Two days ago.
It had been a slow week, Leonard hadn't called and there were no updates, it was just quiet, something King didn't get often. He wasn't on a break, neither was Leonard.
When he wasn't following Leonard around or fixing whatever nonsense Xavier stirred up, he kept to himself. Nights like this, he liked to sit in that private corner at the club down the street, sipping something strong and ignoring whatever attention girls tried to throw at him.
He hadn't ridden into the sunset in a while, not that he didn't want to, but he intentionally held back from doing that.
He sighed, and looked around, the night felt flat.
The music was alright and people were dancing, the strippers and the ones that had a karaoke session, but nothing held him.
He leaned back in the booth, arms stretched, watching a group of girls dancing near the DJ. One of them caught his eye for a second, but she wasn't the one he was thinking about, at least not tonight.
