Everyone joined in and worked together—except for the kids, who stood by the windows with telescopes in hand, eyes sharply scanning the outside for any sudden swarms of mutated pests.
Grandpa Caldwell had allowed them to take part, wanting them to grow more familiar with the situation.
So, he assigned them to monitor the outside, and they took the task seriously.
"Sister Lucy, when will the pests come?" Little Mia asked, her stomach beginning to growl.
"Little Mia, I don't know," Little Lucy replied, keeping her eyes on the outside. "But let's stay sharp and let everyone know if we see anything."
"But I'm hungry! Can we finish already so we can eat? And I haven't seen my mom and dad today. Where are they?" Little Mia asked sadly.
She had spent the whole morning helping the adults, and now that she was finally sitting down to watch outside, she suddenly remembered her parents.
Well, she missed them.
Little Koby chuckled and replied with a serious yet cute look on his face.
