Fu Ling told Hai Zhong about Calista's encounter with Veyrin.
"What do you think he gained by almost draining her blood? I thought you were mermen not vampires"
Hai Zhong's lips twitched
"We're not vampires. Our power comes from bloodline. The purerer your bloodline, the higher your starting point. Despite being a half-blood, I was born with immense power. That alone was enough to drive Veyrin mad with jealousy but to think he would resort to dark arts.. I haven't encountered this before but I have read about it."
He paused slightly
"It is a banned form of dark arts that lets the caster drain the blood of another and transfer it to power for themselves. The catch is that it only works if the one being drained is untouched and you can only use it on one person so if you accidentally used it on someone who had already participated in sexual acts, you would loose the chance to cast that spell ever again."
Fu Ling lowered his head thoughtfully
