The old man who became older faster than the world around him emptily looked at the floor.
He emptily looked through the rest of the room, and then emptily looked through his crumbling memories.
Only after looking at the center of the room did his eyes regain a bit of focus. There stood a black cat-shaped figure.
With his gaze not so hazy anymore, he could see the intricate engravings the room was full of.
He smiled.
"Hm."
A happy hum escaped his mouth. It was the first thing that came out of his mouth in a couple of years aside from blood and vomit.
This old man had a regret.
No longer did he remember exactly what it was, but it was still the only thing driving him forward.
Atoning was stupid. It was not something possible for a regret as big as his.
Living with the regret was impossible considering his personality.
And death was something he couldn't do before doing something about this regret.
So there was only one solution left.
"Hm."
Once again, he hummed happily.
Using all the strength he had gained, he had made it possible for himself to use the solution.
He couldn't see beyond walls, but he nonetheless saw it all. On a wall, he saw intricate engravings. Beyond it, he saw a village full of intricate engravings. Beyond that, he saw a city full of intricate engravings. Beyond that, he saw a country full of intricate engravings. And beyond even that, he saw a continent full of intricate engravings.
His gaze focused on the middle of the room.
"Hm."
The solution was ready to be used.
