Chapter 309 - Chapter 306: The Scarlet Witch

Kino and his team arrived at a half-abandoned academy.

Waiting at the gate were Professor X and this timeline's version of Beast, Hank.

"Thank you for your help, Leader," Professor X said from his wheelchair.

"Even though Charles explained it once, I still find it hard to believe," said Hank, the Beast, stunned as he stared at his counterpart across from him.

"There will be a lot more unbelievable things to come," the other Hank chuckled.

"No time for small talk," Kino said seriously. "This timeline is already fragile, and our intrusion by breaking through time will only speed up its collapse. This world has, at most, a day before it's destroyed."

"What do we need to do, Leader?" asked Charles, his face growing solemn.

"You gather the mutants of this world. I'll find the master of this timeline."

———

Jersey City, New Jersey.

Kino knocked on a door in front of him.

It opened quickly, revealing a middle-aged woman. Her first words were, "What trouble has he caused this time? If there's any damage, I'll pay for it."

"No, nothing like that. I'm just here to find someone," Kino said with a smile.

Sometimes, his face had a way of putting people at ease.

"Well, come in, then," Magda said as she stepped aside to let him in.

As Kino entered the house, he saw a little girl sitting on the sofa, wearing a princess tiara and holding a magic wand.

"Hello, beautiful Princess," Kino said with a knight's bow, which made the girl giggle.

"Who are you?" the little girl asked, her wide, innocent eyes full of curiosity.

"If nothing unexpected happens, you'll call me brother-in-law someday," Kino said, smiling at the adorable and youthful Lorna Dane of this world.

His words made Magda's face change slightly.

"Brother-in-law? Are you my upstairs sister's man?" little Lorna asked curiously.

"No, your other sister."

"Another sister? I hope she's not as annoying as the one upstairs," Lorna muttered just as the house suddenly began to tremble violently. It felt like a small earthquake, shaking the furniture and knocking down photos from the walls.

But within seconds, the shaking stopped abruptly.

"Sorry, but we're not accepting visitors right now. Please leave," Magda said as she began pulling on Kino's clothes.

"Please calm down, ma'am," Kino said gently, then tapped her lightly on the forehead.

Immediately, Magda felt her body grow unbearably light, and a wave of sleepiness overwhelmed her. She slowly closed her eyes and collapsed softly onto the couch.

"Let go of my mom!" a blur shot toward Kino like lightning, too fast for the eye to follow.

However, Kino remained calm and quickly placed teleportation portals at his feet and around the area.

The blur crashed straight into one of the portals, unable to dodge in time.

"What… is… hap…pen…ing…" Quicksilver's body fell back and forth endlessly between two teleportation portals.

"Is this magic?" Lorna wasn't scared at all. Instead, her eyes sparkled with curiosity as she leaned in to peek at the portals. She even looked excited.

"Yes. If you want to learn one day, I can teach you. But for now, I have something to take care of. Watch your brother for me," Kino said.

"Mm-hmm, I won't go anywhere," Lorna nodded sweetly, staring at the portals. She even pulled out some candy from her pocket and tossed it in, watching it fall alongside Quicksilver, which made for a hilarious scene.

"You… must… not… go…" Quicksilver shouted anxiously, but he was trapped in the portal loop and couldn't stop Kino.

He glanced at Lorna, whose tiny arms wouldn't survive if he tried grabbing her to escape the loop.

Meanwhile, Kino went upstairs and opened a tightly shut door.

It was a simple bedroom.

On the bed lay a figure with white hair, elderly and frail.

The figure slowly opened her eyes and looked at the stranger who entered.

"Master…" she murmured.

"Hello, Wanda," Kino said as he sat on a nearby chair.

Looking at the old woman, his first impression was that she was powerful—yet incredibly weak at the same time.

Scarlet smoke surrounded the woman, and when it faded, she had returned to her youthful form, now dressed in her classic costume.

"So you've finally come. I was just trying something, didn't expect it to really work. Master~" The Scarlet Witch smiled brightly.

"Was the incident with Wolverine's time-travel your doing?" Kino asked.

"Yes. I originally wanted to go myself and replace the Wanda over there, but I was attacked by a terrifying presence. After that, my essence became tied to this timeline, so I could only send Logan instead," Wanda said with a hint of disappointment, as if she had just missed her goal.

Kino frowned slightly. This Wanda was clearly unstable.

"What's with the timeline being pruned?" he asked.

"I don't know. I just traveled through a few hundred worlds, and then this group of people showed up out of nowhere, claiming I was disrupting time and that I had to be eliminated. I had no choice but to kill them first," she said, blinking her large eyes innocently.

"I see," Kino nodded and stood up, heading for the door.

Click.

The door did not lead to a hallway, but to a void of endless nothingness.

Kino turned around.

"What is this supposed to mean?"

Scarlet Witch let out a lilting laugh. Her voice was melodious like a nightingale's, but carried an eerie chill.

"I spent so much power to bring you here. I'm not letting you go after just a chat. Stay with me, Master~"

As she spoke, she walked gracefully toward Kino, her steps alluring and light.

A subtle, sweet fragrance drifted into Kino's nose as she approached.

She gently reached out and caressed his face. Her fingers were soft and smooth like silk.

At the same time, Kino's eyes began to be covered in a red hue, as if he was falling into a trance.

Scarlet Witch leaned in, slowly rubbing her long, nylon-clad legs against Kino's hand.

Kino lifted his hand—and placed it on her chest.

Wanda stared at him, eyes full of warmth and love. She whispered, "Master~ You can do whatever you want to me, just as long as you stay forever…"

Splurt!

Suddenly, a muffled sound rang out.

A mouthful of crimson blood burst from the Scarlet Witch's lips, splashing across Kino's face.

Kino's right hand had pierced through her chest and was gripping her still-beating heart.

His eyes were cold as ice as he stared into her shocked gaze.

"I think you misunderstood from the beginning. You're not my disciple. If you weren't already dying, I would've killed you the moment you tried to replace Wanda."

With that, Kino's hand clenched.

Crack!

The Scarlet Witch's heart was crushed into a pile of bloody pulp.
