accompanied by none other than Ryuuken Ishida.
- So, Kurosaki, did you call me here to talk about something important, or was it for me to witness this kind of spectacle?
Shiba focuses her attentive gaze on the figure of the distinguished man in front of her. The deep, cold voice echoes in her ears, striking her mind as if it were an arrow shot to her heart. The brunette freezes in admiration at the beauty of the platinum haired man. Those indifferent blue eyes protected by the thin lenses of his glasses were so sexy. For an instant, it was as if Kukkaku's wish of seeing Kabuto fifteen years older was coming true. Her eyes had never gazed upon such a handsome man. She was afraid that it was just an illusion caused by the effect of the drink.
- Hey, Uncle Isshin, where did this real prince come from? - the brunette approaches the platinum-haired man, who discreetly avoids a possible grab from the former noblewoman - Why didn't you tell me you had such a handsome friend? You should have introduced me much earlier.
- What a disappointment, Kukkaku! Drinking again? - the older man casts a look of pure revolt on his niece while dying of shame for Ryuuken having witnessed all that - I don't know who you are, boy, but if you were kind enough to bring this degenerate home, I ask that you take her to the room upstairs, if it's not to abuse your generosity. - he turns to Kabuto, who just agrees without saying a single word as he goes upstairs with her.
Yakushi sits his friend up on the bed, watching her airy expression. A typical expression of a girl in love.
- Ah, Kabuto-sensei… that friend of Uncle Isshin's is the best! I need to find out his phone number.
- Have you ever fallen in love so quickly? - the young man asks in surprise, making his typical and usual gesture of adjusting his glasses on his face.
- I know it may sound crazy, but I think so! It seems like that kind of coincidence in life. Just when I had just said that if you were fifteen years older, you wouldn't escape me, and when I looked at that man, it was as if I was really seeing your older version. It was a difficult feeling to explain, but I'm sure it was very strong and overwhelming.
- I think I can understand what you're trying to say. On the other hand, if Kukkaku-san really did take an interest in that man, I'm sorry to say he started off in the wrong way. - He shakes his head, looking down - He must have had a really bad impression of you when he saw you arrive like that. I think you'll have a hard time undoing the bad impression he must have had.
- Damn... it's true! I do everything wrong! - he hits himself on the head - Oh, fuck! That hurts! Kabuto-sensei, please cure my drunkenness immediately. I need to go after that handsome guy to clear things up. - he puts his hands together like a spoiled child asking his parents to be taken out of punishment.
- I'm sorry, but I can't do that.
- Huh? Why not? - he complains, pouting.
- Because Kukkaku-san is no longer a child. I have asked you several times to stop drinking so much, but you did not listen to me. You need to take responsibility for your actions, no matter how bitter the medicine may be.
- What the hell! - She punches the mattress after being contradicted - The worst part is that you're right. But could you at least cure my headache? I promise I'll control my drinking from now on if you cure my hangover just this once. - She smiles mischievously, and Kabuto can't refuse the request of that insane, but very funny woman.
The platinum-haired man then asks her to lie down, and uses his Medical Ninjutsu on Shiba's forehead, who feels a refreshing sensation of getting rid of that terrible pain that seemed to press on his brain. Kabuto uses another medical technique that makes Kukkaku fall asleep instantly, and then he heads to the top of the house's stairs with the clear intention of listening to the two friends' conversation, as he strongly felt that he should do so.
- Tell me, Kurosaki, why did you call me here? And be brief, because I don't have much time.
- Kind as always, my dear friend… - the dark-haired man sighs boredly - I called you here to talk about your son.
- What has Uryuu been up to this time? - the platinum-haired man arches an eyebrow, feeling as if he were being confronted by a school principal in order to complain about his son's behavior.
- This is a serious matter, Ishida. Please sit down. - She points for him to sit on the sofa in front of her, where they serve themselves a cup of coffee.
- No beating around the bush. Just say it.
- Ishida-kun was injured by a Hollow and his life is in danger. - he blurts out at once, and the committed Ryuuken widens his eyes.
- But what are you saying? How can you say something so absurd like that? - he complains, trying to hide his shock.
- Who understands you? - he shrugs in confusion - Did you just tell me not to beat around the bush and then complain that I said it all at once? Make a deal, friend.
- You know I hate your jokes, Kurosaki. Explain Uryuu's real situation right now. - he orders impatiently.
- The truth is that Kisuke came to me a few days ago to tell me that his son came to him to report what happened and that not even Inoue-chan's healing powers were able to nullify the injury caused by the Hollow. He has been keeping this a secret from everyone, including Inoue-chan herself. He asked Kisuke not to tell anyone, but Urahara thought it would be unfair for you, as a father, not to know what is happening so seriously, so he asked me to talk to you. - He tries to explain as briefly as possible.
- But if that's the case, shouldn't you Shinigamis have the solution to this kind of problem? Why wouldn't someone as intelligent as Kisuke Urahara be able to find the cure? - he replied nervously, almost knocking over the cup as he placed it on the table.
- It's not that simple, Ishida. You know that in order to diagnose this kind of thing, we would need to have the genetic material of the creature that attacked him, and in addition, we would also need an entire laboratory structure to perform a clinical analysis of this material, resources that Kisuke, as an exiled and out-of-service Shinigami, currently does not have. - he comments, not at all optimistic.
- What do you suggest we do then? Should we wait for my son to die?
- The most logical alternative would be for Ishida-kun to immediately go to Soul Society to be evaluated by the personnel of Division 12, but I don't know if he, or even you, would accept that.
- I can't stop it. Since it's his life, the top priority must be his complete salvation. - he breathes in defeat, taking off his glasses to massage his temples - what worries me most is that the girl's powers weren't effective, because from what I know, it's not a simple healing power, but rather a force capable of rejecting events. It seems to be more serious than we think.
- Yeah, brother… that's what worried Ishida-kun the most too. It's something totally strange, but we have to treat it as soon as possible before the worst happens.
- Sure. Please keep me informed about everything. I can't tell him that I know the truth, because he'll certainly make a huge fuss, as always.
- Don't worry. Kisuke will try to convince the rebel to accept going to Soul Society.
- Now, changing the subject, what did you think of my niece? She's a hottie, don't you agree? - he chuckles, and Ishida just looks at him seriously.
- Are you talking about that girl who arrived here drunk?
- Yeah!
- I'm not going to be a hypocrite here and say that no one should drink, because I drink too. I just hate women who lose touch with reality when they indulge in a bottle of alcohol, and go around making this kind of shameful spectacle. - he says without any emotion, and Isshin smiles at his friend's always so rigid posture.
- Now, don't be so radical, Ishida. After all, you just said you drink too.
- As I also just said that I don't drink to the point of being in the state in which your "beautiful" niece arrived here. - he makes quotation marks with his fingers, in order to be ironic.
- Okay, okay! - he waves his hands in surrender - That's a deal then. I hope everything is okay with Ishida-kun.
The platinum-haired man leaves his friend's house, and Kabuto, who hid his presence using his espionage skills and had heard everything from the top of the stairs, returns to the room where Kukkaku slept, taking a good look at his friend, foreseeing that she would not like to know that Ryuuken had a bad impression of her. Focusing his mind on what was most important, Yakushi takes the small vial with the sample he collected from the Hollow he defeated earlier from his jacket pocket. The Medical Ninja looks at the object thoughtfully, and concludes that, for some reason, he should do something about it.
- I need to go home and analyze this material immediately.
Meanwhile, Tsunade paid a sudden visit to Kisuke
