William was shocked.
After all, he had just witnessed Rael kill two extremely powerful beings without breaking a sweat.
And yet, that very same person was now trying to recruit him?
If only he could refuse.
But he felt like a "No" would mean certain death.
So in turn...
"What do you mean by subordinate?"
Rael smiled.
"I mean exactly that. Become my subordinate, and I shall spare your life."
There was something in the back of Rael's mind that made him want to keep and nurture William, just to see how far he could climb.
He was someone Rael could obviously turn into his construct and control however he wished, but at the moment, William did not give him any incentive to do so.
William was simply someone who was at the right place and at the right time.
So Rael did not blame him for stealing his shadow.
Really.

But it would not be fine if he refused now.
