Afterward, Haruto asked Nahida to gather the data bundles of the Main World.
This was to create the World Tree of the Main World.
And Nahida readily agreed.
Her figure turned into a stream of glowing green four-leaf clovers and disappeared into the unknown.
Creating the World Tree would take some time. And traveling to Teyvat wasn't something urgent.
Speaking of the World Tree—once one possesses absolute control over it, it makes things much more convenient for the Foundation.
By modifying the World Tree, it's possible to delete or add certain events on a large scale. This kind of alteration is even more effective than simple memory erasure. It's essentially a large-scale, side-effect-free method of memory modification.
And this kind of existence is exactly what the Foundation needs.
—Meanwhile—
Haruto received some information.
Chika Fujiwara had, once again, captured another anomaly. Although Haruto wasn't surprised, he still found it absurd.
What kind of normal person keeps running into anomalies!?
And this time, it wasn't even Fujiwara who reported it.
It was Kaguya.
The reason?
It was because the ever-ditzy secretary Fujiwara didn't realize that what she had picked up was an anomaly.
She had even brought it into the Shuchiin Student Council room.
It wasn't until Kaguya noticed something strange that Haruto was informed. Since he wasn't particularly busy, Haruto headed over to Shuchiin.
When he pushed open the door to the student council room—
He saw Kaguya and Ai Hayasaka standing tensely in the corner, looking like they were about to go to war.
Both of them were holding Foundation-issued stance-defense gear, staring nervously at Chika Fujiwara.
At that moment, Chika Fujiwara was holding a rabbit—mostly white, with symmetrical black spots on its fur.
The rabbit wasn't large; in fact, it looked even smaller than an average one.
It seemed to be a burrowing rabbit.
At the moment, the little creature was quietly nestled in Chika's hands, chomping rapidly on a carrot.
But judging by its speed—yeah, this was clearly an anomaly.
A normal rabbit couldn't possibly eat that fast.
In just two or three seconds, an entire carrot was gone down its throat. And it immediately lunged for the next one.
Haruto stood watching for a moment.
By his estimate, the rabbit had already consumed at least twice its own body weight in carrots.
And he also noticed that a corner of the student council table was missing.
Roughly about a tenth of the whole table.
"Haruto-kun!"
Chika Fujiwara cheerfully waved when she saw him enter.
Haruto's mouth twitched.
This… was chaos.
There's no doubt about it—this Fujiwara really does have some kind of anomaly-attracting constitution!
Haruto walked forward and gently took the rabbit from Chika's hands. Seeing this, both Kaguya and Hayasaka finally let out a sigh of relief.
"By the way, is this really an anomaly? I didn't notice anything unusual," Chika asked curiously.
Before Haruto could reply, Kaguya blurted out,
"How oblivious are you? That rabbit's eating speed is clearly not normal! And the things it eats… just before you came back, it ate part of the student council table!"
As Kaguya recounted the events, Haruto pieced together what had happened earlier.
Chika Fujiwara had found the rabbit on her way to school and casually brought it to Shuchiin. She wanted to discuss with the others whether they could build a rabbit enclosure on school grounds.
After all, leaving such a pitiful and helpless little bunny to wander the streets wasn't very responsible.
On the way, she even bought a whole bunch of things she thought a rabbit might like.
Such as carrots.
(In reality, most rabbits don't eat carrots. That's a common misconception. Also, run if you see rabbits in dungeons.)
Still, this one certainly seemed to enjoy them.
At first, Kaguya and Hayasaka didn't think anything was off either.
They just felt the rabbit ate unusually fast.
Then, when Chika was called out by a classmate—
Kaguya and Hayasaka saw the rabbit finish off the carrots, then start munching on the ceramic teacups nearby.
Yes—actual porcelain.
Crunch—gone. And the bunny looked happy about it.
After it finished the cups, it swallowed the tray as well, then began gnawing on the student council table.
Kaguya and Hayasaka immediately realized something was wrong and hurried to find more food.
Otherwise, the entire student council room might've been eaten clean.
At this moment, Haruto checked the anomaly record in the system.
[Project Name: Omnivorous Rabbit (SCP-524)]
[Threat Level: Level 4 – Destruction]
[Description: This project takes the form of an ordinary burrowing rabbit with identifiable symmetrical black spots. It possesses the ability to consume any material, regardless of edibility. Although its eating behavior resembles that of a typical rabbit, the subject does not discriminate between edible vegetation and dangerous, inedible substances. Be it wood, steel, glass, or even radioactive material, the entity has never shown any negative reactions after consumption.]
[Special Properties: This project exhibits strong immortality traits. Conventional physical or energy-based attacks are ineffective. The subject is capable of consuming virtually any substance.]
[Notes: When deprived of 'tasty' materials for an extended period, the rabbit will begin to eat itself. It starts by chewing off its tail, then progressively devours its hind legs, eating itself from the back forward. When it reaches its forelimbs and neck, the subject astonishingly inverts its mouth and eats its own head—vanishing entirely. After some time, it will reappear intact.]
Reading the information on SCP-524, Haruto's expression twitched.
Good grief!
This thing was basically a living waste-processing unit!
With that in mind, Haruto took out some discarded materials from his Kamui space—these were produced by the Universal Converter (SCP-914).
They had densities and hardness levels far beyond ordinary alloys. Many of them were also corrosive or radioactive.
Which was exactly why they were thrown away.
But the Gluttonous Rabbit didn't hesitate in the slightest when it received these scraps. It just opened its mouth and started chewing.
Materials even hydraulic presses couldn't bend—were crushed easily in this little bunny's mouth, turned into rabbit chow.
The three girls present were left speechless.
Just then, someone knocked on the student council room door.
———
Before anyone could react, the door was pushed open.
Miko Iino walked in and her eyes instantly fell on the Omnivorous Rabbit. After all, fluffy animals like cats, dogs, and rabbits are hard for most girls to resist.
"Haruto-senpai, Kaguya-senpai, Fujiwara-senpai… is this a pet?" she asked.
Haruto quickly, and subtly, snatched the corrosive materials from the rabbit's grasp and tossed them back into Kamui space.
Kaguya swiftly jumped in to cover.
"Yeah, just a little rabbit we found on the street. Thought we'd see if we could raise it."
Upon hearing that, Miko Iino immediately stepped closer to get a better look at the fluffball.
To avoid blowing their cover, Hayasaka picked up some edible plant leaves and handed them to the rabbit.
However, the Omnivorous Rabbit seemed bored with that kind of food. It opened its mouth… and bit into the table.
Miko Iino: "?"
Haruto lunged to stop it.
But he was already too late.
The Omnivorous Rabbit was too fast.
In the blink of an eye, it had chewed a large hole into the tabletop.
Helplessly, Haruto looked up and gave Miko a strained smile.
"This… is a pearwood table, so technically it's still a plant. It makes sense that a rabbit would like eating it, right?"
Miko Iino: "???"
Does that sound reasonable to you?
But whether it made sense or not—
In just a few moments, the already-damaged student council table had completely disappeared into the Rabbit's belly.
After finishing, the rabbit plopped down to the ground and started sniffing around.
Left, right, sniff sniff.
Very cute.
But combined with what just happened—it was kind of terrifying.
