Peering through a hole in the earth dome, Rei noticed something strange. The monsters were fighting anyone they saw, not even caring about the surroundings some were even fighting monsters that looked like they were of the same species. "Tenko, it looks like these monsters aren't in their right minds. Someone seems to have drugged them. Go and confirm it."
Tenko nodded and slipped out of the dome, scouting the area. "What do you mean, 'drugged'?" Ava asked.
"Something bad," Rei said simply.
Tenko walked silently, careful not to alert the mindlessly attacking monsters. He knew he needed more than just a visual observation, so he went to a nearby river, smelled the water, and confirmed that it was drugged. Suddenly, he sensed an attack and jumped to the side as the ground where he was standing shattered. A huge palm had struck the spot. Tenko landed, turned, and growled. It was a magical beast known as the Black Flame Wolf. The wolf's fur was black with red stripes, its teeth were yellow, and its eyes had black corneas with yellow pupils.
The wolf breathed fire, but Tenko, using his Nyx Scepter, made a ball of fire appear in front of his mouth. He then used wind to make it look like he was breathing fire as well. The two fires collided, spreading flames that covered the surroundings. Tenko glanced back at the river of drugged water, knowing that falling in would turn him into a mindless monster like the others. He then looked at the Black Flame Wolf, whose body was covered in fire, making it even more powerful. Tenko knew his Wizard Beast Change technique might be dangerous, but he had no choice.
He grew bigger and used his Nyx Scepter to create wind wings, threads of flame breath, and earth claws. He could only sustain this technique for three minutes, but it made him strong enough to kill any magical beast. The Black Flame Wolf created a fire tornado that headed toward Tenko, but Tenko used his wind wings to fly at incredible speed, so fast that the wolf couldn't see him. In the blink of an eye, the Black Flame Wolf felt like the scenery had shifted. In reality, Tenko had used his claws to slice the wolf's head clean off.
Tenko quickly flew back toward Rei's earth dome, but many mindless monsters saw him and headed his way. Tenko growled and used his fire breath, burning some of the beasts. Others were fire-resistant, so Tenko used his speed to zigzag and cut off their heads. He was worried about bringing them back to Rei, who might not be able to face them. Suddenly, he felt exhausted. His Wizard Beast Change technique had reached its limit, and he fell to the ground.
Meanwhile, Rei, watching from the earth dome, saw flames and heard the monsters' screams. "Tenko might be in trouble," he said. Rei dispelled the earth dome, grabbed Ava, and headed toward the commotion. Tenko, though tired, was pushing himself to get to Rei when spikes of earth, as big as trees, pierced the monsters. Tenko looked back and saw Rei standing there, holding his Chaos Scepter. The commotion had attracted the attention of not only the white-cloaked figures but also the other mindless monsters.
"Tenko, eat this," Rei said, handing him a pill. Tenko ate it and felt completely recovered. "I created these pills," Rei explained. "They can help someone restore their strength. Now, Tenko, let's show these bastards who the king of the mountain is."
Tenko barked. Ava, whom they had momentarily forgotten, said, "Hey, I'm here too! What should I do?"
"Fight them, of course," Rei replied.
The white-hooded figures stood atop a mountain. "Fools! How dare you come here?" one of them yelled. The monsters started growling and howling. Tenko growled back. Ava held out her hands, creating flames, and Rei's scepter shone. Tenko used Wind Bombs under his feet to jump, then used Flame Slices to cut off the heads of earth and wood attribute beasts, ignoring the metal ones. Rei also jumped using wind bombs, killing the birds and flying monsters with his wind and fire attributes. Ava used her ice to encase the metal monsters and kill other beasts. The combined strength of Rei and Tenko alone was enough to turn the tide of battle.
"If they keep killing the beasts, our plan will fail. What should we do?" one white-hooded man said.
"We kill them," the other replied. The two men came down to join the fray. Rei, now angry, took out a pill, crushed it into smoke, and said, "Apprentice Tier Spell: Poison Serpent!" The poisonous smoke formed into a serpent and went toward the men.
"What is this? Stop!" the men cried, surprised. Rei took out more pills, crushed them, and created more smoke serpents. However, one of the men said, "Don't underestimate us! Everyone, use your tokens!" The white-hooded men took out tokens, and they shone, covering them in a bubble of holy shield. "We will teach you a good lesson, kid," one said.
"Who are you kidding?" Rei scoffed. "Master Tier Spell: Wind Tornado!" Rei created a powerful tornado that uprooted even the trees. The white-hooded men, unable to escape, said, "Everyone, we can't escape the tornado. Use your magic!"
Rei, however, had another plan. "Apprentice Tier Spell: Voice Amplification!" His voice boomed, sounding as if the world itself was speaking. "Mother, Father, or Sister, if anyone is here, use your magic and shoot at the sky to tell me, or even use firewood to send smoke. I will wait for you in this forest for four hours."
As Rei's voice returned to normal, he said to Ava and Tenko, "Let's go before these white-hooded figures recover." Tenko nodded, and Ava said, "Okay." Rei grabbed Ava's hand and flew to a nearby river. As they flew, Rei saw a waterfall. Behind the falling water was a statue that looked like the picture of a king from a deck of cards however the only difference was that the upper half looked like a benevolent god in ancient robes holding a shield, and the lower half a malevolent demon lord in ancient robes holding a sword. Rei shivered and muttered, "Waterfall of Two Paths."
