"It's a little loose," one of the maids said, her voice filled with slight shock and disappointment as they tried to help Rose into one of the dresses.
Rose didn't fault the dress one bit, nor the seamstress. The measurements were clearly taken when she had on a bit more skin. Now, she had lost enough weight for it to show.
"Should I find another that might fit a little tighter?" she asked, offering Rose an apologetic look as though she had gravely offended her.
"No," Rose replied stiffly at the heavy dress. "This is fine."
She still had several questions about the dresses in the wardrobe, but something told her the maids wouldn't have the answer. Besides, she wasn't certain how comfortable she could get with them. The maids didn't seem rude and were very nice and respectful, but Rose carried too many scars to trust kindness easily.
