Chapter 461 - Chapter 461: The Magician

Noah adjusted Atlantis's coordinates several times before finally locking onto a suitable landing point.

To be honest, he wasn't afraid of water. As a wizard who could survive comfortably in outer space, seawater meant nothing. He just didn't want to come out looking like a soaked chicken. More importantly, Desmond was with him, along with the "Controller," who still hadn't woken up.

He needed a stable landing spot.

Based on the fragmented memories from the last time he transformed into a dragon, Noah kept pushing the coordinates downward. He had no idea how deep Atlantis had sunk over the years, so he could only probe layer by layer.

Eventually, he found it.

"This place really isn't simple," Noah muttered, locking onto the final position.

"To be honest," Wong said flatly, clearly uninterested in indulging him, "if you weren't looking for the owner of this place, we wouldn't need to come at all."

"Aren't you interested in a previous civilization?"

"Generally interested," Wong replied. "Let bygones be bygones. I study magic, not archaeology."

"Damn it," Noah snapped. "If you know you're studying magic, why do you have zero curiosity?"

"I'll leave curiosity to others," Wong said calmly. "I'll just enjoy the results."

Noah stared at him.

He genuinely hadn't expected something that shameless.

Thinking about it more carefully, though, it seemed Wong had always been like this. He never cared much for research. He preferred mature, established knowledge.

Noah rubbed his chin.

Different personalities made different kinds of magicians. It wasn't a problem. Noah himself wasn't particularly fond of research either. His thirst for knowledge simply pushed him forward without him noticing.

Shaking his head, Noah looked at Desmond, who was carrying the "Controller" on his back.

"Let's go," Noah said. "It's your ancestor anyway. Bloodline-wise, at least."

"You want me... to go first?" Desmond swallowed.

No matter how he thought about it, it sounded like being sent to die.

"Exactly," Noah waved impatiently. "You go first. Relax. Normally speaking, there's no danger."

"You said 'normally speaking.'"

"Are you going or not?"

Desmond sighed.

Then he stepped through the portal with the Controller on his back.

Wong glanced at them but said nothing. He could tell Noah had already placed high-level defensive magic on everyone. That alone made Wong uneasy.

Was the opponent really that dangerous?

Still, he didn't speak up. With Noah around, there weren't many things in this world they couldn't handle.

"Looks fine," Noah nodded when Desmond passed through safely.

That made Wong frown.

"Is the opponent that troublesome?"

"Not bad," Noah replied. "Probably Ninth Order."

"What the f*ck?" Wong's expression changed instantly. "Ninth Order? Noah, let's get out of here. We can't fight something like that."

"Relax," Noah said. "I've already contacted the Master. She's watching us."

"And don't forget," he added, "I'm Ninth Order too."

"You're... going to reveal your other body?"

Other body?

Noah rolled his eyes. That phrasing sounded ridiculous. He shot Wong a glare, double-checked the surroundings, then stepped through the passage himself.

The moment he did-

A terrifying aura locked onto him.

Instantly.

The next second, cracks spread across Noah's body like shattered glass.

His magic shield had been destroyed.

"What the hell?"

Noah hadn't expected the hidden figure in Atlantis to attack him outright-and this viciously.

Fortunately, he was cautious by habit. He'd prepared shields not just for Desmond and the others, but for himself as well. That single precaution saved his life.

Still, it left him shaken.

This wasn't just hostile. This was insane.

No warning. No words. Straight to lethal force.

Noah reacted immediately.

His shield reformed in a breath. At the same time, terrifying magic erupted from his body. He knew he wasn't a match in direct combat, but with the Ancient One watching, he wasn't afraid.

More importantly, he knew this person's weakness.

Golden light wrapped around him. Black runes spun along his body. A roaring fire dragon burst out at his side, flooding the Atlantis observation deck with scorching heat.

It didn't even reach the enemy.

The dragon was cut cleanly in half.

Still, that moment bought Noah time.

Enough time to see who was attacking him.

The result wasn't entirely surprising.

It was a woman.

She had wheat-colored skin, perfectly balanced proportions, and the unmistakable build of a seasoned warrior. She wasn't stunning in the conventional sense, but she was striking.

What truly stood out were her eyes.

They carried a deep exhaustion-one that didn't match her appearance. The kind of weariness only time could carve into someone.

Noah recognized her almost immediately.

Kassandra.

The Malaka sister.

What he didn't understand was why she was attacking him.

Entering without notice? That didn't make sense. Desmond had done the same. And in his memory, Layla had slept here for who knew how long without being touched.

"I say," Noah frowned, gripping the Time Stone as it shimmered faintly, "are you sick?"

"I'll admit my visit wasn't polite," he continued, "but attacking me on sight seems a bit much, don't you think?"

"Hmph." Kassandra snorted. "You coerced my descendants. Do you think I'm wrong to act?"

"Coerced?" Noah frowned. "I didn't coerce him. If I wanted to, I wouldn't have shielded him."

"I did that because I was worried some lunatic would attack him."

"And the other one?" Kassandra asked coldly, coiled like a predator.

The other one?

Noah glanced at Desmond and the Controller.

He went quiet for a moment.

...Were both of them her descendants?

Her bloodline was absurd.

Noah felt a headache coming on. Memories of Odyssey surfaced. Ubisoft's forced "potato farming." Being forced to marry Kassandra off. Switching to Alexios out of spite.

Unfortunately, official canon didn't care about his preferences.

So seeing Kassandra here wasn't actually surprising.

Noah sighed and pointed at the person on Desmond's back.

"This guy?" Noah sneered. "If he dies, he dies."

"Do you even know what the Assassin Brotherhood looks like now?"

"I do," Kassandra replied calmly. "It spans the world, but one branch dominates-"

"But he doesn't represent freedom anymore," Noah interrupted with a shake of his head. "Under the High Table, everyone's a servant."

"That's order," Noah said. "Not freedom."

"You know what I did back then?" Kassandra frowned. She hadn't expected anyone to see through her actions so clearly.

Her grip tightened on her staff.

This young man was dangerous.

"Order and chaos," Noah said lightly. "Maintaining balance."

"But your method is crude. Superficial."

"Let me ask you. How many people in chaos betrayed it and joined order?"

"And how many in order actually uphold order, instead of serving themselves?"

"The world needs balance," Kassandra said, unmoved.

"Yes," Noah nodded. "But not the kind you dictate."

"Ordinary people have their own wills."

"Do you know how much damage your choices caused?"

"I will clean it up," Kassandra replied. "Take my descendants and leave."

"You're not welcome here."

Noah frowned.

She was immovable.

Then again, she'd lived over two thousand years. A will like that didn't bend easily. Otherwise, she wouldn't have endured that kind of solitude, waiting for a legend.

Noah smiled faintly.

"Fine. We'll leave."

"But before we do, let me tell you something."

"This world isn't as simple as you think."

"We know your past. We know the Isu."

"I even know that if you ever put that staff down, you'll die."

"Shut up!"

The aura around Kassandra exploded.

"Who are you?" she demanded. "How do you know this?"

Noah remained calm. The Time Stone flared brighter in his hand.

"Allow me to introduce myself."

"My name is Noah Feniel."

"Noah Feniel?"

"Yes."

"And I am a magician."

"A magician?"
