Chapter 571 - Chapter 571: A Name

Hannah Abbott had given Strange and his group a great deal of help.

Strictly speaking, it wasn't much.

But in practice, it saved Strange a lot of trouble.

For example, she directly helped him exchange Galleons.

She hadn't intended to charge him at all.

Strange refused.

He insisted on using the exchange rate he already knew.

Hannah had nothing to say about that.

As for materials, there wasn't much she could do.

The Leaky Cauldron simply didn't sell those things.

Still, she provided something important.

Through her connections, she arranged an exorcist certificate for both of them.

And a map.

A clear route to a high-quality materials shop.

"This thing..." Everett looked at the parchment in his hand as they passed through the courtyard toward Diagon Alley. "This is an exorcist ID?"

"Yes." Strange nodded. "Every exorcist has one."

"Same as when you worked for the CIA. Nothing strange."

"Then why didn't you have one before?" Everett asked.

"Damn it." Strange's tone darkened. "My mentor threw me there to work as an exorcist."

"I didn't even have time to get this thing."

"And there's a mountain of work every day."

"Do you think I had time to deal with paperwork?"

Strange was genuinely depressed about it.

His mentor had been completely irresponsible.

Dropped him into the role.

Then disappeared.

Leaving him working without a license.

Because of that, Strange constantly worried about being investigated by the Ministry of Magic.

So far, though?

No one cared.

The most crucial detail was something Strange vaguely remembered.

Wasn't the Minister of Magic his mentor's girlfriend?

"Oh my god, Sherlock." Everett stared at the crowded street, at people wearing bizarre clothes. "This is Diagon Alley?"

"Of course." Strange nodded. "Change your accent."

"Otherwise, the Ministry will interrogate you."

"And if you don't understand something, play dumb."

"I don't want to be caught bringing a Muggle in."

"Got it." Everett nodded, subtly adjusting his accent.

Then he hesitated.

"By the way... who exactly is your mentor?"

"The people in that bar earlier were intimidating."

"As the owner, she must be incredibly powerful."

"But the way she treated your mentor..."

Everett was genuinely confused.

Strange had warned him that the people in that bar were complicated.

After observing them carefully, Everett realized that "complicated" probably needed another word.

Dangerous.

The people drinking there were dangerous.

That aura stuck with him.

And yet, they were well-behaved.

No matter how noisy they got, they never crossed the line.

Some of them were filthy.

Some still had blood on them.

But none of them dared dirty the bar.

They followed the rules strictly.

That alone proved the owner wasn't simple.

"My mentor?" Strange tilted his head.

"Didn't I say their relationship is good?"

He thought for a moment.

"She's very famous in the wizarding world."

"Very famous?" Everett paused. "A magician who fought in the Battle of New York..."

"Your background's huge, Sherlock."

"So what?" Strange rolled his eyes.

"The reputation belongs to my mentor."

"Not me."

"And I'm still an unqualified apprentice."

"Alright." Everett resisted the urge to roll his eyes.

Unqualified?

This guy could easily handle ordinary people.

Still, when Everett thought carefully, Strange really was far behind the magicians from New York.

Compared to real magic, Strange was closer to a trickster.

They chatted quietly as they walked.

Following Hannah's directions, they soon arrived at their first stop.

A herb shop.

Strange's shopping list was long.

They'd have to take it step by step.

Recent Developments

"There hasn't been anything major recently."

Constantine spoke hesitantly after thinking for a long time.

He was sitting in his newly opened Ark Exorcist Office in Westminster.

Plenty of things happened in the mundane world.

Most weren't worth his attention.

If the compensation didn't match the trouble, he wouldn't bother.

Of course, he still helped for free sometimes.

That depended on the situation.

If someone was truly pitiful after being attacked by a magical creature, he would consider it.

Noah supported that.

"Pay closer attention," Noah said, nodding as he sat down. "Things have been a bit troublesome lately."

"Troublesome?" Constantine raised an eyebrow. "So nothing serious?"

"Just minor annoyances?"

"Yes." Noah nodded. "A bunch of annoying fleas."

"From Kamar-Taj."

"Skilled in spatial magic."

"If I really wanted to, I could find them."

"But I don't want to make a scene."

"I don't believe that," Constantine said with a lazy smile.

"Your girlfriend knows, right?"

"The Ministry's been moving lately."

"Discreet, but obvious."

"Potions and materials are under control now."

Of course Constantine noticed.

He was an exorcist.

Even though his strength had grown and Noah had trained him almost like a magician, he was still an exorcist at heart.

And his subordinates were all exorcists.

They relied on materials.

On potions.

On prices.

So changes like this were impossible to miss.

Noah didn't deny it.

"Letting the Ministry know is also cooperation."

"Only a few high-level people are aware."

"In a country, the Ministry of Magic is the strongest force."

"Isn't it?"

"Of course." Constantine nodded.

"And the Minister's your girlfriend."

"The rest are your friends."

"Easy to operate."

"Mmm." Noah shrugged. "Basically my backyard."

That wasn't an exaggeration.

The groundwork Noah had laid before even going to Kamar-Taj still mattered.

Power aside, having a backyard made things simpler.

"Enough." Noah waved it off. "Focus."

"Watch the flow of these potions and materials."

"And ask your contacts to watch for high-purity diamonds."

"Any quantity."

"No problem." Constantine nodded.

"Potions take time."

"Diamonds won't."

He picked up his phone immediately.

Who he called was unclear.

A client.

An exorcist.

Either way, a few instructions later, he hung up.

The smug look on his face said enough.

"How long?" Noah asked.

"A few hours." Constantine shrugged.

"Maybe a few minutes."

"The merchant's big."

"Powerful."

"In the mundane world, anyway."

"He nearly got killed by a succubus."

"Came to me."

"And then-"

"Old story," Noah interrupted. "Rich people attract succubi."

"By the way," Noah added, "how's Erik's family?"

"The kids?"

"They're fine." Constantine thought briefly.

"Still tense."

"But better than before."

"They nearly tore this place apart."

"Good thing they were sent away for a while."

"Otherwise, who knows."

Noah smiled faintly.

He knew exactly how troublesome that girl could be.

She behaved around him.

That didn't mean Constantine got the same treatment.

He was curious how she was doing as an exorcist now.

But he didn't ask.

For now, it sounded acceptable.

The phone rang.

Constantine proudly waved it before answering.

A moment later, he hung up.

"There is a batch of high-purity diamonds being purchased."

"So fast?" Noah's eyes lit up.

He smiled.

"What's the name?"

"And the address?"

"Just outside Westminster."

"The name is Mia Lestrange."
