Zara wore an apron over her pajamas as she poured her batter into a preheated waffle maker, closing it to cook.
"Smells amazing," Kendrick said from the doorway.
Zara turned around with a smile, "You're up? And she let you out of bed?" she teased.
Kendrick chuckled, shaking his head as he moved closer. He was in his pants, wearing his white t-shirt that were completely unbuttoned.
Ella had clung to his neck all night, making it nearly impossible to breathe— let alone sleep.
"It's just a night and I am already exhausted. I can't imagine how you cope with them. You're so strong." He said, tucking a strand of her hair behind her ear.
Zara smiled, "I promise she isn't always such a hard person."
"I understand," he replied, his voice calm and soothing. "By the way, are they going to school today? I could drop them later."
Zara shook her head, "No. I need them to rest today and take them for a check up later in the day. They can resume school tomorrow."
