Piers stood on a roof, his red eyes shining in the darkness. Astarte came up beside him. "Everything is secure. The only thing we need to do is wait for him to transform."
Piers just stood there. "Good. Everything is going according to plan," he said. After a pause, he added, "Until now, at least."
Below, the boy they were watching began huffing and puffing, clutching his chest with an angry expression. His skin turned black, his eyes turned red, and his muscles swelled until he exploded. The resulting flesh swirled in the air, expanding before merging into a single, massive form: a muscular devil twice the size of the boy, a Demon Captain.
Piers used his Mephisto's power and flashed off the roof, slicing the devil's head before reappearing in front of him. He slashed the devil's body into pieces, but the flesh instantly swirled around Piers.
"Do you think that was enough to kill me? A demon like me? I am a Demon Captain, you fool!" a voice boomed from the swirling flesh, threatening to consume Piers.
Piers jumped into the sky to avoid the engulfing attack. The flesh merged to form the devil once more. "You have Mephisto's powers, but that is not going to save you from my onslaught." The devil formed two bat-like wings on his back and flew upwards.
Piers immediately countered. "Umbrae Vocare!" Black spirits swirled around him, which he used with his Mephisto power as footholds to jump from one place to another in the air. The devil charged.
Piers threw out his next attack. "Umbrae Vorax!" Black spirits flew towards the devil.
"Trying to consume me with those weak spirits? I don't think so!" The devil breathed black fumes that destroyed the spirits.
Piers closed the distance. "Fine, try my new technique! Infernal Umbrae Vorax!" He sent black spirits again, but this time, they were burning with Hellsfire. The devil tried to destroy them with black fumes again, but it failed.
"Don't think you have caught me!" the devil shouted. He cut his own hand, which immediately regenerated. The severed hand also began to regenerate into a clone. The clone flew toward the black infernal spirits, burning to a crisp while destroying them.
Suddenly, Piers flashed in front of the devil and sent Hellsfire all over his body, but the devil vanished and reappeared behind Piers, punching his back and sending him plummeting to the ground. As Piers crashed, the devil charged with his claw. Suddenly, chains shot from the ground—Piers had used his Mephisto's power on the ground to bind the devil. The devil noticed the blood badger's disciple using their rituals to bind the devil
"I am not alone here," Piers said. He channeled Hellsfire through the chain, covering it in fire and burning the screaming devil. The devil was too powerful, though, and broke free, still burning. The devil dug his nails into his chest and started tearing it open, shedding his skin and emerging from his own chest.
"Phantom Insignia, if you have some power to give, give it to me now! The opponent is too dangerous!" Piers pleaded.
"My powers too are limited, however, I can give you a little of my power," the Phantom Insignia replied. A black tornado covered Piers's body. When it subsided, Piers emerged with a black tattoo on his hands and a dark sign on his forehead.
Piers jumped into the sky. The devil attacked with his claw, but Piers used his black spirits for a mid-jump, took another jump sideways, and the devil missed. As Piers continued to jump, keeping his distance, the devil breathed a black wind to attack from afar, but Piers used Hellsfire to stop it.
Piers, you quickly have to make your move. You can only use your Mephisto's power for an hour, the Phantom Insignia urged.
"I too know that," Piers said. He jumped toward the devil.
"Finally attacking! Get ready because I am going to kill you!" the devil roared.
As Piers attacked, the devil's claw struck Piers first, but Piers faded away. "Wait, what?" the devil stammered.
One of Mephisto's powers is illusion and... Piers thought, appearing behind the devil. He grabbed the devil's head and said, "Mind control!"
Meanwhile, the other disciples—Astarte, Garth, and Silas—watched the fight with bated breath.
"I thought he was like us, but he clearly is more than us," Astarte said.
"Blood Badgers go after the very best, Astarte," Garth replied proudly.
"Even us partial devils can't fight with a devil like that. He is something else," Silas murmured.
At the same time, Zen walked through a building. When he reached the door, he took out a sword and sliced the door, which cut like paper—in reality, the space between the door and the area inside was severed. Zen stepped in and took off his robe, revealing he was a member of the Heaven Will Branch, a white arts branch. He looked at the giant corpse within. "So this is the Space Devil's Corpse that I have to deal with. Good."
Zen used his devil powers; black tattoos, yellow pupils, and black cornea appeared on his body. With one swift motion, Zen went in a circular path, cut all the chains holding the corpse, and landed directly on top of it.
A voice echoed, "Don't even think about this, Zen." Suddenly, four figures appeared—one woman and three men—the Heads of the Devil Hell Branch.
The woman said, "We caught you red-handed. There is nowhere to run."
"Caught red-handed? Like hell I care," Zen scoffed. He took out a white-and-gold sword.
"Wait, it can't be! Don't—" the woman started.
"Too bad. It is what you think it is: the Holy Sword," Zen said. He thrust the sword into the corpse's head. The corpse immediately began to crack from head to toe. from the cracks white lights came and the space demon's corpse was destroyed. With the Space Demon Corpse destroyed, the space around them began to fluctuate violently, pushing Zen far away from the four Heads. However, one of the Heads managed to throw a sword, hitting Zen directly in his vital organs before he was fully pushed away by the spatial distortion.
Piers who was holding the devil's head was suddenly pushed away from the devil, reeling from the sudden, violent space fluctuations. "Just what is this?" The devil said "it's your end"
