Bang!
Bwaaaahooooooo!!
A gunshot sounded, followed by a screech so loud Hedin felt as if he was struck with a sonic attack.
His steps stumbled as he landed, disoriented by the roar. Gritting his teeth, his eyes snapped upwards, finding the whale curled up in the air.
Pointing his gun again, he pressed the trigger.
Bang!
Shaaaaa!
A flash of light escaped the gun, directly impacting the exposed belly of the whale! The gun, infused with the power of glory could shoot bullets made out of the light of dawn, the temperature of which could reach well over 2000 degrees celsius!
The whale trembled again, it's white scales scorched black. It stumbled in the air, turning it's head towards the ground. The pale yellow eyes as big as a house looked right at Hedin and then, it screamed.
Rooooooaaaarrrr!!!!
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Three more gunshots followed, an an ocean of light began to rise around Hedin.
"Come down here you bastard!" Hedin yelled, his eyes growing eerily in the fog. The whale with it's large body could do nothing as Hedin rained down bullets upon it. It's gills opened up to release more fog; yet, in front of Hedin's miracle infused eyes, it was useless.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
"Al Jiwald!" He yelled.
Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiisssssssss!
A blinding light instantly escaped from his hand, forming into a beam that travelled right towards the whale and pierced it in a single swoop!
Bwaaaahooooooo!
The light continued to travel into the sky and Hedin instantly felt his mana drop.
The beast thrashed around in pain before clarity filled it's mind like cold water. It looked to Hedin who looked as small as an ant on the ground.
And it plummeted.
The fog parted under it's weight as it let gravity pull itself down. It's jaws opened wide, giving rise to a gaping maw that threatened to swallow up an entire army!
Hedin felt strength surge into his legs and squatted down completely. The light rushed into his legs, stream rising from his muscles and he mouthed a single phrase.
"El Akra." A pale light appeared around him, encasing him in a cocoon.
Akra was a spell that was mainly for carrying things easier. It was a simple spell that reduced the fatigue experienced by muscles and increased their effective strength.
El Akra also functioned in a simple way.
It filled the user's core with strength, mainly useful for explosive movement. The effect was intermittent but powerful nonetheless.
As the light covered him, Hedin pushed off with his legs.
And the world blurred around him.
BOOOM!
Whooooosh!!
His figure flew through the air at the speed of a meteor, rushing right through the fog and out of the whale's strike zone.
Instantly, he pointed his gun again and let loose.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
He fired as many times as he could in the air. His speed carried him right outside the zone of the fog and into the empty grassland!
Boom!
Crash!
Crashing into the dirt, he got up and looked again to the whale.
Bwaaahooo!
It roared in defiance as it rose from the ground. The earth was uprooted by it's movements and it was as if an earthquake was happening.
Truly, this beast was fit to be called a natural disaster.
Hedin breathed out a heavy sigh and pointed his gun again. His mana was surging uncontrollably, drawn out by the glory of humanity. It was as if the world itself was supplying him mana, urging him to keep going. The surrounding spirits had inexplicably fled. Perhaps due to the presence of the white whale itself or maybe due to some other reason.
Hedin couldn't be bothered to speculate.
Unfortunately, it meant he would receive no free healing if he were to sustain injury.
Good thing I learnt healing magic beforehand.
"Al Jiwald."
Shiiiiiii!
A blinding light shone again and the beast roared out in pain.
It was not long after that gunshots again began to sound in the air.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The beast strode forth, it's giant form moving the ground itself, destroying the terrain completely. At this point, it was aware that putting in distance was not the way to go. It was also aware that fog was not effective against this new opponent.
It was fast. Disgustingly so. Hedin wondered how such a large being could have such speed, but then, thinking back to some of the things he had seen and heard of, he felt that it's speed was not so exaggerated.
Boom!
The sound barrier broke in a single leap. Hedin jumped far into the air, far above the whale and gripped his cleaver tight.
Bwaaaaa!
The whale roared in defiance, changing course to meet him head on.
And like the wrath of god, Hedin descended in a flash of brilliant light.
Shiiiiiiiiiii!
....
Rumble! Rumble!
A giant army moved through the plains, kicking up dust and dirt in their wake. The moonlight fell upon the faces of the soldiers, each battle hardened and aged. Their armours clicked as they sat upon their ground dragons and carriages.
In the grassy plain, such a large army was a peculiar sight to see.
What was more peculiar, however, was the one leading the army.
It was a woman with sea green hair and green eyes, dressed in tight fitting armour that covered her torso. Under it was a dark blue themed military outfit.
Her eyes were poised and indifferent as she led her men to war. War against a plague that had ran rampant in the world for centuries - one of the three great mabeasts, the White Whale.
Her eyes drifted behind her, where trailed the Sword Demon himself, Wilhelm Van Astrea.
Gone was the butler of the Karsten estate. This was a warrior who had long been put to sleep, once again awakened. His eyes sharp as swords could not be mistaken. In them burned the flames of battle and anticipation.
Crusch turned her head back to the front.
She replayed how the battle would go in her mind again and again, thinking of different ways in which the battle could happen, what abilities the whale might possess, what they would do in case they were overwhelmed.
Regardless, a weight pressed on her heart.
"It'll be okay, Lady Crusch." Felix's voice came from beside her. She didn't turn to meet his gaze but merely nodded.
She hoped so. With all her heart, she hoped so.
