Starz (pronounced "stars") is an American pay television network owned by Starz Entertainment, and is the flagship property of Starz Inc. Launched in 1994 as a multiplex service of what is now Starz Encore, its programming consists of theatrically released motion pictures and first-run original television series. Starz operates six 24-hour, linear multiplex channels; a traditional subscription video on demand service.
Starz made its debut as the first phase of a seven-channel thematic multiplex that was launched by Starz (then Encore Media Group) over the course of the succeeding eight months, with the remaining six channels being launched between July and September 1994.The multiplex was intended to only include six channels, but on May 31, 1993, Encore acquired the pay cable rights to broadcast recent feature films from Universal Pictures released after that year; as a result, TCI/Liberty decided to create an additional premium pay-TV service to serve as a competitor to HBO and Showtime. The network carried the moniker "Encore 8" in its on-air branding as part of a numbering system that was used by Encore's multiplex channels. Early trademark filings indicated that TCI/Liberty's proposed names including "Applause" and "Stars" for the service.
It also held the television rights to releases from Carolco Pictures, New Line Cinema (as well as its sibling labels Fine Line Features and Turner Pictures), and the Disney–owned studios Touchstone Pictures, Hollywood Pictures and Miramax Films. Films from those studios were not carried on Starz until 1997, after Disney's output agreement with Showtime for its non-family-oriented films concluded. The network restricted the scheduling of films that contained graphic sexual or violent content to late evening and overnight time periods.
In June 1997, Comcast signed an agreement to carry the network on its Pennsylvania and New Jersey systems to replace Philadelphia-based PRISM after that network shut down that October following the loss of its (and sister network SportsChannel Philadelphia's) sports programming to Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia. Partly in an effort to get the network's substantial losses off its books, TCI announced a deal on June 2, 1997, in which it transferred majority ownership of the corporate entity that operated Starz, Encore Media Group, to sister company Liberty Media; TCI retained a 20% minority ownership interest in Encore Media Group.
Because of how it's shares where distributed it took 2 months for Elizabeth to buy all of its shares for $120 million.
Acquairing majority shares of Dick Clark Productions was easy as most of its shares were in the hands of its founder Dick Clark. Rowan knew it's production capabilities nd wanted to use it for the production of shows such as America's got talent, America's next top model and American Idol etc.
Marvel which has been delisted was Carl Icahan's control who had kicked out Ronald Perlman and Rowan didn't think that he would be able to get his shares but Elizabeth proved him wrong. Rowan didn't knew that Carl Icahan bought the Marvel shares because of his rivalry with Ronald Perlman but Elizabeth knew about this fact and moved in such a way that Carl Icahan didn't have any option but to sell his shares. Thanks to that now Rowan had Marvel Entertainment in his hands.
Elizabeth bought the shares from small shareholders at Premium leaving only Carl Icahan and Avi Arad as the shareholders other than Rowan Stark. From there Carl and Avi could either hold onto the shares of a delisted company or sell them to Rowan at a profit so the duo decided to sell it at 3 times the price they bought, Rowan didn't care much about it and bought all of it becoming the owner of Marvel.
But Rowan wasn't finished yet, when Sony Columbia contacted Stark Pictures to buy the world wide release of Paranormal Activity, Rowan brought out the topic of buying Jive Records from them.
Of course, he didn't need NSYNC or Backstreet Boys and only wanted to keep a symbolic singer like Britney Spears. Rowan was ready to sell the rights of Paranormal Activity franchise for it.
When Rowan's team found out about it they tried to stop him but how can Rowan listen to them, can a Paranormal Activity franchise be enough against the Magic of Britney Spears please how much Jive records and her family squeezed out of her he knows about it. There is no way he would let her go through with something like that when he can stop it.
Although nothing has happened between the two, Britney was already his woman so how can Rowan let her suffer like that.
Frank Price who just became the president Columbia Pictures heard the news and decided to sell Jive Records to Rowan for Paranormal Activity franchise. After all without NSYNC or Backstreet Boys Jive records is nothing.
In a week the procedure was complete and Stark Pictures added Jive records in it.

While Rowan was going around buying companies, it didn't stop the media from hyping him up.
Although Stark Pictures seemed calm, it actually carefully planned a "big lie" that lasted for more than a month and covered the entire United States! Such a "shocking conspiracy" is difficult to control without outstanding execution capabilities, and it is even more impossible to create it without amazing business acumen.
This new way of promotion has almost overturned the traditional model. In the past, Hollywood promoted movies by spending a lot of money, using traditional channels such as media and television, as well as the publicity effect of celebrities to create audience expectations.
But now, this practice of spreading publicity expectations to the audience before the movie is released, like a virus, has almost foreshadowed that Hollywood will usher in a publicity revolution.
And this is the real impact that Rowan and his Stark Pictures have brought to the industry.
Business Week's professional and accurate analysis shocked the film industry.
A film company that only has the ability to produce films is just an independent film studio that makes good films. There has always been no shortage of such companies in Hollywood, such as DreamWorks right now and Legendary Pictures in the future.
But having excellent publicity and distribution capabilities is another matter. Without relying on large film companies, being able to conduct accurate and comprehensive publicity and distribution on your own is a capability that all second- and third-tier companies would envy.
Jon Felsmer flipped through the Business Weekly in his hand again. On the cover was the photo of the front door of Stark Pictures' logo, which looked mighty and majestic. Looking at the magazine, Jon Felsmer couldn't help but fall into thought.
At this time, the shadows of several people blocked the light, and one shadow blocked the magazine on the table.
