A week has passed since becoming a contractor. For the most part she was able to fit into school life again with no problems. Except for the problem that she had to redo all the school work and tests that she did in her previous life, something she wasn't happy about.
The only thing Kiana looked forward to was the combat training. She planned to speed run to become an A-rank Valkyrie. With her experiences as well as the defenses and talents bought from the company, reaching A-rank would be easy.
Sure, she needed a good academic grade as well but there are always exceptions to things. Why does a Valkyrie need to know the Pythagorean theorem or how to find the area of a triangle? If she was as strong and skilled as an A-rank, then she had no doubt that she would be given the rank. After all they are training warriors not scientists. If being smart academically was a requirement to reach a high rank then how the hell did her father reach S-rank?! The man uses the Divine Key of Destruction to cook pizza!
She let out a sigh and continued her walk throughout the academy. Normally she would be sticking to Mei like glue, however Mei had joined a club and Kiana wasn't really interested in clubs, she would only join just to be near Mei. But she recounted the first time and many other times she did that in the previous life, she ended up getting kicked out since she really didn't do anything but talk to Mei. Even when she was kicked out, she would still keep going, it got so bad they had to create defenses in the club room to prevent her from entering. Kiana only stopped after being scolded by Mei and Himeko.
And Bronya? Well she had no idea what the gremlin was doing, probably playing video games somewhere.
Kiana then pulled out her company phone as she walked aimlessly.

She smiled at the number of credits she had. It takes three days for a binding stamp to take effect and count as an official capture. Theresa and Himeko earned her 20 credits for being tier 6, while Mei was a tier 5 despite being a Herrscher, earning 8 credits. What surprised her was that Bronya was also considered a tier 6, meaning she was stronger than both herself and Mei. The credits difference between Tier 5 and 6 really showed the difference in abilities.
"Hmph! I'll surpass Bratnya with the power of cheats!"
Along with the increase in credits, was the increase in her monthly salary. As a contractor, she has a monthly salary of $10,000 but the salary will increase with the number of captures you have. So now she's earning $17,000 a month, all of which can be converted to local currency of any country or world.
Wouldn't this break the economy? You might ask. Don't worry, the company has it all covered, and Kiana wasn't worried at all because she didn't even think of such a problem occurring.
With her company phone, she opened up the Talents and Perks tab. Now it was time for more purchasing. The first thing she did was go to [Talent Sharing] that she had purchased in the beginning. She didn't select a specific talent yet, nor did she have any members in her retinue, but now that she does, she selected to share the [Martial Talent] among her retinue. Though some talents look like they couldn't be shared, she'll have to look into that another time. Other talents had to be purchased again in order to be shared but it would be a one time purchase for each talent being shared.
After doing some basic reading on the talents and defenses, she now knew that all members of her retinue will receive the defenses as well and [Body Tune-Up] would automatically be given to all her retinue members, even the ones who join later on, and didn't require additional purchases for them.
Going through the catalog, she was interested in [Template Stacking] but didn't know who to choose for it. From what she read, it would grant her the chosen person's skill framework, giving her access to their skills and abilities. Though some skills and abilities wouldn't be available right away and had to be trained or she needed to become stronger to use them. She set this aside for now until she found a good template.
Moving onto defenses, she immediately bought [Drain Defense]. This would grant her resistance from beings trying to drain or absorb her energy. It wouldn't be full resistance, it would only make it difficult to actually drain her energy, and if the attempt succeeded, the amount drained would be very diminished in quantity. [Drain Defenses] was originally 25 credits, but it seemed she got a discount from her retinue, making it 15 credits instead, making her total credits 89.
She decided to save the rest for later. She just needed a little more credits and she already had a plan on what to do with the remaining credits but she would have to do this in her pocket dimension since it would cause a lot of noise that she wouldn't know how to explain to her aunt or Himeko. And there was a possibility of the school being destroyed so it would be better to do it in a safe environment.
Now she could only mentally complain at the lack of credits she had. There were too many things in the catalog she wanted to buy, and that's not even mentioning all the cool weapons and gear that she saw when walking around the contractor market place when she used the [Green Eye Orb], items that could only be bought with credits.
As Kiana complained in her heart, she didn't notice the silver-haired petite girl approaching.
"Idoitka"
"WAAH!" The sudden voice caused Kiana to jump in her seat, causing her phone to fall out of her hands and in front of Bronya. Her head looked up to face Bronya. She quickly stood up and pointed her finger at the girl.
"Bratnya!"
The two stood in a confrontational stance, well only Kiana. Bronya looked as if she had no interest in entertaining Kiana, but what drew her attention was the phone Kiana was using. She bent down and picked it up, and began examining it.
"Hmm, the Bronya is not familiar with this model"
For some reason, Kiana was filled with pride at those words, and decided to brag. "Well of course you wouldn't know! I'm the only one in the world with this type of phone and can't be obtained by anyone, OHOHOH!"
But as Bronya examined the phone more and even did a subtle scan, she found something odd. 'It's a brick, the phone doesn't function' She stared at Kiana who was still gloating with her laugh like some kind of Ojou-sama, though she would need a drill hair style to truly fit the role.
"Where did you get this phone?"
"Hm, oh I got it from-" Kiana quickly closed her mouth shut with her hand, almost revealing the secret that is the company. "Ahem, I can't tell you, I was sworn to secrecy"
Bronya continued her staring, her face still expressionless, but she came to a conclusion. 'She was scammed and the one who sold it to her told her to keep it a secret so that it can't be traced back to them'
'How foolish of you Kiana'
Bronya gave the phone back to Kiana, and the next moment shocked Bronya. Kiana turned on the phone.
'Impossible, the phone shouldn't function!' She had scanned the phone, and all scans by Project Bunny revealed that it was just a brick, yet Kiana had proved otherwise.
"Subject Kiana, may I inspect the phone some more?"
"Nope!"
An alarm went off on the phone with the notification -Mei free-. With that Kiana ran off, leaving Bronya alone with her thoughts and it was only then that she remembered why she approached Kiana. Himeko sent her to retrieve Kiana, but not that Kiana had run off, Bronya would just report that she couldn't find her and let Kiana deal with the consequences.
