Wei Xinyi wasn't sure he heard it right the first time but when it was repeated, he was sure he did hear it properly.
He lifted the phone away from his ear to look at the caller ID. Fu Ling. And the voice was definably Fu Ling's as well.
Before he could say anything, the phone was hung up. He tried calling back but the other person didn't pick up the phone.
Someone noticed the situation and started teasing.
"Ahh is it Wei Xinyi's gold master? What happened doesn't he want you anymore?"
Wei Xinyi ignored it. He was used to their malice. He tried calling Fu Ling again but the line was switched off. He was a bit angry. Was this some kind of prank?
He decided to ignore it. A few minutes past and he couldn't sit still. Thinking of Fu Ling's hoarse voice, he decided to at least go check it out.
He convinced himself that it was the least he could do after being helped by Fu Ling many times. He apologized to thr director and left early.
