Chapter 146 - Rei's fall

Rei's eyes widened. "Martial King?" he exclaimed. A Martial King is a title for those who possess a Sword of Martials and have reached at least the Elite Martial stage. Each of the nine swords has a different symbol—eagle, snake eating its own tail (ouroboros), dragon, wheel, weighing scale, hammer, star, sun, and moon—and each sword possesses a unique power. Sigil's sword had an eagle symbol and was long and thin, indicating he specialized in speed.

Fearing what Sigil might do, Rei took out his Chaos Scepter. "Would a Martial King dare to lower himself to attack a martial learner like me?" Rei asked.

"If it's for the best of others, I would dare," Sigil smirked. He vanished and reappeared in front of Rei. Rei quickly pointed his scepter at him and used a wind blast. Sigil disappeared again, dodging the blast, and reappeared at a distance. "Using spirit arts to mimick magic? Who are you?" he asked.

"I am Rei Alenshade," Rei replied. He then used his Chaos Scepter, and Tenko, realizing his plan, took Ava and moved away from him. Rei used his wind magic to create a dust cloud over the field.

"It's of no use," Sigil said. He vanished and reappeared in front of an earth dome, from which Rei's Chaos Scepter was poking out. "Do you think a measly earth dome would stop me?" Sigil's sword was already in motion. Rei's scepter ignited an Ember, and a dust explosion occurred, slightly disorienting Sigil but not causing any injury.

Suddenly, Ava felt a wind bomb below her, created by Rei. Tenko, holding her collar, was blasted upward and Rei also used a wind bomb to get away from the dust screen. Rei nodded to Tenko, who nodded back. Tenko then grabbed Ava's collar again, and Rei used another wind bomb, sending them to safety. Rei had used his powers to create the wind bomb so that Sigil wouldn't suspect Tenko also knew about sorcery. He also needed Ava to leave so he could fight at full strength.

Sigil laughed at Rei's attempt to escape and jumped so high that he was directly behind Rei. Rei turned back. "Don't get cocky," he said, using his Apprentice Tier Spell: Wind Current to push Sigil back.

"You should be proud," Sigil said. "You're a martial learner, and you're making me use my sixth sense." Rei shivered. Sigil disappeared into the sky and reappeared, descending with his sword raised to slash Rei. Rei used a wind bomb to propel himself sideways, but still sustained a cut on his shoulder. He used his wind bomb to travel faster, making random movements, but the increased power of the bomb caused his leg to bruise. Sigil followed him, no matter how randomly he flew. Rei noticed that Sigil's sixth sense might be something like a precise control of air, allowing him to fly. Rei knew he had to do something, so he started flying straight up, with Sigil following. He knew that at higher altitudes, icing and air pressure problems would make it harder for Sigil.

"Young man, I wanted to kill you with a single sword strike so it wouldn't be painful," Sigil said. "However, since you are so stubborn, don't hate me for killing you in a brutal way." Rei's eyes widened as he realized what Sigil was about to do. He quickly started jumping with his wind bomb in a random manner.

"It's of no use. Get ready to die," Sigil said, slashing the air and creating a strong wind cutter. Rei, with no way to dodge, turned to face it and used his Wind Whirl to stop it. He didn't notice Sigil behind him until it was too late. The only thing he could do was twist his body so Sigil wouldn't cut off his head or vital organs. The situation was so dangerous that he didn't even notice his Revolutionary's token fall from his waist. Sigil's sword made a deep cut in his chest. "I already survived a slash like this before. It's nothing," Rei thought before he fell unconscious and plummeted from the sky.

Sigil looked down at him. "You certainly were strong. If I were a Martial Master, you might have been able to defeat me. But you are nothing compared to those demons, so you can rest now. Even if my cut wasn't enough, you would die from falling," he said, jumping away, unaware of the depth of Rei's intelligence. Even as he fell unconscious, Rei had a plan. He had wanted Tenko to sneak attack Sigil to save him, but Sigil was too strong. So he had created a situation where it would look like he would die, but Tenko would have a chance to save him.

As Rei fell, Tenko jumped and caught him before he hit the ground, then headed toward the Midgard. But something hit them, sending Tenko flying. Rei and Tenko fell onto the top of the Waterfall of Two Paths. Tenko fell on top of the waterfall of rwo paths but Rei, still unconscious, fell from the top of the waterfall to the bottom, from the good side of the statue to the evil side. As he splashed into the water, the flow of the waterfall and Tenko's water manipulation sorcery sent him to the edge of the waterfall, onto the ground. Tenko was relieved, but his relief was short-lived. He smelled something unusual and suddenly felt his qi going out of control.

A voice said, "It's no use, Tenko. You are smelling the qi destabilizing powder. After smelling it, no one who possesses qi can move and use their qi." Tenko recognized the voice. It was the same cloaked man who had told them about the red mountain. The man looked at Tenko. "Tenko, Tenko, Tenko. I wanted to make you two come here so much," he said sarcastically. He went to Rei, knelt, and adjusted Rei's hair to uncover his face. Tenko growled, but he couldn't move. The cloaked man smirked. "I was the one who manipulated you two to come here. I knew I couldn't defeat Rei and make him come with me by force. He was too sly and cunning, not to mention he had a protector like you. But creating a story to help him for my own benefit was the perfect excuse."

Tenko growled as if telling him to let go of Rei. The cloaked man smirked and took out another powder. Tenko desperately pleaded with his barks, but the man blew the powder at Rei. Rei's eyes slightly opened, his blue eyes turning red. Tenko's eyes widened in despair. He knew that if the vermillion herb powder caused one's eyes to turn red, it meant the person's mind had become unstable.

The cloaked man said sarcastically, "Don't worry, Tenko. I have just erased all of Rei's memories. Now he doesn't remember you or anyone else. The vermillion powder herb turns one's hair black, but it also weakens the brain's barrier, making it vulnerable to powders that erase memories. And once any memory-erasing powder is used, the person's eyes turn red. Isn't it amazing that a boy with blue eyes and blonde hair can turn to black hair and red eyes so easily?"

Tenko started growling at the cloaked man, cursing him. The man picked up Rei and walked away, with Tenko trying to bark and move to reach him.

Meanwhile, where Daina was standing, she saw something falling from the sky and went to pick it up. It was the Revolutionaries' token that Rei had. As Sigil came, she put it in her pocket. "The brat has been dealt with," Sigil said. "Let's go."

"Yes," Daina replied.