Just then, she heard a collection of gasps and murmurs pass above the rumbling sounds of the army's march. She almost turned her head to ask what was the problem.
Almost.
Because just a second later, she found her answer.
Shaaaaaaaaaa!
Her eyes widened as she looked on at the scene in the distant horizon.
A sun.
A sun was rising beyond the grass fields.
"What is-" She spoke unconsciously.
"Lady Crusch!" Felix's alarmed voice came from behind her.
Instantly, she turned her head and found herself stunned.
And then a sea of colours washed over them.
This ocean that seemed to contain all possible colours rushed towards like the light in a manic state, washing over the army and stunning the ground dragons in place. Everyone stopped, wondering what was going on.
Crusch's eyes trembled and she brought a shaky hand to her mouth; letting out a silent gasp.
She knew what this sea was.
Spirits.
Thousands upon thousands of lesser spirits were washing up in waves, travelling right to the source of the light. They ignored everything else in their wake; spirits of all elements - Fire, Water, Earth, Wind, Yin and Yang.
And they were... singing?
Crusch did not understand what was happening. Only that the spirits seemed unusually happy.
"W-what in the world?" She asked, finding her otherwise steady voice stuttering and trembling.
A chill washed over her. Just then, a roar sounded into her ears.
Bwaaahooooooooo!
Her eyes clouded over and a headache began to sprout. She felt as if her head had been hit with a sledgehammer!
Instantly, clarity came over her and a thought appeared in her mind.
The white whale! She gritted her teeth and tried to peer past the moving spirits. She still couldn't see an end to the cascade of colours. If anything, it seemed as if the sea of colours was only rising!
"Enough!" She yelled, unsheathing her sword and slashing into the air.
Whooosh!
Fwish!
A giant gale swept into the air, throwing the spirits away and clearing the space around her!
Right when she did, she turned to the army and exclaimed.
"Someone's fighting the white whale! We need to assist them!"
"Uoooooaaaaah!" Cheers rose into the air and the ground began to tremble again. The ground dragons rode alongside the travelling spirits, vanishing somewhere along the innumerable colours.
...
Slice!
Spurt!
Blood spilled onto Hedin's face as he ran across the body of the white whale, his blade wrapped in glory cutting into the scales. As the blade cut into the skin, the scalding temperature cauterized the wound but the light of twilight opened it up again just a second later.
It was a vicious cycle of pain!
Bwahioooooo!
The whale yelled out in pain, it's gills opening up once again to spill fog all over.
Hedin pulled the cleaver out and ran across it's body. Arriving on top, he allowed his glory filled body to drive the blade deep into the skin!
Spurt!
As that happened, he spread out his hands and concentrated.
The Miracle surged.
The clouds up above parted in irregular patterns and hundreds of raven's clones materialized in the sky.
One by one, they all shot throw the clouds at the speed of sound!
Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom!
Boooom!
Each raven, encased in barrier of glory shredded through the white whale's hide.
The raven's that couldn't go through completely began to transform, the miracle molding their shape into parasites. Slowly, they began to eat away at the inside of the whale!
The whale turned over in the air, unable to cope with the pain.
Hedin fell from it's back, pulling out his sword and releasing various gun shots.
From the corner of his eye, he saw a multitude of colours rushing past the horizon and right towards them!
And somewhere along them, he saw an army.
Reinforcements have arrived! He smiled cheekily under his mask, only now understanding what Crusch had been preparing for and landed squarely on his feet.
The whale toppled over under the assault of the ravens, slanting down towards the ground and rushing at him!
Hedin squatted in a single motion and jumped up!
Boom!
However, just when they were about to meet, the whale opened it's gills and fog rushed out from them.
Thinking nothing of it, Hedin rushed forth.
And then-
Danger! Turn back! You will die!
His eyes widened in disbelief, his intuition screaming at him to stop.
Boom!
His momentum ceased midair. He used the miracle to delete his velocity!
However, it turned out to be too late.
The warning came too late. He had already been too close. The gravity could not pull him down fast enough and he was not quick enough to use the miracle.
And so, the fog enveloped him.
Whooosh!
And everything ceased.
...
"Gasp!" Hedin stood up from his seat, sweat pouring down from his forehead.
"Hedin!" He heard Rem behind him and instantly turned around.
"What are you doing here!?" He yelled at her. Rem flinched, her stature faltering. Just then, Hedin realized where they were.
His eyes widened and he looked around.
He was back at Crusch's mansion.
"What the?" He said, feeling wary and puzzled.
An illusion? He wondered.
"Are you alright?" Rem asked, taking his arm into her hands. She guided him to sit and wiped his sweat with a handkerchief. Then, she poured him some water and made him drink.
"What happened? You suddenly sprang up!" Her tone was laced with worry and confusion.
"Umm...." Hedin was not sure how to continue.
"How did we get back here?" He asked.
"Eh? We came here for you to learn healing magic." Rem replied in a matter-of-factly tone. "Are you feeling okay? Should I go and get Sir Felix?"
"No no." Hedin shook his head and pulled her down to sit with him.
"Rem. Answer me this honestly." He said seriously.
"How many days has it been since we arrived here?"
"Five days." Rem replied seriously.
Hedin turned his gaze upwards. Raven came and landed beside him.
It flapped it's wings and croaked, "Not a dream! Not a dream!"
Suddenly, realization dawned on Hedin.
"Fuck." And he cursed in an extremely non gentlemanly way.
