Chapter 386 - Chapter 23: The Great Battle (15)

Long ago, there was a demon fox causing havoc.

The demon fox had nine tails.

When the fox moved its tails, mountains collapsed and tsunamis arose.

The people suffered greatly from its torment...

This was Naruto's opening—just a few strokes painting a vivid picture of an evil, powerful Nine-Tailed demon fox. What's fascinating is that despite being Kishimoto's creation meant to embody "evil" throughout the entire manga, hardly any Naruto fans genuinely hate this temperamental fox from the bottom of their hearts.

On the contrary, its tsundere and domineering personality has earned it quite a following, with popularity rivaling protagonists like Naruto and Sasuke. Even though it really is a murderous bastard fox that treats human lives like grass.

Ever since crossing into this world, Jinghang had been pondering how to deal with the Nine-Tails.

High attack, high defense, with health and chakra reserves that seemed bottomless—how could anyone defeat this fox? For the longest time, there really wasn't a viable solution.

It wasn't that no methods existed to restrain the Nine-Tails—Jinghang simply lacked access to them.

Currently, eight and a half individuals were known to control the Nine-Tails reliably: the Sage of Six Paths, Ōtsutsuki Hamura, Indra, Asura, Senju Hashirama, Uchiha Madara, Uzumaki Mito, Uzumaki Kushina, and the Gold and Silver Brothers. Since the Gold and Silver Brothers could only frustrate the Nine-Tails without truly subduing it, they counted as half.

Setting aside the alien Ōtsutsuki clan, there were basically three methods to suppress the Nine-Tails.

The first was the physical approach exemplified by Senju Hashirama—using Wood Release techniques to subdue through overwhelming force. Wood Human Technique, Sage Art Wood Release: True Several Thousand Hands—combo after devastating combo, literally beating the Nine-Tails into submission. In his eyes, the Nine-Tails was just a mischievous beast, which is why when Minato mentioned dying at its hands, Hashirama asked that soul-searching question: "That thing can kill people?"

The second was the mental method represented by Uchiha Madara—using the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan's overwhelming ocular power to transform the Nine-Tails into his personal summoning beast, controlling it completely from beginning to end. When he said sit, it didn't dare lie down; when he said extend front paws, it wouldn't dare move its hind legs.

The third was the sealing approach embodied by Uzumaki Mito—natural bloodline suppression. As descendants of the Sage of Six Paths, their raw strength might not be exceptional, but they could always keep the Nine-Tails completely subdued. Adamantine Sealing Chains were the Nine-Tails' absolute nemesis. Misbehaving? Chain you to death. Not listening? Chain you to death. Dare bare your fangs? I'll tighten those chains even more—until you submit!

Unfortunately, Jinghang possessed none of these abilities—no Wood Release, no Mangekyō Sharingan, no Adamantine Sealing Chains.

But that wasn't insurmountable.

If you lack conditions, create them. If you lack methods, develop them.

Jinghang had pioneered a fourth approach.

Attrition warfare.

If Hashirama could beat it into submission, that proved the Nine-Tails' stamina and chakra had limits.

Since limits existed, they could be exploited.

The Two-Tails Matatabi, Sasori's anti-Tailed Beast puppet, Tsukigami Kōichi with his Eight-Tails sealing experience, the Six Paths of Pain, himself with the Gundam Technique, plus Rasa, Kazama Xu, Aotu Tailuo, Takenaka Guren, Konan, and other Kage-level specialists.

Everyone would rotate in wheel combat, backed by massive chakra enhancement drug reserves.

With this lineup and configuration, forget the Nine-Tails—even Shaquille O'Neal would get demolished!

They'd grind it down piece by piece until exhaustion claimed it.

When that moment arrived, they'd combine forces to activate the "Sealing Technique: Phantom Dragons Nine Consuming Seals" and lock the Nine-Tails directly into the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path. If everything proceeded smoothly... Naruto-kun, in this timeline no one should discriminate against you. Hehe, wait—you might not even need to enter this world at all.

The Nine-Tails found itself momentarily disoriented in its new environment.

What the hell? It hadn't even moved yet and suddenly the battlefield had shifted.

Looking up, ten ninja stood before it, eyeing it with predatory intent.

What's this supposed to be? They think they can take me down? With just these ten people? Ridiculous! Had it been absent so long that humans had forgotten its terror?

Namikaze Minato materialized at that moment, Sage Mode already activated. His entire form blazed with golden light, immediately drawing Jinghang's attention.

"Huh? You don't seem to be coughing anymore."

Jinghang's tone carried genuine surprise.

Minato hadn't expected such an odd question. He touched his chest—the lung pain had indeed subsided.

"Ah, I understand. Sage chakra contains life energy—it can temporarily relieve injuries. But..." Jinghang's smile turned wicked. "That lung damage is irreversible. Once your sage chakra depletes, you'll be coughing again."

Minato's expression hardened with resolve.

"I absolutely won't let you harm Kushina."

"You mean it!"

Jinghang pointed at the Nine-Tails while suppressing laughter.

Minato's face darkened as he prepared to charge, but Jinghang had no intention of engaging. He flickered to Tsukigami Kōichi's side instead.

"Kōichi, allow me to introduce someone special—Konoha's new generation leader, the legendary Yellow Flash himself, Golden Kunai Cup winner, proclaimed fastest in the ninja world. How about it? Interested?"

Jinghang gestured toward Minato.

Kōichi's eyebrow arched, battle lust radiating from his form.

"Kazekage-sama, about the Nine-Tails..."

Jinghang waved dismissively with a smile.

"No worries at all. We'll handle the Nine-Tails for now. If he interferes, dealing with it becomes inconvenient, doesn't it?"

Kōichi nodded understanding.

"Kazekage-sama speaks wisdom. Please leave him to me."

The moment those words left his lips, Kōichi activated his Lightning Release Armor and exploded toward Minato.

"Another destined confrontation, though this time without Killer Bee. Wonder how this'll play out."

With that thought, Jinghang stopped monitoring their clash and flickered to Rasa's position.

"Status report?"

Jinghang addressed Rasa while nodding to Pain, Konan, and the others.

Rasa pointed ahead.

"Following your plan—Yugito and Sasori comprise the first wave. Look, they've already engaged."

Oh? Jinghang looked up with keen interest.

A massive cat wreathed in blazing blue flames and a colossal metal hound were already locked in fierce combat with the Nine-Tails.

The earth trembled and mountains shook—the battle raged with spectacular intensity.

Why not deploy all their experts simultaneously to overwhelm the Nine-Tails directly?

Simple reason—insufficient confidence.

This operation aimed to seal the Nine-Tails permanently, leaving it zero opportunities for escape. As the strongest Tailed Beast, any chance for it to reverse the situation or slip away unnoticed would create endless future problems. (Though given the Nine-Tails' tsundere personality, it probably wouldn't flee anyway.)
