Primrose often wondered why Leofric was so against the idea of letting Lorelle fall in love with him.
Sure, he was immortal and she was mortal, but even if he didn't want to mark her as his mate, couldn't he at least let her spend her life happily by his side?
He might suffer in the end, but if he truly loved her, shouldn't he do everything he could to make the woman he loved happy until the day she died of old age?
Primrose knew not every man was like her husband, someone who, despite being afraid of losing his wife, still chose to make her smile every day.
But still … at the very least, Leofric could try not to irritate Lorelle every single damn time. Maybe he could even love her properly, especially now that he knew her days were limited.
Primrose had always wondered about that, until today, when she finally found the answer.
She stood quietly in front of the door, knowing that Leofric must have sensed her presence.
