Chapter 116 - Piti Joins

The figure inside the tornado in Kenya took down the controlled ones, merely knocking them out while he faced all the opponents coming at him. Paul seized the opportunity to flee with Vera, who was unconscious. "It seems we can't handle that guy for now," he thought, "and I'll have to babysit again, seeing Vera lying there on the desert sand." He climbed back into the capsule with her, escaping the scene and returning to the base.

At the base, Aldos had just finished a meeting when he received a call from Maos ordering him to go immediately to Egypt—it was an order from Zeus. Aldos, the leader of Africa, complied without hesitation and promptly requested a ship, leaving the situation in the hands of a scrawny man who served as his right-hand man. As Aldos departed, Paul arrived at the base carrying the unconscious Vera. They asked the scrawny man where Aldos was, and he informed them that Aldos had been forced to leave urgently.

"How could he leave in the middle of a battle?" Paul exclaimed angrily.

"It was an order from Zeus," replied the man. "I'm in charge now. My name is Limo." He introduced himself to Paul.

"Limo, I'll take care of it," Paul instructed. Limo nodded and began operating a control panel, summoning more controlled units to defeat the intruder on their screens. But it was a poor decision—the figure inside the sandstorm knocked out every opponent in the blink of an eye.

Limo swallowed hard, feeling fear ripple through his body. He turned to Lieutenant Paul and stammered, "We'd better evacuate!" Then he bolted toward the ships.

"What a useless subordinate Aldos left behind," muttered Paul. "Well, we'd better get out of here too, crazy and foolish Vera," he said as he carried her on his back. They boarded a small ship and fled to an unknown destination, watching as the swirling sandstorm approached to destroy the Kenyan base. And so, they abandoned the base in Kenya: Ezequiel and Azulema were nowhere to be found.

The figure within the whirlwind came to a stop, and a burly man emerged, laughing after having defeated everyone. "This will happen all over the world," he mused aloud. "I should contact my unit leader," he said as he placed an earpiece to communicate.

Meanwhile, at the last base on the African continent, Ezequiel was about to board his ship with Azulema and his team when his phone rang. At the other end, a voice teased, "Boss, are you still on vacation?"

Ezequiel, the leader of Unit B, replied, "I didn't leave my vacation for later—I'm on a mission that demands all my attention. Rather, you should tell me how long it'll take you to arrive."

The voice on the phone asked where he was. "Boss?"

Ezequiel, or rather, Unit B's leader, replied, "In Nigeria."

"We're close then," the voice commented. "I'm in Kenya. By the way, you must know about an innumerable number of young people with powers, right?"

"Yes," Ezequiel responded. "They're orphans who were controlled to serve someone else's orders. But how do you know about them, and what are you doing in Kenya?"

"Well, you see, I came here for a couple of things, and along the way, I ran into a group of these kids. I faced them, captured them, and also took down a branch of some company that started with an 'R.' Let me think... it was called Rat, I think."

"By chance, wasn't it Radar?" Ezequiel asked.

"Yeah, that's it, boss. So, you're fighting against that company? They must be the bad guys," the man said, his tone suggesting he was running.

"Aha! That's why we didn't find anything there," Ezequiel remarked. "We were there—why didn't you see us, or why didn't we see you?"

"Well, boss, I defeated them quickly and took all of them to a sort of prison run by a friend nearby who's keeping them in custody," the man explained.

"Good job. Tell him to keep them there—I'll send a couple of cadets to that location to guard them. Adrian has mentioned that he's about to mass-produce the cure for those kids," Ezequiel instructed.

"Yes, sir, I'll send the location immediately." The man sent the coordinates to Ezequiel, who then instructed a few cadets to go and secure that location.

Afterward, Ezequiel spoke again to the person on the line, asking, "How soon can you be here? We're about to leave."

There was only cold silence. "That's strange," muttered Ezequiel. "This guy must have lost signal." As he hung up the phone, he saw someone standing right in front of him.

"Young man, you almost gave me a scare! Don't play tricks on us old folks," scolded the leader of Unit B.

"I'm sorry, sir," the figure replied, revealing a burly man in a red and yellow suit with a huge smile.

"Glad you're here, Piti. Let's go—we've got work to do," Ezequiel said, climbing aboard the ship.

The newcomer in view was Agent B-8, Piti Lowers, aged 15. He wore a striking yellow jacket with a red X embroidered in the center and red accents on the shoulders. His mustard-yellow pants had red kneepads and red lines running along the entire outfit, paired with red sneakers. His curly hair resembled flames, red at the base and blondish-yellow at the top, framing large, innocent-looking sky-blue eyes.

"Come on, hurry up, boy, or we'll leave without you," Ezequiel urged.

Piti quickly entered the ship, where Azulema and Mark were glued together like bees to honey—or rather, Azulema was, while Mark seemed a bit embarrassed. Also present were Teresa, Alicia, and Samanta. Becky was seated in the pilot's cabin.

Ezequiel introduced everyone. All eyes turned to Piti, giving importance to the young man's presence. The boy appeared nervous; hiding inside that whirlwind or tornado must have made him feel invisible since no one could see him. But now, feeling the weight of multiple stares, Ezequiel simply introduced him as Agent B-8, Piti Lowers. Piti blushed slightly and decided to stay off to the side, turning his back to the group.

"It's time to depart," announced Becky, and the ship began to take off.

"All right, team, here we go—be ready!" she declared as the vessel ascended into the sky, disappearing with a streak of light trailing behind it.
