WILOW-Ch.377: Mines of Casterly Rock
Casterly Rock, Westerlands
POV of Domeric Bolton
Domeric looked at the plump woman with the large tits and mused at how the woman looked so much like Molly Weasley if you only take their figure into account.
From what he knew, Lady Genna had been a great beauty in her youth. Being married to a Frey would do this to anyone.
And her betrothal became one of the most significant sources of ridicule in Westeros at the time.
Genna's father, Lord Tytos Lannister, wanted to be someone liked and loved by everyone.
Sensing that weakness, Walder Frey, Lord of the Crossing in the Riverlands, convinced Tytos to betroth his only daughter to one of Walder's sons.
As such, in 252 AC, at the young age of seven, Genna was betrothed to Emmon Frey, Walder's second son and seven years her senior. This was announced at a feast at Casterly Rock, with half the nobility of the Westerlands in attendance.
The only person who opposed the match was her eldest brother, Tywin Lannister. But Lord Tytos ignored Tywin's objections, and the betrothal remained as it was.
After their marriage, Emmon Frey remained at Casterly Rock, where Genna and her family have lived ever since. Therefore, most people still see her as a Lannister rather than a Frey.
And… her head was currently covered in a white bandage. She suffered a wound when her own men deserted the gates and trampled on her during the panic.
The image of five-meter-tall giants, clad in full-body armor and armed with massive weapons, running towards you, had that kind of effect on people.
Domeric was glad that she was alive. Tyrion would be terribly upset if his dear aunt died in such a manner.
If nothing else, he respected her for her bravery and her determination to lead the men and die with them if push came to shove.
The push did come to shove… and now here they were.
The woman glared daggers at him, and a simple use of surface legilimency told him why.
Two of her boys died in the battle against his army outside Riverrun. The third one was currently a captive in Riverrun. And if the fourth one had tried to fight against his men when they started scouring the castle… then he might be dead as well.
He pitied the woman.
No parent should ever see the death of their own children. Or so he'd been told.
Well... that was what she thought.
Domeric had secured his son's safety in the castle before the war began. After all, he had made a promise to Tyrion, and he would do everything in his power to keep it.
"Lady Genna." He said and passed her some water across the table.
The woman fought against her restraints, moving forward so that she could strangle him with her bare hands. When that didn't work, she settled for spitting on his face.
He took out a handkerchief and wiped the spit from his face. "You have lost. I've broken your armies and slain your men. And taken the castle. Tell me where the treasury is, and I'll be on my way."
Because truly, even after he had put all his skinchangers to work, they had still not succeeded in finding the location of the treasury, and no one else from the Lannister household knew about it either.
The reason for this was that as the miners dug deeper and deeper into the mountain, the Lannisters turned those mines into hallways and rooms.
So really, the Castle that sat on top of the mountain was not even the tip of the iceberg. Casterly Rock was far, far larger than anyone could imagine.
The castle was a labyrinth of hallways and dark corridors, and the further below they went, the darker and larger it became.
When Domeric began scanning these hallways and corridors with his magic, he couldn't help but wonder if he was still beneath Casterly Rock or deep within Khazad-dum.
He hoped the Lannisters hadn't awakened anything they shouldn't have in the depths of these tunnels.
Long story short, even with his magical methods, finding the way to the treasure chamber would take time, and he didn't want to waste any time.
That's why he was here. To get the answer he sought from Genna.
Still, just in case, he had sent his Skinchangers to scan and map these tunnels. It's possible that Genna also didn't know the location of the treasure after all.
Some houses had secrets passed down from lord to lord, known only to the next heir. It was a possibility that the Lannisters kept the location of their treasure a secret as well.
The woman scoffed, glaring hatefully at him all the time, "If you think this is over, then you're delusional, boy. This is far from over. You've given my brother a huge insult. And it won't be long before the rains will weep over your halls either." She said, "No one insults Tywin Lannister and gets away with it."
He gave the woman an unimpressed look.
"If you think your brother is going to come and save you, woman, then I don't think you've paid attention." He said, "I don't fear your brother. And even without your help, my skinchangers will eventually find the treasury. So, you might as well tell me and earn some good points. Right?"
"Never!!!" the woman snarled and fought against her restraints once again.
When Bronn had first suggested tying up the woman, he had given the man a strange look. But now he could understand.
He sighed. Either he was shit at this diplomacy thing, or these people were unnaturally stubborn.
"Very well." He nodded, "You leave me no choice, Lady Genna." He took out his wand and pointed it at her.
She looked at the piece of wood in his hand in confusion, and he said, "Imperio."
After obtaining all the information he needed from Genna and obliviating her memory, Domeric left the room. While heading towards the treasury whose location he now knew, he called Lyra with his magical mirror.
"My lord," Lyra replied.
"Everything is complete on my side. Begin printing the news in the newspaper tomorrow. And reduce the newspaper distribution from three days to two days."
"As you wish, my lord. How many of your achievements do you want me to mention?" Lyra asked.
"I want all my achievements, from the bridge I built to cross the Twins, to the Battle of Riverrun, healing Lord Hoster Tully, the capture of the Golden Tooth, and the fall of Casterly Rock, to be on the lips of all of Westeros. But do not mention Ser Barristan's name. I'm saving that for later."
"Consider it done, my lord. Is there anything else you would like?" Lyra asked.
"Not now," he said, and ended their conversation.
Now he had a treasury to visit.
