Chapter 320 - Domeric's Ambition

WILOW-Ch.320: Domeric's Ambition

The Wall

POV of Lyra the Spymistress

Domeric shook his head instantly and said. "I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I have no intention of sitting on the Iron Throne. The customs and religion of the South are completely different from those of the North. And the Order of Maesters hates everything magical. If I were to sit on the Iron Throne, I'm sure I would soon be embroiled in a war with the Faith of Seven and the Order of Maesters."

"What a pity. You would have made a truly excellent King. So, who do you have in mind, my lord?" she asked in a disappointed tone.

He just grinned at her mischievously and said. "I was thinking more along the lines of using Lyanna and Rhaegar's child for this one."

"Jon Snow." She said.

"Aegon Targaryen." He corrected.

"You think Lord Stark will agree to this?" she asked.

"Perhaps. Perhaps not. But we don't really have any other choice." He said, "It's either him, one of the Baratheon brothers, or me."

"I still think you're a better candidate." She said.

"I have no intention of sitting on the Iron Throne and drowning myself in the troubles of the South, especially with Winter coming and the Long Night approaching. But do you really think I would put someone younger than myself on the Iron Throne and then be bound not only to the King but to one of his Wardens again? That would be completely ridiculous," he said in a mischievous tone.

"Does that mean you have another plan, my lord?" she asked in a hopeful voice.

"I plan to change the ruling system of the Seven Kingdoms completely. By the end of this war, the North will be completely separated from the Seven Kingdoms and will have become a separate kingdom." He said.

"So, you're planning to declare the North a separate kingdom and become its King?" she asked, in a slightly surprised tone.

"No. I intend to place Lord Stark on the throne of the North as King. Anyone else taking the throne would cause many of those who support the Starks to revolt. Furthermore, I intend to make not only the North, but also the Iron Islands and Dorne, separate kingdoms. The North, Dorne, and the Iron Islands. These lands either worship different gods or have very different customs. And frankly, the Iron Throne has little power in these lands." He said.

These words only made Lyra more bewildered, and she asked. "My lord, I find it difficult to understand. Where then do you intend to rule?"

"Me? I intend to rule all of Westeros. Not just the Seven Kingdoms, but the lands beyond the Wall too, I will declare those lands and other kingdoms my own, establish an Empire, and I will be an Emperor." He said.

"Empire? Emperor?" she asked, faced with words whose meanings she didn't know.

"To put it briefly, an Empire is a form of ruling that possesses vast lands and rules over other kingdoms and lordships within those lands. And the Emperor... well... in short, we can call him the King of Kings." He said.

"Like the King and his Wardens and Lord Paramounts?" she asked, wanting to understand better.

"Similar, but Wardens and Lord Paramounts don't have the authority to make their own laws. I intend to place a King at the head of each region and entrust them with all the affairs of the Kingdom. Then I will declare Bolton Lands the Imperial Capital and only intervene in the decisions of these Kingdoms when I deem it necessary." He said.

"So, you want to rule everyone but not deal with their problems, my lord. You truly have great ambition," she said mischievously.

"One could say that. I will share the details of the Empire matter and what needs to be done with you at a more opportune time. But for now, this much is enough for you to know." He said.

"I see. Will you be returning soon?" she asked.

He thought about it for a moment, but then shook his head, "Capturing a White Walker is more important to me right now. Plus, large armies tend to move really slowly. We'll return before the real battles start." He said, "But I do have a task for you."

She waited patiently, and he spoke, "Send an anonymous letter to Lord Stark telling him about the King's death. The Queen's part in his death. And the status of his men and his family. Also, tell the illegitimacy of Prince Joffrey, Prince Tommen, and Princess Myrcella. It is time for the North to go to War."

"Wouldn't it be better to let the Baratheons and Lannisters kill each other?" she asked.

"No." He replied, "For my plans, I need to demonstrate my military strength and gain some fame. I don't want their armies to end up destroyed either. And the longer this war takes, the worse the general situation of Westeros will become. So, I would rather end this war quickly than drag it out. Do you have anything else to report?"

"Yes. It appears that Lady Catelyn Stark did indeed have an affair with Lord Baelish, and that Lord Baelish gave Lady Stark Fake Moon Tea. Lady Stark may be pregnant with his bastard child." She said.

"I truly hate cheaters. Add to the end of the letter information about how Lady Stark spent a night in Lord Balesih's brothel room." He ordered.

"Would Lord Stark believe that?" she asked.

"At first, he certainly won't believe it. But when the other information in the letter turns out to be true, he'll definitely have doubts. Then I can use that to my advantage." He said.

"Then I will do as you say, my lord."

"Is there anything else you'd like to report?"

"Yes. Brandon Stark and Meera Reed are here. When should we send them up North?"

"Have them wait in Dreadfort for now." He said, "When the time is right, I'll have Varamyr use his wyvern to carry Bran and Meera to us."

"You want to tell the world about the wyverns?" she asked.

He shrugged, "The war is about to start. And I plan to use them to end this war quickly. It is time to show the world our might. Otherwise, how could I possibly convince them to accept me as Emperor?"

She nodded.

"Oh, and did Sansa also watch the last memories of the imposter mannequin?" He asked.

"Considering her daily schedule, she must have watched it." She said it, and she understood what her lord meant. After today's memories, Sansa couldn't be doing very well.

"Please check on her. And also keep my aunt informed about her condition and other information." He said.

"I will, my lord."

"I need to go now. Keep me updated on the situation." She nodded, and he cut the connection.

She shivered in the cold once again before she took out another steel ball with the word 'Dreadfort' on it and said, "Take me to Dreadfort."

The Portkey activated, and a moment later, she was back in her room in Dreadfort once again.

She was thrilled that her lord wanted to rule not just the Seven Kingdoms, but all of Westeros.

An Empire and an Emperor. The King of Kings. She was sure that with her lord at the head of Westeros, the realm would prosper.

And with her lord becoming Emperor, and these lands becoming the Imperial Capital, she too would become an Imperial Spymistress.

And if she played her cards right, she could stand by her beloved's side and sit on the throne beside him.

Hmmm... What was the title given to an Emperor's wife? She should ask her lord that next time.

She took out the magical mirror and started calling her spies. She needed to send an anonymous letter to Lord Stark after all.

She also needed to check on Sansa and keep Lady Barbrey informed of developments.
