However they could get their job done much faster and more thoroughly than before under this new system. It wasn't as efficient as she had said but it was highly effective and thorough.
"That's good then, your first real missions would be coming soon but for now focus on training and gathering intelligence because they would help you later, you're dismissed"Bastion said as he turned to the bunch of papers before him
"As you wish, your grace" She replied before bowing and leaving.
Bastion, however, remained as he looked through her report. The numbers were insane but at least now he had an accurate count so he knew how to achieve his goals.
After Dresk left, a knock was heard as another person entered… NoNo matter how Bastion looked at the man, he looked like someone who would probably die soon but yet he sensed an immense vitality in the man
"Your Grace" the man began as he immediately knelt on the ground and prostrated
Seeing this, Bastion was immediately confused, he understood that he was now essentially divine in their eyes but even the lesser servants of the spire have yet to prostrate like this but yet the Chief Astropath of one of the Imperium agencies treated him as such.
"You can rise, come take a seat" Bastion said
It was over the top but then again, was there anything in this world that wasn't over the top so he decided to ignore it. However the man still refused to stand
"I can not bear to raise my face before your Majesty least I soil your presence" the man said as a Bastion frowned
"What is your name?"
"Vaylen Morwen, your Eminence" the man replied
"Well then, Astropath Morwen, I do not appreciate tardiness in my presence, when I speak I expect either it be done or a response be given. I'm this case which do you think I expect from you" Bastion said
He understood he was being unnecessarily mean, however it was needed if not the level of belief he was seeing within the man was astonishing. This man was definitely amongst the many that somehow believed him to truly be a saint.
No, these were the people that took it a step further claiming he was a god or something of that nature. The prayer to close the rift seemed to have elevated his status far beyond normal in the hearts of some people.
So to combat that, he decided it was best to sow some hatred towards him, in them so they can reset their beliefs, otherwise he would have zombies running the government… Again.
"That I seat?" the Astropath replied
"Good now take a seat so we shall begin" Bastion said with a smile as the tension vanished
Seeing that his lord wouldn't relent, Morwen stood up cautiously as he took a seat before the mighty being he now served. The closer he was, the clearer it all was, he had been Chief Astropath for over 80 years and yet this was the first time, he had such a view of the place they called the warp.
His mind was clearer than it had ever been, the constant pushback he always felt from chaos was gone. His mind was quiet for the first time and he could feel power purer than anything he had felt fill him.
"First, thank you for coming… I initially thought we would have to drag this out but thankfully you are willing to work with us" Bastion began
"We could never blaspheme against your Eminence" Morwen replied instantly
"I see… I called you simply to discuss a reform, by next week a decree would be released integrating and reforming most of our existing faculties and the Adeptus Astra Telepathica shall be no different… I was hoping you would assist us through the new Adeptus Scholastica" Bastion said as he passed on the document to him.
From the man's expression, he could tell that he wasn't going to be refused no matter what he was bringing up. This was the fault of blind belief but it also afforded him the chance to be this direct in what he wanted.
"We shall do as you ask, your grace." the man answered without even blinking.
Bastion wanted to stop this but then it served his goal so who was he to reject it for now. With the man's signature, the Adeptus Astra Telepathica was successfully disbanded and reformed as the Adeptus Scholastica (Ministry of Education and research)
