"Adam!"

"Adam!"

"ADAM!"

Adam opened his eyes, a hint of confusion on his face before he realized he was holding a cut log of wood in his hands.

"What?" he muttered, his fingers tightening around the log as he noticed how fragile the material seemed.

"Dear…" But as he stood there, lost, a beautiful voice reached his ears like a sweet melody, a touch full of love and care falling on his shoulder, making him turn to see a lovely face greeting him. "Are you alright?"

Adam blinked, mesmerized by the stunning beauty in front of him. Her blue eyes, as beautiful as the sky, complemented by her blonde hair flowing in the wind. Adam felt as if he were admiring such beauty for the first time, but he knew that was far from true.

Her gentle touch bore not a hint of malice, intoxicating his body and making him crave more and more. God knew how many times he had surrendered to lust in this woman's presence.

Her gaze, her touch, her scent… Adam was confused, but with all that, he already had all his answers.

"..!" Eve, his beautiful wife, gasped when he suddenly grabbed her hands, his warm touch taking her by surprise.

"I'm great now~"

"Uh?" She blushed, not expecting such a seductive tone so suddenly. "W-Well, you were standing still for so long. I thought…"

Adam nodded, seeming to piece together the situation. Some things were still unclear, but he felt it wasn't worth trying to understand them.

He wanted to enjoy this moment for a while.

"My love…" With an affectionate smile, he gently cupped her cheeks. "I'm alright, don't stress so much worrying about your husband."

"A-Ah." Eve nodded, their warm breath mingling in such close proximity. "Okay…"

Adam smiled, satisfied. His eyes, which had been focused on his beloved's beautiful face, moved downward to take in her body, which seemed to pull him like a magnet.

With only leather garments that covered no more than the essentials, Adam had a magnificent view of his wife's feminine figure—her perfectly sculpted curves that could only have been shaped by the divine.

Adam felt tempted every second, as if he didn't already have access to her every day.

Such a feeling… one that could only be sparked by the person he loved most.

"Adam..?-"

Eve, feeling embarrassed by his stare, jumped in surprise when her lips were suddenly taken. It wasn't exactly uncommon, but the ferocity with which he deepened the kiss nearly made her stumble, his strong hand wrapping around her waist to keep her close.

She felt hesitant, but in the face of the kiss filled with love and lust, she was overcome with a tingling sense of intoxication.

!

And as the kiss grew hotter and wetter, she was startled once again when Adam picked her up, rationality returning to her eyes as she pulled away from the kiss, her face deeply flushed.

"D-Dear, wait! We can't!" she said, making Adam blink in confusion as he searched her face for answers. "...We might hurt the baby."

"...Oh!" Realization hit Adam as he turned his gaze to her belly, noticing the small bump on her abdomen. It wasn't very large, so it couldn't have been that many months. "Well, then…"

Taking her lips once more, he pulled her close so he could feel more of her skin. "I'll make sure to be careful."

Eve's cheeks flushed even more, her eyes lowering as she realized there was no way she could convince her husband… Besides, it wasn't like she didn't want it too. She'd be lying if she said she wasn't just as excited.

Adam smiled, moving toward the cabin while still kissing his wife.

Enjoying every second of this moment as if it could disappear at any instant, he showed his love to the woman he adored in the purest way he knew how.

He didn't know exactly what was happening, how he was experiencing this moment so vividly… But whoever was making this possible…

He'd kneel if he had to, just to—

'Let me enjoy this a little longer.'

. . .

"..."

As soon as Adam opened his eyes, he was struck by the slap that was reality. Staring up at a ceiling stained and degraded by time, he remained completely still and silent, taking a moment to shake off the melancholy that threatened to grip his heart.

A dream, nothing more than a dream. Even though it felt so real, even though he could still feel the warmth of his beloved, it had all been just a dream…

'Maybe that's why the old Adam spent so much time sleeping…' He let out a long sigh, collecting himself as he sat up in bed… 'Wait, bed?'

He was surprised when he felt the softness of the mattress, his eyes widening in realization as he noticed a slight movement beside him.

"Mmm~..."

And so, with a bit of confusion on his face, he turned to see a beautiful girl sleeping beside him, her slender arms clinging to his waist like a puppy snuggled against its owner. 'How did this happen?'

He rubbed his forehead, organizing the endless memories that sometimes got in the way of him processing recent events. It didn't take long before he finally remembered that the night before, Asia, unwilling to let him sleep on the couch, insisted they share the same bed.

It was cute how embarrassed she looked suggesting it, but at the same time, determined not to back down. Adam had eventually accepted—at least until he could turn the small storage room into a proper bedroom.

"..." He smiled at the memory, and turning to the cute sleeping face of the girl, he gently patted her head.

