Rosia was just having a normal chat with Blender, sitting on the couch in their small but cozy apartment, when Tonia came out of her room, fully dressed. She wore a simple blue top and a pair of jeans, her backpack slung over her shoulder.
"I'm going to a friend's house to do my homework," Tonia announced, adjusting the straps of her bag.
Rosia glanced at her sister with a worried expression. "Be careful, Tonia. You know how the streets are."
Tonia groaned dramatically. "I know, I know. You're always reminding me. Nothing's going to happen."
She then crossed her arms and looked at Rosia with a pout. "But if something does happen to me, you will die, Rosia! I mean it! You're my only family. We only have each other!"
Rosia felt a familiar ache in her heart. She hated when Tonia talked like that—reminding her of their reality. It was true; they only had each other. No parents, no relatives who cared. Just the two of them against the world.
