"I'm not alone anymore," Riven murmured to himself.
He sat up a little, his arms weak, but steady. The movement reminded him that, yeah—he hadn't eaten in three days. He was starving.
Just as that thought hit, the door creaked open.
Eli poked his head in, balancing a tray in his arms. "You're awake. Again," he noted with a small smile. "Didn't I tell you to sleep?"
Riven shrugged, a cheeky grin tugging at his lips. "I'm hungry."
Eli let out a half-groan, half-laugh. "Why am I not surprised?"
He set the tray down carefully on the side table and helped adjust Riven's pillows. The tray was modest—some broth, soft bread, fruit. Nothing heavy. But it smelled heavenly.