"Mm~"

He held back a laugh when he heard her purr like a kitten under his touch. It was strange how similar Asia was to Eve, even in small details like that…

Adam shook his head at the thought, brushing it away like a dark cloud. The last thing he wanted was to feel like a criminal.

With a smooth motion, he got out of bed without disturbing the girl's sleep, placing a pillow in his place so she could cuddle it. A relieved sigh escaped him, and he headed downstairs to the kitchen.

This was a routine he would have to get used to. With Asia living with him, the day-to-day dynamics were bound to change. Besides focusing on his own training, he'd have to figure out a way to strengthen her powers.

Adam sensed potential in Asia, and he wanted to see how far the girl could go. Plus, he wouldn't always be around to protect her, so it was best if she could defend herself in high-risk situations.

As a master of both armed and unarmed combat, physical and technical training came to mind, but he also knew enhancing her healing powers had to be a priority. His knowledge of magic was considerable, but when it came to Sacred Gears, not so much.

Even though he'd been close to some Sacred Gear users, Adam had never managed to wield one himself. His body—or more precisely, his soul—rejected them entirely.

So, despite their interesting powers, Adam never bothered to learn more about them. Unlike magic, where not all systems had been created by God and there was still hope he could use one, Sacred Gears were creations of the divine itself.

Preparing some tea, he left it heating on the stove, sitting in his chair while waiting patiently.

The idea of asking Rias's group to help train her crossed his mind, but he decided to shelve the thought for now. First, he wanted to see how his relationship with the demon princess developed before thinking about that… Besides, even though he believed Rias had good intentions, his prejudice kept him from fully trusting her.

But hey, don't blame him! His life had hit rock bottom thanks to the creator of all demons…

At least, that's what the old Adam used to tell himself.

Sigh. Shaking his head, he moved to the kettle, taking it off the fire and pouring the hot tea into a cup.

'By the way… Didn't she say she'd be coming today?'

Knock knock!

"..." He paused when a knock came at the door, his head slowly turning as he caught the familiar scent he remembered from his war days. "Speak of the devil."

Knock knock!

"Coming!"

Taking a small sip of tea, he moved to the door.

Well, he wasn't really expecting the diplomacy between them to go poorly. In fact, if they maintained a friendly relationship, he might even ask for a few magic books.

Making a contract wasn't of any interest to him—the very idea disgusted him—but friendly exchanges seemed possible.

Well, he'd wait and see, but regardless of what happened, he'd just go with the flow.

He only hoped it wouldn't be a flow of bloodshed.

"Sorry for the wait—"

Opening the door, he went silent when his eyes landed on a boy's face, brown hair in an unappealing style, and matching brown eyes.

"Oh, hello."

He didn't have to think much to figure out who the boy at his door was. A quick glance at four more figures behind him, not too far away, only confirmed what he already knew.

"Hey, I'm Issei Hyoudou." The boy introduced himself, raising his hand. Adam shook it with a nod… though he could tell the boy seemed irritated by something—if the annoyed expression and twitching eyebrow weren't clear signs.

"Adam."

!

With the handshake lasting only a few seconds, Issei flinched when he felt a tingle in his left arm, pulling back with a confused raise of his eyebrows.

"Something wrong?"

But Adam, unaware of what had happened, asked with a bit of concern.

"No, no… I'm fine." Issei looked at his hand with a curious expression.

"Hey, Mr. Adam!"

Adam turned his gaze behind Issei, spotting a smiling Rias waving as she approached.

"Hope we're not being a bother." Issei stepped aside to let her stand face to face with the blond man, their blue eyes locking.

"You warned me, so I was already expecting you." He nodded at her words, and with a welcoming smile, stepped aside to let her in. "How about a drink before we begin?"

Rias sniffed, the sweet scent of tea hitting her nose. "Well, I can't refuse such hospitality, it'd be rude of me."

"Don't be so formal, I'm just a regular guy being nice to his benefactors."

Their interaction felt strangely natural, as if this wasn't only their second meeting. The group members noticed it, especially Akeno, who raised her eyebrows at how genuinely comfortable Rias seemed in front of this man. 'She really is interested in learning more about this man~.'

And of course, the reactions were mixed, as seen with Issei, who, watching their exchanges, bit his thumb nail while glaring intensely at Adam's handsome face. 'Damn it, Kiba's a pretty boy, but this… This is just overkill!'

"Alright, everyone!" Rias turned to her group. "Let's go in and introduce ourselves properly!"

"Right!"

"Got it~"

"Alright…"

"..."

Adam pretended not to notice the golden eyes that seemed to try and stare deep into his soul—eyes coming from the small girl who looked as cute as a kitten but was probably as strong as an ox.

'Damn, that's weird.'

With a smile, he welcomed everyone inside, all entering his home respectfully.

'Well, looks like…

My retirement from the supernatural is officially over.'
